What did you think of the Champa arc?
Now it's ended what are your thoughts on it?
Like it? Dislike it? Was it your favourite arc of Super so far? How does it rank amongst all the other arcs for you? Has it made you like Super more or less than before? etc
Personally I enjoyed it, I do think it's the best arc in Super so far.
I liked that the saga introduced so many different and unique characters and I liked the format of the tournament. It was nice to see Vegeta get some worthwhile wins in there for once. His fight with Magetta and Cabba as well as Goku's fight with Hit were the best fights in the tournament. I wouldn't say any of them were as good as the fight between Goku and Beerus though. It also wasn't as predictable as it could have been either.
It was also much better animated than the previous arc aswell.
On the other hand I'm disappointed that it was just the Goku and Vegeta show again, they're the only ones to get a win. They should have had Buu beat Botamo at the very least and Monaca ended up a waste of time entirely even if it was sort of funny.
I thought the fights were too short, almost all of them could have afforded to be at least twice as long as what they were. Some of the fights in the manga like Goku vs Botamo and Frost were much better in the manga. The Goku vs Hit fight started off very well but then it ended too briefly, it was not as good as the final fights of the previous tournaments.
There was no real villain, I suppose Champa would be the closest but he didn't fight anybody but I'm fine with that. There doesn't really need to be one.
Overall I'd probably say it was the best tournament they've done just above the 23rd Budokai mainly because of how much it introduced to the series in comparison. Amongst all the saga's there are it'd be in my Top 10 but not Top 5. if it had been longer and the fights been longer and more dramatic then it might have been.

It's been great overall. We get know a lot of the Dragon Ball universe much than ever before in the past. Champa and Vados are very cool and enjoyable. Hit is awesome, Cabba is pretty good and Megatta is cool too. Frost is alright and the yellow bear guy is meh. I like the world building that we got in this saga and very felt so fresh after months of bad re-tellings.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
I liked it, Champa was a cool cat! (No pun intended) there were lots of gags and at the same time a serious atmosphere which is something I've grown to love with Super. I liked how Goku's body reacted to Kaio-ken, it's really a lot cooler than him hitting the ground and panting for his breath. Got to meet some cool new characters and races from Universe 6. Can't wait to see the Super Dragon next episode, and the King of Everything was a neat addition. Monaka is the new Satan! Also, I really enjoyed those little moments between Beerus and Champa, comparing Goku/Vegeta with them makes Goku/Vegeta look like civilized adults. The fighting animation was really neat in the tourney too.
Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
6-7/10 tbh goku vs hit and vegeta vs magetta were highlights of it the champa arc every fight there was short and terrible hit and magetta show something new to the table compared to others who were boring as fuck in terms of fighting.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
It's the worst tournament arc in the entire franchise, besides that one I vaguely even remember from GT.
The U6 fighters were all uninspired/unoriginal. Botamo is just... meh. Cabba has the same generic personality as Uub, Kid Gohan, Tarble, etc, and absolutely no unique abilities of his own. His design is also lacking. Frost is undoubtedly one of the worst characters ever created in the history of Dragon Ball. Hit is basically Pikkon with a cool ability. Magetta is the only one that stands out to me, and he's ironically (and intentionally) the most simple one of these characters. Ultimately, none besides Hit were on Goku or Vegeta's level either, which again was very disappointing. And mind you, I know the tournament-exclusive characters introduced in the past have never really stood out, but these U6 fighters are supposed to be the strongest in their respective universe, so the standards should be set much higher.
Besides Goku vs Hit and Vegeta vs Magetta, all the fights were incredibly underwhelming and just downright bad.
The worst offense of this arc though is the most obvious flaw: Goku and Vegeta were the only fighters given the opportunity to fight and win. This is a tournament arc! It's the best excuse imaginable to finally give other characters a time to shine. I'll never ever understand what they were thinking when they decided to go this direction. It's unbelievable, to be honest.
All in all, it wasn't terrible, but it was pretty damn disappointing. 6.5/10.

