I don't get the people bitching about non-important characters not having a role in the series.
I'd agree if you're talking about the humans or even Goten and Trunks but Piccolo and Gohan ? They were on Goku & Vegeta's level of importance during Z's events so fans wanting them to do something here is very understandable.
They don't have to be as important as those 2 but they should get to do something other then getting beaten up or watching the action from the sideline.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

You don't need another franchise, just look at DBZ, everyone got to shine in it which is why fans are so upset about the way Super is treating everyone.
Z is the reason why Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan & Future Trunks are fan favorites.
Muten Roshi, Tenshinhan, Oolong, Yajirobe, etc were also fan favorites in DB but barely did anything in DBZ. Now a similar thing is happening it seems (the same thing happened in DBGT too). That's the way Dragon Ball has always been, Goku is the main character and the rest of the cast gets smaller roles in the arcs after their introduction until they are just kind of there not doing anything.
I would agree that the Z portion of the story did a better job of keeping the cast involved with the "we have to wait for Goku to come back" trick but, as a whole, DB has always been about Goku and then everybody else.
Now, I would wait a bit until we see what happens after the tournament to say Super doesn't use the cast. Tournaments tend to be Goku-centric in DB. Other than Krillin defeating Chiaotzu, no character other than Goku and the antagonist of the arc did all that much in any tournament (including Baba's) besides serving as a measuring stick for other people.

Vegeta has managed to stay relevant so far.
I don't think anyone wants or expects this to change cause it's his show at the end of the day but that doesn't mean you can't have both.
Take Vegeta for example, he isn't Goku but from the start of Super he's been getting one shining moment after another and even got to defeat the story's 2nd main villain but they still found a way to make Goku relevant during that event by having him kill him.
Gohan is another example, he was the main character of the Cell games and even got to kill Cell who was Z's the 3rd main villain but Goku still played a role in that victory.
With the exception of this one which is Vegeta centric as well.

Yeah, Vegeta has been relevant in Super too, I was referring mostly to Gohan, Piccolo and the rest. Still, he only beat characters way weaker that him and acted as a measuring stick so we know how strong Hit is and what he can do before he fights Goku, just like in every other tournament and just like what I said in the part of the quote you left out. He did have nice interactions with Cabba that may lead to new things in the future though.
Anyway, my point stands, Muten Roshi was one of the top 5 most relevant characters in early DB and he didn't do shit in DBZ portion of the story, so this thing about not using former important characters isn't new. I still think Toriyama will eventualy do something with Gohan at least (not sure about Piccolo, Trunks, Goten and the rest) so I would wait and see what happens.

Do you guys realize Piccolo has gone above and beyond his potential? The dude fused with Nail and Kami, has gotten to like Buu level, and people still complain. Nameks don't have Saiyan potential. Humans even less so. That's why Krillin gave it up. You can't keep expecting these "old school" characters to become OP even though they don't have that potential.
The only character to complain about is Gohan, but his time will come.

It's strange. In the episode where Krillin asks Goku to punch him he said that he wants to start training again. A later episode had the narrator say Krillin gave up on training. It's a weird contradiction.
If he did give up, that's bullshit. Complete bullshit. One of the greatest things about Krillin is even though he isn't as strong as everyone else he keeps on going and tries to help. If Krillin is a quitter in Super then that's extremely out of character and idiotic.

No, the whole point of the punch was for Krillin to test out the difference in strength between him and Goku. If the difference was too high, he would give up. And Krillin has been irrevelant since like the last tournament of DB let alone DBZ. He had some nice showings in Saiyan Saga but other than that, he gave up since like 1990

DragonHermit if it weren't for Kuririn then the many of the battles in Z wouldn't have been won. Who distracted Vegeta so Yajirobe could cut off his tail? Kuririn. Who helped fend off multiple villians on Namek? Kuririn. Hell, if it weren't for him then Gohan would have died by the Freeza arc. He's protected and kept up with that little boy like he was his own son. It was his death that sent Goku over the edge to finally acquire the power to defeat Freeza. He's probably one of the most important characters in the franchise. He doesn't need to be on screen 90% percent of the time to be relevant.

Unless My subs were wrong when 18 was patching him up he said something along the lines of, "I need to start training again to get stronger."
Also Krillin just deciding to give up because Goku's stonger than him is extremely out of character. If what you say is true then Super has singlehandedly ruined and missed the point of my favorite character.

That's simply wrong on so many levels. Krillin's always been pretty damn usefull on pretty much every arc except maybe the Buu arc.
And NO. He didn't give up. That was one of his best traits. He never gave up despite being immensely weaker than his foes.

Why Can't Piccolo and the humans get a power up like Super Saiyan God. Toriyama made Super Saiyan God out of nowhere for Saiyans so why not for other characters.

*cough* Kaio-Ken *cough*
Most of the main characters are stronger than Goku was when he first met King Kai, so it shouldn't be that hard to learn.

Not to mention the humans STILL haven't used the gravity chamber or the RoSAT. And I'm pretty sure Bulma can make a new chamber that could go higher than 100. If the humans used the new modified gravity chamber then I'm pretty I'm pretty sure they could reach the upper millions. Kaioken can amplify that to become even stronger. The possibilities are still there. Their not hopeless.

Well then maybe krillin should asked shenron to become a saiyan or something. I mean how stupid was it that they completely left out shenrons two other wishes without atleast wishing Goku or Vegeta ability to survive in space! Just a waste of potential. Bet the writers just simply dont care i guess.

The end of a matter is better than it's beginning.
It's how you finish not start.

I don't think that's possible, considering he couldn't make Android 17 and 18 human again...

Gaffer said it nicely : "But it is extraordinarily obnoxious that a series that gives the message of always continuing to push yourself has so many characters who have to shrug and say, "Well, it doesn't matter what I do. I'll never be good enough because I didn't win the genetic lottery."

The fact that no one besides Goku learned Kaioken despite training with King Kai is BS!
We saw Goku going Kaioken consistently at x20 with Frieza. By the Cell saga of tien, piccolo, yamcha kept training they could have easily x50 maybe even x100 during Buu. That one thing could have changed their relevance but no.. Gotta focus on the Saiyans.

I think we can all say that Dragon Ball as a whole is not a perfect as we would like it to be.
Thats what makes us fans we love it despite its flaws.

Kaio invented the technique and couldn't use it. I like to think that Goku is the only one that was able to master it. While I would like for the humans to be relevant. Giving away stuff that is incredibly difficult, cheapens it. A lot of people criticize the "Super Saiyan bargain sale" sale already.
