And don't come up with that canon arugment, it's a dead end. More canon than other thing Toriyama wrote too?! That doesn't even make sense.
Like any other manga series, everything that is in the original manga is canon. The rest is extra stuff, that anyone can consider canon or not.
Super being canon or not doesn't matter, as long as it's enjoyable it's okay. In the end, I assume we all are here for the ride.
If Toriyama says Super is more canon than original manga, then it is. Word of god > headcanon of fan. Toriyama owns the story, fans dont get to choose what canon is
The words in bold is called headcanon. You don't get to choose canon, Toriyama does
Toyotarō: … I get the feeling I’ve just heard something amazing (laughs). Lord Beerus and Whis turn up in Dragon Ball Super, and have become an unsurpassable wall for Goku and the gang. What do the two of them mean to you?
Toriyama: Well… First off, right now I don’t have any plans for Goku and Vegeta to surpass Beerus and Whis.

But that's the point, Toriyama didn't say anything. All we know is that the plot of this Tournament (and whatever comes next) comes from him. And all of these new stuff don't get to contradict anything for the time being (except Goten's and Trunks' height...).

There is nothing to be proud about that. Generates additional inconsistencies and unrest on the opera, making of poor-quality, because what, in the physical world, you define it as the geometric perfection, in fiction is comparable with internal consistency.

I hope we soon get back to something else after everyone had a turn making up rules about canonicity again, arguing with the rest.
I just hope the 2 new guys are somewhat entertaining to me.

Relax dude, it's just Dragon Ball. It's a comedy anime first.

I just noticed the pattern on the small guy's clothes. It's two "全", the upper one is upside down. Because of this I guess he's probably the Zen'ou, the tall one is the attendant.

Just wanted to point out that "Zen'ou" isn't pronounced "Ze-nou" but "Zen-ou" (kinda like when you say Kai-ou, that's why it has that apostrophe so people know which sounds belong where). His clothes cleverly shows his title 全王 (note that the "X"s are the top part of the first kanji and most likely not a reference to Xenoverse since they aren't even pronounced the same anyway).

Totally normal.
Vegeta and Nappa
Kaioshin and Kibito
Beerus and Whis
The shorter guys.

Covered the "ou" part earlier. Though I did not speak about the pronounciation.

I do find it odd that some people hate on the new character designs for being bad, but they are okay with the bad character designs from the past. I found some of the filler, older movie and GT character designs to be pretty awful looking. Like I find Super 13 to look awful with his over size muscles with his blue skin and orange SSj hair. Every time I look at him, I find him so silly looking. He looks like a fan creation than a real character if you ask me.

Dragon Ball is absolutely a comedy show. Just because it contains fighting and has serious moments it does not exclude that other element.

If DBZ came out today I can just imagine all the complaints.

How the hell do Bulma and Vegeta have kids they're different species? How do earthlings and aliens speak the same language? If Saiyans always have the same hair, why is Nappa bald?

Dragon Ball was mainly a action adventure comedy manga until Piccolo Daimao shows up. Pilaf-22nd Tenkachi Budokai was mainly a gag manga. Pilaf and RR Army was never serious villains (expect for Tao) and had no real threat to the world unlike Piccolo Daimao. Even DBZ had comedy in it and the Buu saga had a less serious tone to it compare to the Saiyan-Cell saga.

No, maybe dragon ball Super is a primarily a comedy show, where the fights are overshadowed. Dragon Ball is a MAINLY a manga based on fighting and action; they are the soul of the story and the focus of the plot. The comedy is present, but it is secondary.
Only the first arc is focused on comedy, and the adventure, and was unpopular in Japan.

If you really think that you must be pretty new to the show because Toriyama-san always feels comfortable with light-hearted, goofy and nice settings. It is just his style, you can see that with all his work. What you are doing here is majorly downplaying a very defining factor of Dragon Ball, "secondary" is an understatement that comes from the general view of DBZ but Dragon Ball overall whenever it could tried to be funny.

22nd Tenkachi Budokai had a strong comic component, but was focused on the fighting and action.
Even RRA-Baba arc. All other arcs were alike, totally focused on the fighting, regardless of the serious tone. In 90% of the manga, martial arts and battle are redundant
The blood of dragon ball are the battles, not comedy, and this cannot be denied.

So hyped about Super yet once again!
About time to end the tourney imo. It wasn't too rushed yet not too prolonged either, they ended it in the right time.
12 new characters sounds yummy! I already like the tall one's design, but the shorter's one is meh. But you gotta hand it to Toriyama where the design is irrelevant to your post.

Yes, it can be, though I would agree with you after phrasing it as "Dragon Ball is most known for ...", it still does not change the fact how much of an actual comedy show it is. Even in dead serious moments. Even during battles. As mentioned, you are heavily downplaying this base element of the show. How much of a comedy it is you can always see when a formerly fierce enemy later is actually even used for comical purpose.

I memorized all the manga and I know perfectly well that what I say. In Dragon Ball there are arcs where you can find a restrict comedy, undertone, but these remain always focusing to battles and action. The same author, while preferring a light-hearted narrative style, is aware that the success of his manga is due to fights and tournaments, and made it the focus of his story, using a cyclic pattern that repeats itself (search of Dragon Ball-adventure-tournament)
