Re: Do you think the end of z will be re-written/retconned
While the ending is certainly rushed, you can't really argue that it was hastily thrown together. The chapter progression is immediate. Buu was defeated on May 09th, 1995 and Uub literally appeared in the next chapter a week later on May 16, 1995. If he wasn't allowed to end the series, Toriyama would have needed to move on to a new arc (which he obviously didn't do) and he would have needed to be planning for it in the most basic of senses. So, seeing how there weren't any breaks. and the start of the Uub content begins in the same chapter as Buu's defeat, Toriyama was almost certainly thinking about the end of the series and Uub while drawing the final battle with Buu; likely at least two weeks before he was drawing Uub with how manga schedules work.
Uub was indeed more relevant two decades ago when the series jumped from Buu's defeat to his debut, and then on to GT for the anime side of things, but that doesn't mean he's entirely irrelevant now either. The concept of Uub still works and serves its purpose (this coming from someone who really doesn't care about the character), especially if they reach him in Super and tweak things to fit with whatever material they decide to introduce. He's a character with huge potential that Goku can pass everything he's learned to, and all the adventures and experiences being added into this 10 gap just makes the potential of that relationship that much more grand.

I didn't know that! Did he say that said in an interview?DBZGTKOSDH wrote: plus, he read the manga again in preperation for BoG.

All the neo-DB stuff has been covering period before Uub so frankly, he's irrelevant by definition. As for his "concept" - which one? Kinda two mixing here, 1 is passing the torch which Toriyama already botched twice and second is the arch-rival/competitor Goku is excited to match against. I guess I agree Beerus is serving that role already so tbh, it's hard to see any place for Uub ATM in the universe or narrative structure. Especially when any realistic prospect of the "torch" being passes now abandoned.TheDevilsCorpse wrote: Uub was indeed more relevant two decades ago when the series jumped from Buu's defeat to his debut, and then on to GT for the anime side of things, but that doesn't mean he's entirely irrelevant now either.

If Videl is pregnant in the current arc then that means Toriyama is changing the ending and when it takes place.MaGyunia wrote:I honestly think that the most likely scenario is that DBSuper and all of its arcs will be placed within the 10 year gap between the defeat of Kid Buu and the last 3 episodes of DBZ. As a result of that, the last Tenkaichi Budokai of DBZ and Uub's introduction will remain unchanged and canon.
Personally I think the story deserves a better ending so if he wants to change it then more power to him.
I don't see how cause he was introduced to hold the peace and be Goku's training partner at a time when Kid Buu was the strongest villain they fought but now we're seeing villains that make Kid Buu look like nothing and Goku train with the likes of Whis so how does he serve the same purpose after these big changes to the story ?TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Uub was indeed more relevant two decades ago when the series jumped from Buu's defeat to his debut but that doesn't mean he's entirely irrelevant now either. July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Toriyama is changing nothing, Super doesn't take place 6 months after Buu...

Really the fact that they point out that Gohan and Videl were recently married at Bulma's party seem to be a perfect lead in to Videl being pregnant and I personally doubt they would contradict Pan's age.
They are dodging the issue of timeline placements for some reason, which I think is a first for Toriyama in DB. I agree that it doesn't make much sense, that it's first +4 years after Buu, that the public would finally come to know of Mr. Buu, Vegeta finally keeping his promise to Trunks and Mr. Satan finally getting his peace prize, but I think that's the case.

The only thing that says otherwise is one little sentence on a promotional page which obviously has little value compared to what is actually shown and said IN the series.

I'm not sure. I really hope so. The ending was rushed, and I"m pretty sure most fans didn't like it that much. Not to mention, we all like seeing Post-Buu content, so having the Goku leaves with Uub story closes everything off.
Re: Do you think the end of z will be re-written/retconned
As of right now, i don't think Z/Manga ending fit, why would Goku, after travel through different universes, be satisfied with "just" reincarnation of Kid Buu? And whole "When our strongest enemy died, i wished he was reborn as good person" Freeza without Golden form could stomp Kid Buu, and so far we have Beerus and Whis, Universe 7 fighters. GT also is retconned, with no mention of SSJ God and Freeza not using Golden form in Hell.

