Yeah, especially Krillin's death, Roshi's sacrifice, Goku going through King Piccolo & Piccolo shooting a hole through Goku's shoulder during their fight.
Add Tao Pai Pai that kills Blue and Bora

Bora's death was definitely a serious/sad scene, I can't believe I forgot about it.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

I was personally never a fan of Arale, but if they bring her back they are at least thinking outside the box, being very unpredictable.

I'm not going to give out a verdicts so quickly, we have to wait and see.

I don't mind Arale coming back at all. I find the character charming, and given the current tone of Super, I think she's gonna fit in just fine. I just hope Goku recognises her. And of course, anything that gives Dr Slump more recognition, is fine by me.

So stupid that people who only watched DBZ are complaining. Dragon Ball isn't all about DBZ. Toriyama is doing great job bringing Arale back. Much better that Trunks or Cell.
Toyotarō: … I get the feeling I’ve just heard something amazing (laughs). Lord Beerus and Whis turn up in Dragon Ball Super, and have become an unsurpassable wall for Goku and the gang. What do the two of them mean to you?

Toriyama: Well… First off, right now I don’t have any plans for Goku and Vegeta to surpass Beerus and Whis.

I agree, but her being the one who was talked about in the latest interview is kinda disappointing. She's a great character indeed, but not enough to be the one who was commented between Toriyama and Toyotaro. I can't see how much Arale could add into the lore/plot, she's a gag character, after all.

I'm not defending Future Trunks, though. Unless we're talking about Time Patrol Trunks...

Future Trunks character arc has already been wrapped up nicely, I would rather not see him coming back at all to be honest.

I love Arale as a character so I'm quite excited for her return

I'm starting to hate the word "serious" because of this fanbase. As for Arale herself, I am actually excited for her return. I wonder what they're going to do with her since she's supposed to debut in the Pan episode.

This is the first I've heard of it and it's be a shame if it's true, Dr Slump and Arale are absolutely terrible. I was hoping that it would be Trunks aswell.

I love Arale in Dr. Slump, and Dr. Slump as a whole. I've always been kind of ambivalent about her showing up Dragon Ball.

I don't mind arale's return to the db series if she is there just for comedic purpose and is only there for slice of life episodes because I don't think she's powerful enough than super goku and the gods atm.....

It'd be a disaster if Future Trunks makes a return unless it's with Time Patrol, it's the only way it makes sense.

Arale is a charming, albeit creepy character. I'm sure it'd make for a pretty fun time

But it still had a lot of serious moments to balance it out like Videl getting beaten up mercilessly, Piccolo ripping Babidi in half, Vegeta's sacrifice, Babidi making a guy's head explode, a gunman killing an old couple for the fun of it & Buu killing everyone on earth before eating The Z fighters and their families alive.
True, but it's not so much about the quantity as it is when it occurs. Far too often it undercuts the stakes, such as during the entire Gotenks vs. Buu fight.
Gotenks vs. Buu and Vegetto vs. Buu are literally the only time in the Buu saga that the hero and villain are both taking things lightly (which I agree undercuts the stakes, but it's not the bulk of the saga). In every other part the heroes are dead serious, making Buu's antics all the more horrifying. Like the Joker's antics. Do you consider Batman a lighthearted story because the Joker has a lighthearted approach to murdering and torturing people?

The difference in modern DBZ's tone is that Goku, Vegeta, Beerus, and Whis (aka the four main characters strong enough to actually matter) don't take a damn thing seriously.

I really don't give a shit about Arale. The crossover in Dragon Ball is one of the low points in the whole series for me. If it's done better than that, well, fine, I can take one episode. Hope it's not something that sticks, though. I love Super and it's concepts/world-building, so that taking a back seat for an annoying little bitch, or worse, it's caused by said annoying bitch, will really diminish whatever came until now and in the future. It's Toriyama's love child, I get that, but I don't care one bit about it. At least Neko Majin is pretty funny and fits better with Dragon Ball (being a parody of it). Dr Slump doresn't have anything in common with it, except both being comedies.

I don't care for Arale's inclusion honestly. We have a slew of undeveloped cast members do we really need another gag character taking up valuable screen time? I'm hoping she's a one and done cameo. Comedy is fine when its actually funny. but I've had it with all the lame ass slapstick and on the nose gags. Hurr Durr another food gag, I'm sure they'll laugh after the hundredth fucking time -- No. Vegeta fending off horny teenagers from his daughter or dealing with being an uncool dad, now that's funny. That's how you do slice of life comedy. Those horrid "oh so zany" character designs are really driving me up a wall as well. I feel as if Toriyama is hiding the fact that all his characters look the damn same with lolrandumb design choices.

I don't want the show to become super serious with M.D. Geist levels of edginess, I just want a balance of comedy and seriousness. The Original Dragon Ball did it right. I feel as if they're trying to get back to that time but in such a half assed and contrived way, it sucks. I don't enjoy it.

Anyway I wouldn't mind them bringing back Future Trunks actually. I like how they developed Vegeta's character and genuinely enjoy some of the interactions in Super, Vegeta's little heart to heart with Cabba was nice. I want more of that between the cast members. I wonder how Vegeta will react to seeing his other son again.

I would love for Arale to return and then beat up Beerus like she did General Blue. Flames on the internet will be a sight. I personally like when Dragon Ball don't take itself so seriously, which is probably why he Cell Saga is my least favorite sage. That and I didn't like Cell.

As for Future Trunks, I would rather not see him again honestly. His story is done and I think he needs to take care of his own time than traveling back to the main timeline. And before someone mentions Freeza, he works in my opinion since he actually had a organization that wanted him back and gave a good reason why they waited so long. Unless Future Trunks have a good reason to be back, I would rather leave him alone.

Goku barely took a backseat in the Buu saga, at best he took a leisurely stroll round back while everyone else cried for him to come back.
