A tag-team AMV on Bardock: By Magica and Yours Truly!

Post by Conan the SSJ » Fri Sep 15, 2006 12:39 am

This is literally my first work on an AMV in ten months (due to continuous computer difficulties, long story), this is a 5-and-a-half minute music video solely dedicated to Bardock, Father of Son Goku/Kakarrot, and the main origin story in the first TV Special. This is for all intents and purposes created for much more serious and emotional messages than a typical, cliche rock/bloody-mayham/jammin' type of thing. Both Magica and myself took this very seriously, and while I did the main editing work, she was a great brainstormer who knew what she wanted and what style she wanted it. She gave me the song "Hero" sung by Mariah Carey, a song that when combined with what we ended up with for the video, gives a true sympathy for Bardock and his struggle than possibly any other AMV out there. She also provided me main ideas and points, such as keeping the AMV in a chronological order (not starting from the middle or ending and going to random stuff, etc.), among many other things such as keeping the Saiyan bar scene and ending with Bardock's drifting headband.

To me, this was a very touching piece of work. I'd like to request here and now, no complaints about video quality. I'll get this out in the open that this isn't of a superb DVD quality, but it's the best I could come up with. Rest assured, the quality ranges on good, so you won't be watching something from a 14 MB file. I'm proud to say that Magica gave me many free liberties to touch upon, one example being a quick-but-very-cool flashback sequence Bardock has at one point. So more-or-less, this was a 50/50 job IMO. I'll provide a direct link to it, please everyone give it a chance. I promise and guarantee you won't regret it (those extremely disappointed can throw tomatoes at me). It isn't the best of AMVs out there, but I'd be so bold as to say it's definitely one of the best in terms of a tribute to Bardock.

Feedback, comments, etc., would definitely be appreciated!

Well well, it was better than I expected! Very emotional and the end was superb. As you say maybe not the best editing, but yet very good. In terms of theme and compassion for the work, this video is on top. The quality didn't bother me at all, it served it's purpose. ( I was near to fell a tear for him :') )

Great job, I see forward to see more of your work!

All hail Bardock!
Good people last longer!

In a very odd way, I'm actually honored it was Viacom to get YouTube to threaten us. I mean...getting the attention of a big-ass company like them with just a DBZ AMV, it's kinda jaw dropping. They're obviously pretty anal retentive, thinking we're threatening sales even though it's not making any money and YouTube doesn't offer downloading. Maybe CBS'll buck up and take the pole out of their asses.

I think it takes time for Youtube to notice everything. They took off all but one South Park clip from my account. It makes no sense
