As for KK, I liked it coming back but I'm not crazy about how they needed to retcon the progress made with regular SSJ in the Cell arc (plus contradict themselves with their apparent bullshit excuse for why Goku & Vegeta refrained from using Blue due to stamina problems) to make it happen. Personally, I would've preferred Goku finding new ways to counter act Hit's Time Leap that wasn't just another power up. That's one of the coolest parts of Piccolo vs Frost: how Piccolo finds different ways of staying on his toes despite clearly being outclassed.

One thing I'd have preferred is if the Tournament was on a bigger scale. The World Tournaments have these huge audiences and a larger atmosphere but the Tournament here only had a dozen or so people watching.
In the manga the friends and family of the Universe 6 team where present as well but they weren't there in the anime.

I hadn't even considered that but you're right, Goku pushing his IT to the absolute limit to counter Time Leap would've been awesome as fuck. Especially since the ITs never really been properly stressed out in a prolonged battle after continuous use.Doctor. wrote:I would have loved to have seen an IT vs Time-Leap battle.ekrolo2 wrote:

When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

In fact, it would have been awesome if Goku could predict his time skips and IT when the skips occur, this could do one of two things:
1) Goku times it so that he is in mid phase during his time skip, essentially making him vanish and not exist in that instant the time skip occurs.
2) IT so that Goku is always in a different place when Hit comes out of his Time Skip (Like inside the time skip he sees Goku and about to hit him, but he suddenly vanishes when Hit comes out of the Time Skip and Goku is behind him. )
Wow, I really really really like that idea.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
As others have said it's not over yet, but otherwise I've really enjoyed it. I would have liked to see Buu and Gohan fighting but otherwise it's some of the best content we've had since 1995, especially now that the animators seem to have stepped up their game. If this will be TOEI's standard for the remainder of the series I will be happy with whatever arcs are yet to come.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
It's the best arc in DBS yet, but that's not saying much because the retellings sucked.
Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
The arc started off well.Champa and Vados' appearance in episode 28 was amazing, the way things played out in the episode was great,my only complaint in the episode is that the manga version of Beerus and Champa's fight was miles better than the anime.I actually enjoyed the recap episode and it was nice we got to see some Gohan fanservice. The episode with Bulma and Jaco was quite enjoyable and thee introduction of the Universe 6 combatants played out well.
But like the other guy said,it would be better if they bring out some guys to cheer for the Universe 6 team like the manga version of the arc.Now with the fights, unlike many other people,i actually quite enjoyed the fight between Botamo and Goku, the latter's reaction faces was quite funny.Frost and Goku's fight was quite short, but we get too see some cool stuff, what happened in the episode was very unpredictable. It's also nice to see Piccolo fighting again, but i quite hated how Frost was a bad guy afterall,i kinda prefered him to be good,i also hate how Vegeta told Piccolo to fuck off.The scene with Hit and Frost in episode 35 was one of the coolest stuffs in the series. The fight between Magetta and Vegeta was great and was one of the few strategy-based fights in the series.I was quite disappointed by how Cabba ended up being Uub 2.0.The first part of the fight between Cabba and Vegeta was not that good, mainly due to a stiffy animation, but things picked up once Cabba turned Super Saiyan. The way Vegeta beats Cabba and gives a speech was also quite cool. The fight between Hit and Vegeta was good, but my inner Vegeta fanboy was raging, especially when Base Goku did better than him.The Kaioken x10 sequence was very very well done, using the opening song for the scene was also a very good idea and fits very well. But i hated how the fight turned out and was also annoyed by Goku 95% of the time.As one of those people who expected Monaka to be strong,i was disappointed when he was confirmed to be just an amateur, but his fight with Hit was one of the funniest thing in the series. The scene with Champa trying to kill his team was well done. It's also nice to see someone who can make Beerus and Champa crap their pants, but i gotta admit i quite hated the design of Zenou. The Dragon of the Gods' design was better than i expected and i like how big he is.Overall,a descent arc.Better than the past two arcs.
BTW,there's still at least an episode left for the arc.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
Best arc in Super, for now, but this is not a remarkable accomplishment, considering how were poor the first two (especially the second). Comedy is the highlight of the arc (added as Champa are great), but the fights were not excellent. Piccolo is passed as weaker than Frost, but he perfectly manage it with one hand. The best battles were the last, with Hit and Magetta (top 6 universe characters, in all senses). Great regret for wasted potential, and for not giving the slightest importance to the other characters, like Boo and Piccolo. The explanation for the inability to use the kaioken in previous arcs don't convince me, because the perfect control of Ki Goku had already with the FP. It seemed very lazy justification.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
Compare to GT so far, I think Super is doing better with the story in my opinion. In my opinion this is how I compare the two.
Black Star Dragon Ball Hunt - Bad
Bebi saga - Average
Super 17 saga - Bad
Shadow Dragon saga - Average
vs.
Battle of Gods arc - Average
Revival of F - Bad
Champa saga - Good
Let's hope the 4th story arc/saga in Super will be good. GT has two bad sagas and two average sagas while Super has one good, one average and one bad so far in my opinion.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
I think it's been much better than GT at the same point. Episode 40 of GT was the end of the Baby saga.
Super has had the better story, if you forget the movies it has been much more interesting between introducing Gods of Destruction, bringing Frieza back, introducing a Multiverse and the tournament between two universes.
It's made better usage of the cast because pretty much all the main characters have shown up in it for more than a couple episodes. Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan, Krillin etc were hardly in GT at first, Tien and Yamcha didn't show up much if at all. Plus GT had Pan who was an horrific character.
It's been funnier.
It doesn't feel like filler. The Black Star Dragon Ball saga was very fillerish. There's only one episode of Super that feels like filler to me.
More transformations have been introduced, SSJG, SSJB, Golden Frieza and SSJB Kaioken.
The character designs are better aswell.
So are the fights.
The first 40 episodes of Super vs the first 40 episodes of GT, I don't think it's close.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
Much better than the rest of Super due to the more creative fights (particularly Vegeta vs Magetta and Goku vs Hit), but still not very good overall; primarily because I found the new characters to be quite bland and am still annoyed by certain things (like how the Super Saiyan forms work now and how strong everyone is supposed to be) being kept so unnecessarily cryptic. 5.5 out of 10.
Oh wait, I forgot about Goku grabbing the Galactic King's penis.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.
Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
By Jove was it fun. It feels like a logical continuation from Battle of Gods stylistically, and the vibe I get is definitely a return to the more easygoing atmosphere of the original Dragon Ball.
Toriyama doesn't do serious 'Z'-style storytelling well anymore, if Revival of 'F' is any indication. But light and fantastic stuff like this has always been the heart of his work. It's a slightly awkward but nonetheless decent mesh of DB's tone and DBZ's aesthetics.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
This arc went like an inverted bell curve. The episodes leading to the fight were really great, Super Writers know how to write normal non action pieces. Great. A+ However the tournament was a total wash. It was the Goku and Vegeta show, and they proceeded to mop up the first 4 opponents, heaven forbid that Buu and Piccolo can't take out one of the weaker fighters, and they were pathetically weak as Goku and Vegeta either stayed in base or went Super Saiyan to take them down. And then Hit arrives and the greatest 3 episodes of the series so far falls into our laps just like that. Inverted Bell Curve.
Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
The 5 Universe 6 characters weren't the best characters they've had but for just "Tournament" characters who have generally been throwaway characters in other Tournaments I thought they were better than what we've had up to yet.
Bacterian, Giran, Ranfan, Nam
Fangs, Mummy, Devil Man, Invisible Man, Grandpa Gohan
And then Panput, Man Wolf and all the forgettable ones they had in all other Tournaments.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
Most of my criticisms have already been stated so I'll just say I'd rate it 5.5/10. I really enjoyed episodes 28-30 and most of the other build up, but I thought the tournament itself was very poor. Multiple episodes of Vegeta fighting some Mega Man boss character and then coaching some random kid-type Saiyan is not my idea of excitement. The only battle with some potential (Goku vs Hit) was voided before it could come to a real conclusion. And then they topped it off by reusing the Mr. Satan gimmick to end the tournament with Monaka...no words. *sighs*