Also i don't like how monaka is satan 2.0

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
Part of me liked it and part of me was kinda hoping it wouldn't be just Goku and Vegeta. I'm not saying it ruined the whole tournament for me but I'd still like to see some of the other Z fighters get in the mix. I know their power is pretty irrelevant in the eyes of many right now but I'd still like to get some focus on them. I liked Magetta and Hit. They were pretty interesting and I liked the fights they were involved in. I really didn't like Cabba and Frost. Botamo and Monaka didn't do much. Seeing Beerus and Champa interact was cool. It was an ok arc for me. Maybe it'll grow on me. I'd give it a 6.5/10

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
I liked it. It was the first good arc after a let down with BOG, and a shitfest with F. It was a fun time. It started rocky til around the Piccolo vs Frost fight, but then got better and better as the show progressed. It's not great, but it's a fun time I'd watch again, unlike the previous 2 arcs. Yeah most of the U6 characters are bland, but so are the 21st Tenkaichi chararacters too. It's not that big a deal. I would have liked it to be more than the Goku and Vegeta show, but it at least brought entertaining bouts and suspense. Yes we had real suspense again because this time death doesn't matter, and it's just losing that does. I was really surprised with the arc. Monaka is a twist I like and hate. I like it because finally, the scrawny weak guy, is actually weak. I mean I love how Toriyama makes weak guys strong. I really REALLY LOVE THAT. It's just even that got old eventually. So to see a twist that Monaka is nothing, is really cool. However that left us with solely Goku and Vegeta. Would have liked Piccolo to step up, but too bad he didn't. Overall it's the first worthy continuation of the series behind Battle of Gods the movie. Better than F, much better than F. So it gets a 7/10 for me.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

The two didn't have much in common if you ask me. Hit is a assassin and emotionless while Pikkon is not like that.fadeddreams5 wrote: Hit is basically Pikkon with a cool ability.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
As a whole I will give it a 7.5/10
Most of its shortcoming comes from lackluster presentation/animation.
The highlights from this arc would be world building.
Universe 6 participants are pretty insteresting minus Botamo (outside of his fight, which was lacklusterly presented, he doesn´t stand out too much), and Frost (He could have been good if he stayed as a good heart caring Freeza that he initially lead us to believe instead of what he was revealed to be). My personally favourite would be Cabba and the dinamic developed with Vegeta. Vegeta was probably another highlight, he has been getting a considerable amount of focus and interesting development in his character (greatly showcased in his fight with Cabba), which I find kinda letdowned that Goku has been getting the same treatment.
As whole, this arc turned out to be more interesting that I anticipated, definetly will keep following DBS.

Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
Pikkon is an enforcer, given his duties in Hell: a man hired to defeat or kill villains causing riots.Hellspawn28 wrote:The two didn't have much in common if you ask me. Hit is a assassin and emotionless while Pikkon is not like that.fadeddreams5 wrote: Hit is basically Pikkon with a cool ability.
He has a stoic and serious personality (filler arc, not in the movie and Buu saga). Really, same one as Hit.
He's introduced in a tournament arc.
He's Goku's last match, who Goku is pretty much powerless against, just like Hit. Both are their respective god's best fighter. Goku even uses a SSJ+ kaioken conbo on both.
Both defeat a previously beaten villain with ease, showcasing their powers.
Both gain respect for Goku after their match.
Too many parallels.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
They're similar but they're not as similar as you make them out to be.
Pikkon wasn't an enforcer, Grand Kai just asked both Goku and Pikkon to go down to hell to stop whoever it was from causing trouble.
Goku was never powerless against Pikkon, they had a back and forth like when Goku fought Roshi, Tien and Piccolo Jr. He was never completely outmatched like he was with Hit.
Pikkon and Goku were also getting along quite well before they even fought, they were pretty friendly with each other. I can't remember it very well but I don't think Pikkon was looking down on Goku or anything.
Pikkon was a hero who died a heroic death and got to keep his body in Heaven whereas Hit is an assassin who kills people for money.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
It was a great arc overall, the animation and fighting choreography improved from previous arcs especially episode 39's and Vegeta got a lot more screen time than I thought so that was a welcome surprise.Bullza wrote:Now it's ended what are your thoughts on it?

However Goku's 1st 2 fights weren't that good and they promoted Piccolo & Buu as equals to Goku & Vegeta only to do nothing with them so for that I'm giving it an 8/10.
I'll give RF a 9/10 and BOG a 7/10 so it's my 2nd best arc but it's gotten me a lot more interested in Super than I was before thanks to all the world building.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
Let me guess, you gave a garbage arc 9/10 because of Vegeta beating up weakened Freeza with more punches than in the movie?
Anyway, this arc isn't over, there's 1 episode to go.
I don't know, it was ok-ish, it losses a lot of points for being Goku and Vegeta show but it also wins a lot of points because of Champa and all this lore.
It's easily the best arcs in Super so far, retellings were really bad except for slice of life episodes.

It's a fun arc. Like a mini arc, it had good exposition to the arc itself was good.

No...well yes but that's not the only reason.Kuririn Fan wrote:Let me guess, you gave a garbage arc 9/10 because of Vegeta beating up weakened Freeza with more punches than in the movie ?
It showed us how Goku & Vegeta went to Beerus' planet.
We got to see a lot more of their training.
The Z fighters got a bit more to do than they did in the movie.
Freeza acted a lot like he did during Namek.
Freeza was fighting dirty from the very start.
Goku didn't weaken Freeza like he did in the movie which gave Vegeta's fight more weight cause Goku was getting beaten up throughout his fight with Golden Freeza.
Earth's destruction was a huge improvement here.
We got to see the aftermath of the battle compared to the movie.
I get why you and a good amount of fans don't like it but like Gt, I can look past it's flaws and enjoy it for what it was, fan service.

Gokuu, Vegeta and Piccolo show. Clearly less Piccolo than the saiyans but he had an actual fight, which is more than he got in the entire Boo arcKuririn Fan wrote:Let me guess, you gave a garbage arc 9/10 because of Vegeta beating up weakened Freeza with more punches than in the movie?

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
Champa arc stuff I can think of off the top of my head:
-That green couch scene and the ensuing 3 years in the RoSaT training were beautiful gifts.
-I still like how Botamo's design is an indirect "Winnie the Pooh" shout-out.
-I continue to appreciate that they haven't forgotten that Chi-Chi is also super-humanly strong with her ultra-leap to Gokû's rescue.
-Frost disappointed me with his turnabout. I am wondering if he's still alive or not though after Hit had at him (has Cabba been sitting next to a dead body this whole time?!)
-Speaking of Cabba; I'm so incredibly anxious to learn his back-story, visit Planet Sadla and learn about the Uni 6 saiyan King and Queen! I want to see all this so bad, but fear it's not gonna happen at all.
-Vegeta's (temporary) good luck was fun to see. He normally gets knocked out pretty easily, so to see him take down 3 opponents was surprising and impressive.
-Hit wasn't the antagonist I thought he'd be, but time powers in general are still an entertaining thing to me.
-Seeing kaio-ken brought back was wonderful! It's my favorite power-up for Gokû, after ssjg.
-I'm excited to have Vegeta "active" again. As nice as it was for him to be chill for a while, I'm looking forward to "fired up about his rivalry with Kakarrotto!" Vegeta's return.
-Gokû gets his second princess-carry; this time in the arms of Piccolo. XD (I feel the only reason it wasn't Vegeta again was Vegeta's still upset about Gokû surpassing him via kaio-ken).
-That Super Shenlong looks really cool; almost too cool considering Toriyama's designs for some of these new characters. I'm currently going with the bet that said dragon is, while ridiculously cool looking, also really really tiny (as the Super db's themselves are really really big).
Only remaining thing I'm waiting on before the filler begins is that conversation in the preview that Cabba was having with Vegeta; I really hope there's something juicy and fun in that conversation. So excited. ( > u < )
