Do you think Funimation will change the DB Super logo?
This topic's kinda pointless, I know. But still, I know they didn't do it with Dragon Ball Kai. They did however do it with Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT. Another thing to point out is that Kai is the most recent series before DB Super and the only thing Funimation changed to the Kai logo is adding the appropriate 'Z' for international releases. Also, something worth bringing up is that the logo for DB Super is based off of the Funimation DBZ logo (the 'Dragon Ball' part only, of course). Honestly, there's not really a need to change the logo - But I still wouldn't mind considering they've done it before - Ex. Dragon Ball GT (Original Japanese: http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/dra ... 1208152739 Funimation: http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/dra ... 0919140249) If you notice, it feels like Funimation was trying to market GT in a more 2000s hip and punk fashion with their music choices and the way the logo looks all dirty compared to the original clean Japanese logo.
Also, the DB Super logo isn't super unique so I just wonder if anyone would be upset or even care if Funimation modified it. Like I said, I realize there's really no point - But it would be a cool way of getting English dub fans hyped for Funimation's release of DB Super.

Yet again, it was not Funimation but Toei who added the Z to the logo for international releases.mecha3000 wrote:Another thing to point out is that Kai is the most recent series before DB Super and the only thing Funimation changed to the Kai logo is adding the appropriate 'Z' for international releases.

They only changed the GT logo in the intro and that's it. Toei added Z for international versions of Kai.

It will stay as it is. Toei Animation is the one who added Z to the international releases of Dragon Ball Kai and retitling the series as "Dragon Ball Z Super" would sound like a huge mess. However, I wouldn't say no to "Super Dragon Ball Z" but there's an actual game with this title.

The most I can see them doing is removing the "doragon booru suupaa" katakana at the bottom of the logo.

I wouldn't be against 'Dragon Ball Z: Super" but I'm sure with the way Funimation has been recently they will stick with Dragon Ball Super. The only way things would change would be with Toei's push to appeal to the Z fans in America or something of the sort.

Nah. At this stage in the game, FUNimation know better not to foolishly tamper with the presentation of the original product. The logo will stay the same.

Re: Do you think Funimation will change the DB Super logo?
My bad, I misworded myself with the whole "Funimation added the Z to Kai" thing (I meant to say Toei and then compare how DB logos are handled internationally). But yeah, I agree with you guys. The logo doesn't need to be changed. All I'm saying is if it was, I wouldn't mind. Also, just like with the whole "Funimation skipping ahead" debate started by me being cleared up by Chris Sabat, it seems Funimation will want to be mostly faithful in all aspects of DB Super - including the logo.
Oh, and I'm not sure if people got this impression from me - BUT I DO NOT WANT DB SUPER TO BE RETITLED "DBZ SUPER". I said LOGO, not TITLE.

Why?! Just keep it DBZ, its one of the most recognized names of anime in the west. Just calling it DB super wouldn't feel right in my opinion. Z is just 1 out of 5 anime series.
Re: Do you think Funimation will change the DB Super logo?
But... but... why? I'm sorry, but every time I see people refer to Super as "Dragon Ball Z: Super" and that is something I actually see quite often, I get triggered. So, so triggered. The western audience will be fine without the "Z".Protege wrote:Why?! Just keep it DBZ, its one of the most recognized names of anime in the west. Re: Do you think Funimation will change the DB Super logo?
They never called GT "Dragon Ball Z GT", so I hope they wouldn't add the Z to Super's title. ^^;
I think the only reason they added it to Kai was to be more blatant about Kai just being an edited down and redubbed version of Z (not that I agree with them calling it "Dragon Ball Z Kai"; just calling it "Dragon Ball Kai" is fine imo.)

Re: Do you think Funimation will change the DB Super logo?
Dragon Ball Z Kai, as said, was a case where Toei actually changed the logo and name themselves before even ending it internationally, hence why the rest of the world also has the Z in the name. Casual viewers aren't going to know what Kai even means, so the name Dragon Ball Kai would likely give the false impression that it's a new series like GT, or is a redone version of either just Dragon Ball or the entire manga, when it's none of those things. Dragon Ball Z Kai is at least honest about what the series actually is. Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters also carries the Z nameoutside Japan, despite Funimation not even having it yet.
Dragon Ball Super will definitely keep the same title, but I do wonder about that logo. If anyone does a logo change, it'll be Toei themselves. Also, DB and DBZ didn't have logo changes in the series itself, only GT did.

I see no reasons for the logo to be changed.
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

Re: Do you think Funimation will change the DB Super logo?
I see no reason for the title to change of course, but the logo itself... Well, I'd say not to mess with it on principle, but I'm also still not overly fond of how bland the Super logo is. So I guess I wouldn't be opposed to a redesign for international audiences.

Perhaps for packaging and removing the Kanji and Katakana like Battle of Gods did. Probably would look something like this.
Sorry for the rough edges and the like blown up Super part of the logo (actually did a regular edit that leaves the Kanji in and keeps the English Super part at its original size). Only have access to paint, so I had to clean up everything and recolor the English Super bit manually.

I think this is the international logo. Notice how it looks slightly different from the japanese one

I would hate it, but it would make business sense to leave the Z for marketing in NA.
