"Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
It's all up to toyotaro. If he thinks he can do weekly or bi-weekly, then its just more money for the companies.

"No. It's very specifically created for V-Jump. There is not enough interest in a not-actually-drawn-by-Toriyama manga series for it to warrant a coveted spot in Weekly Shonen Jump. Sorry to rain on the parade of hopes and dreams, but folks really need to abandon any thought of this going weekly. That's not its point and that's not the weight being thrown behind it."

Guess what, it sold really well.So again its not a fact that it cannot happen, there is no official thing saying that it cannot happen.Kuririn Fan wrote:Our esteemed leader said:

What if Buu is the one that appears on the ring... everyone has seemed to have forgotten about him...

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
And Mike is almost certainly right. Like I said, they're not going to make it weekly, but your original argument was that they couldn't easily change it to be weekly. That's not really true. The franchise, the magazine, it's all owned by Shueisha. Ignoring all the other reasons for why it won't, moving it from V-Jump to Jump, if they wanted it to change magazines, wouldn't be of any significant difficulty so long as Toyotaro could handle the increased workload.Kuririn Fan wrote:Our esteemed leader said:

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Not really. The discussion point of who will appear in the ring in Episode 40(?) has nothing to do with that episode.Sodhi wrote:I know you are new, but this is more fit for this thread http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtop ... 25&t=33726AvatarMew wrote:What if Buu is the one that appears on the ring... everyone has seemed to have forgotten about him...

Its episodic content though, now i am really confused. I thought this thread was for the leaks of things and any official announcement. Otherwise this thread will be full of theories.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Not really. Maybe we should create a thread discussing future events in the series that we know we happen, in other words a spoiler thread.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Not really. Did Toriyama design the Xenoverse characters?

Guess what, this was a response to "will it go weekly if it sells well" question. Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Toriyama didn't talk about a white-haired enemy, though.ellis-bas wrote:When I read the comments from Toyotaro/Toriyama about the "future" and "white haired" villain, I made me think of Time Patrol Trunks, Towa and Mira. I was glad to find others have thought the same, even if it does seem blatantly obvious. Their transition from DBO-exclusives to the wider franchise has gathered momentum, what with "recent" appearances in Xenoverse, Extreme Butoden and Heroes . I know the latter particularly mines all the nooks of the series for characters to use but the timing, just as they could be appearing in Super, would be a good tie-in.
Then there's the Fu/Hit theory - I thought it was a stretch but I'm starting to find something in it. The skin colour and his eyes in general and then also the Time Breaker Churai form DBO, who has the same two-tone face as Hit really make me think there could be something in it. Also his time-skipping technique too. There are definitely threads to work with, even if they are vague.
Also I'm going for Future Trunks to be the one to show up in the ring. Maybe he's picked up on Hit's time-skipping and has come to investigate. Maybe the ripples have alerted Towa and Mira, or maybe even freed Demigra if we're going down that route. There was the comment from Toriyama about hopefully being ok for kids to follow - the time travelling aspect could be the problem he's alluding too and Toki Toki this other Universe, unless that's 6.

Isn't this exactly what Super is right now?Araki wrote:... but we don't know the extent of Toriyama's involvement with that game - and you said it yourself, he oversaw it, but it wasn't really his plot. ...
Toriyama was said to have overseen every aspect of Online. How much stake you want to put into that statement, and how literal you wish to take the words "every aspect", I suppose is up to the individual, but we at least have that on "paper"(AKA Korean press release that also noted the game was six years into development before launching). It's completely not the same as his contributions to the movies or GT.
At the same time, I kind of don't want any DBO/XV characters to show up because it's more regurgitating and not completely flat-out new.

Guess what, there was never a question of "will it go weekly if it sells well", I just said I hope the sales of volume 1 make them consider putting out chapters more than once a month. Why are you being so abrasive?Kuririn Fan wrote: Guess what, this was a response to "will it go weekly if it sells well" question. And read the whole thing.

Holy cow, knock off the attitudes. It's hardly a question worth getting that riled-up over.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
The title of this one is for official announcements, but it's really become more of a General Discussion type thread. So if you want to discuss the topic in the Super section of the forums, this is probably the better thread since it relates more to the recently revealed episode titles and summaries.Sodhi wrote:Its episodic content though, now i am really confused. Honestly though, it probably deserves to be in one of the in-universe threads already discussing the matter in the In-Universe section of the forum? I think there was one or two of them, though they were geared towards Monaka specifically if I recall correctly.
He designed Towa, Mira and Time Patrol Trunks (for Dragon Ball Online) and oversaw the designs of the Xenoverse exclusive characters like the Time Kaioshin, Toki Toki and Demigra. Meaning he didn't draw them himself, but he did look over them and make suggestions until they agreed on a finalized version.Shuby wrote:Did Toriyama design the Xenoverse characters?

Wow, ¥1900 is about a 400% price increase. Still, it gets a digital release next month for much cheaper, so it was probably a simple matter of Jump underestimating orders.

I was talking about a question from before that Mike replied to. But i agree, it's pointless to argue over this.ArchedThunder wrote:Guess what, there was never a question of "will it go weekly if it sells well", I just said I hope the sales of volume 1 make them consider putting out chapters more than once a month. No. I'd say "overseen" is different from "writing a new story".B wrote:Isn't this exactly what Super is right now?Araki wrote:... but we don't know the extent of Toriyama's involvement with that game - and you said it yourself, he oversaw it, but it wasn't really his plot. ...
As much as we don't know to what extent he's overseeing Super, we know the foundation of the story is his' for sure. It's his plot.
I think we should expect a sales chart of the week to understand it it really sold that well or Shueisha wasn't expecting much and the book had a low first print.Sodhi wrote:Guess what, it sold really well.So again its not a fact that it cannot happen, there is no official thing saying that it cannot happen.Kuririn Fan wrote:Our esteemed leader said:
