I just have this crazy Idea. How about is Hit is from the future and somehow got stock in this era and that's how he learned his time technique? The person who enters the ring is Hit's boss and came to steal the Super Dragon Balls (someone like Mira). That's when Future trunks appears to try to stop all this madness.
Yeah, that would be a cools story line haha...

So how will the manga be an ad for anything if it's behind the anime now?

I could be wrong, but I think in certain regions of Japan, the anime is first broadcasted later on, so at least for those regions the manga could still serve as an appetizer.

Yeah, I had a horrible experience with that. I was in Japan when Super was beginning so I caught the first two episodes live over there. Forgetting that I'd traveled to a totally different region during the week, I sat down to watch episode 3 and was unfortunately met with episode 2 once again. Not fun. Totally forgot that was a thing!

Isn't this exactly what Super is right now?
No. I'd say "overseen" is different from "writing a new story".
As much as we don't know to what extent he's overseeing Super, we know the foundation of the story is his' for sure. It's his plot.
Right... But then, you have to take into account he isn't really writing anything. King Ryu and Toyotaro are writing everything. Toyotaro and the animators are executing that writing. Toriyama's role, from what I can gather, is outlining "this happens, and then that happens." Now, we don't what the process for Online's story was beyond Toriyama having to approve it, but because there are so many moving parts, it's not looking drastically different to me.

On the manga being an ad... Super itself is one big ad. It reminds kids the Dragon Ball is still a thing that exists, and they should go to the arcade and play Heroes or go buy a segway. As far as Shueisha is concerned, nothing's more official then the other thing and they're definitely on interested in outlining a "true story" or a canon.

That's really unfair. Why do they do that?

I wonder when promotion for "the new arc" is going to start. Unless this tournament is actually part of something bigger. It's crazy how close we are to the end with no indication as to what's going to happen next.

Perhaps we'll get a few 'filler-like' episodes while they start promoting what'll happen afterwards.
I could have gotten into anything...and yet I chose the story aimed at young Japanese boys about martial arts, and later about super-powerful aliens punching each other really hard.

Given how the rest of the production has been, with basically zero visuals almost right up to before the series aired, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they're barely getting around to working on the promotional stuff for what comes next.

I don't really want it, but we need some down time/"filler" though. We're too damn close to passing up Bra's window for existence.

Knowing Dragon Ball, the next arc might happen in less than a day. Bulla's birth isn't a concern.

While I would like "filler" time, from here on out it might be bad. Because it would technically be interrupting the flow of the story Mr.Toriyama wrote. Unless the plot allows for some down time after the tournament. Which isn't that likely, Mr.Toriyama usually steamrolls ahead.

"Filler" in Super has been very enjoyable, I don't want it to drop in quality. Z had some appalling stuff.

Because of the stupid decision to use the Dragon Balls to ask about the Super Dragon Balls in the anime (the manga doesn't have this problem), we should be pretty late in AGE 780 already. The next arc might happen in less than a day, but the potential time skip between the tournament and whatever comes next is a pretty big concern for Bra's existence.

Yea i completely agree with devilscorpse. The timeskip decision by using dragon balls in the anime was one of the dumbest and unnecessary thing toei could have done. I firmly believe that scene caused a lot of confusion and last minute key animation change in the later episodes, for ex kuririn looking different in the manga than anime. The only reason i can think of why toei did that was to show gohan and piccolo have been training for a while, then again neither of those two have done anything significant yet.

I have a theory that Bra's birth might have something to do with time travel similar to future Trunks.

?! Why would they do that? It's not like Kuririn couldn't shave his head again if a few months passed.

If I remember correctly Bra age and date of born was only revealed in a guidebook that didn´t come outside of JP (Someone correct me here please If I´m wrong) and never properly adressed in the manga, so Bra being born sometime after the date that said guidebook listed wouldn´t be a problem with the manga itself. This situation (for me at least) is no different than the 8 months timeframe plothole that´s present in the Red Ribbon Army Arc, the plot will just ignore it.
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

That's another of the reasons I find it extremely stupid. We've seen keys for Kuririn looking the same as he does in the manga version of the Champa Arc. It seems they originally fully intended to have the arc set shortly after Golden Freeza wrapped up, but decided on the Shenlong wish thing and maybe more time for Piccolo and Gohan to train, so they wanted other indicators that time had passed. So the Kuririn keys were discarded replaced with haired versions. Not only was it a stupid plot decision, but also a waste of precious resources for production.

Though there were other well drawn keys that were also discarded as well, like the one for Cabba. I don't really see why they'd do that when the production schedule and all that is so shitty. :/

I forgot to mention this, but Kanekubo Norio worked on Episode #38. Clearly the discarded key animation was for earlier episodes, but the last episode he is credited for working on was Episode #13. It's pretty interesting to note.
