The US always been behind the Dragon Ball series before and it did just fine. The US got GT like 6-7 years later and still did well.DragonHermit wrote:
It probably means Super in US will be about 2 years behind Japanese airing, which hurts
Should Funimation skip the first two DB Super arcs?

Remember when Nicktoons went straight from ep 98 of Kai to GT? Not only were viewers skipping the Boo saga, which was confusing enough, but whenever GT referenced DBZ filler cut in Kai...ugh! Way to confuse any kids who got introduced to the franchise by Nicktoons. At least Nicktoons also aired the movies, which probably alleviated *some* of the confusion.Mewzard wrote:for new fans, it wouldn't make sense to skip from the Cell Arc to Super.

People forget that we skip 21st Budokai - Piccolo in the US and went straight to DBZ in 1996. People that was watching the series for the first time was probably confused.

Re: Should Funimation skip the first two DB Super arcs?
That situation was probably worse than what Nicktoons did, as by that point almost everything made up to that point had already been dubbed and subbed, so parents could have gone to their local library and borrow something like the Orange Bricks or edited VHS tapes for the Boo saga. When Funi jumped from the end of the Pilaf Saga to the Saiyan saga, nothing in between had an official release. Also, seeing several main characters die loses a lot of impact if you haven't seen the original DB and watched the how each character progressed through the series.

In this day of age, skipping the Buu saga and going straight to GT on Nick Toons was fine. Kids these days are different then we were kids in the 80's and 90's. They have much better access to the Internet and can easily find episodes on their own. Growing up as a kid, dial up Internet was still a thing, there was no youtube or any other streaming web sites.