EoZ is already retconned. The only way EoZ can be kept intact if Toriyama drops the show and calls it non canon. Or all the hakaishins die, all universes except 7 is destroyed and the Z fighters get their memory erased from BoG and onwards
Toyotarō: … I get the feeling I’ve just heard something amazing (laughs). Lord Beerus and Whis turn up in Dragon Ball Super, and have become an unsurpassable wall for Goku and the gang. What do the two of them mean to you?
Toriyama: Well… First off, right now I don’t have any plans for Goku and Vegeta to surpass Beerus and Whis.

This is a comment from Mr.Toriyama, about Battle of Gods: "I tried thinking up an original story, imagining it as though [the manga’s] serialization had continued."
I was always under the impression that the last two chapters might be modified, simply because the author is thinking the story differently. Not limiting himself to make everything fit. This is amplified since we know Mr.Toriyama's forgetful nature.
If it changes, the manga last chapters will still exist. Since both would be creations from the author, there's no need of "canon" discussion. If it happens it just show us the difference, of were the story was going for Mr.Toriyama many years ago, and now without all the burnout.
It's great to actually to be able to choose, what one prefers. Writing Super with the weight of the last two chapters on his back, doesn't suit Mr.Toriyama.

Yes, EOZ is retconned but that doesn´t mean its impossible to happen, there´s nothing stopping it from happening. Like would it stop EoZ from happening if Goku were to use a pink gi instead of blue one during the 28th Tenkaichi Budokai?Faisal Shourov wrote:EoZ is already retconned. Why would Goku stop being interested in Uub?, in fact after his fight with (Golden) Freeza he should be more interested in Uub. If someone with Freeza´s power level (Freeza himself in this case) could reach a power (slightly) higher that Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan with just 4 months of training with a regular mook to boost, not a demigod, then Imagine how much Uub (someone who would have Majin Bu´s powerlevel) could grow if he trains with someone that has Godlike powerlevel (Goku) in that same timeframe.coola wrote:As of right now, i don't think Z/Manga ending fit, why would Goku, after travel through different universes, be satisfied with "just" reincarnation of Kid Buu? Yes, it could happen in similar fashion. But unless Toriyama decides to decanonize Super, we're very likely to see original characters from DBS in the epilogue. I do suspect Beerus missing out from the picture ince he might go to sleep. But Whis should be present in the new EoZ unless he diesNeo-Makaiōshin wrote:Yes, EOZ is retconned but that doesn´t mean its impossible to happen, there´s nothing stopping it from happening. Whis has visited Earth plenty of times without taking permission from Beerus,as he likes the food too much. Toriyama loves Whis so it would make no sense to leave him outNeo-Makaiōshin wrote: Why should he be present in the EoZ in the first place ?

Also I doubt that Toriyama even thinks about eoz and even if he did, he would have zero problems retconning it.

Maybe he remembers how he wrote EoZ and doesn´t put him there. Even if we assume he ends up showing there I don´t see how it makes EoZ impossible, Whis could just be chilling within the audience and nothing major be altered.Faisal Shourov wrote:Whis has visited Earth plenty of times without taking permission from Beerus,as he likes the food too much. Of course. Only reason Beerus will miss out if he goes to sleep. People care about EoZ being intact, but if Toriyama really did want to keep EoZ untouched we woupdn't have new content. Also Toriyama has stated he doesn't care about past, so EoZ might even be changed completely. That's most likely with how Super is going atm. Why bother creating new stuff if nothing from past is changed?ChaosLordBrandon wrote:Beerus would be there as well. Toriyama loves Beerus to.

The day EoZ gets solidified in Super is gonna be beautiful. It's in the manga (regular and Kanzenban), Z and Kai. It's not going anywhere.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Toriyama definitely remembers Oob. He added a few extra pages with Oob to the final chapter in the Kanzenban, he had the final Neko Majin chapter take place after the end of the manga, and Oob appeared, and he said in an interview that he imagines Goku & Oob still training today (or rather, a decade ago, the interview is a little old), plus, he read the manga again in preperation for BoG.MaGyunia wrote:I'd be extremely disappointed if at some point in the future, a few years from now, they did a series even partially focusing on Goku's training of Uub, or revolving around Uub at all. And I think that Uub, although remaining canon, will never be a major character, I bet Toriyama almost forgot he invented him.