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
As tournament arcs go, it was pretty decent. I would have liked to see more focus on the universe 7 fighters other than Goku and Vegeta. Botamo had an interesting ability but more could have been done with him IMO. The reveal of Frost's alignment was disappointing. Magetta was great, but I think more could have been done with Cabba. Hit was an excellent character.
Cool stuff that I upload here because Youtube will copyright claim it: https://vimeo.com/user60967147
Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
Ok so now it really is 100% finished. It had a real good conclusion as well.
The U6 Tournament competitors weren't the best but like I said when compared to other characters who were introduced just for a Tournament then they're pretty good.

Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
It was a fine arc. I liked many of the characters, the comedy was very nice, with some hysterical moments. A highlight was the return to the more interesting fights, were special abilities/speed/endurance matters instead of only power. This was clearly a set up arc, how much is yet to be seen. Please go to Salad Vegeta!
Best Moments:
Best Moments:
- Hit vs Goku - Very cool indeed, so much intensity! It wasn't perfect, in last part of the fight nothing really happened.
- Vegeta fights/teaches Cabba - A continuation to the development of Vegeta, coupled with a fun fight. Nice to see a return of Vegeta's pride on his heritage. Cabba calling Vegeta master was great!
- Beerus and Champa back-and-forth - Entertaining to say the least, it really is a sibling relationship.
Re: What did you think of the Champa arc?
I think the arc is shaping up nicely, all the tournament fights were really creative and they had some great character moments thrown in. I am looking forward to see what happens next but for now I think it's a nice addition to the series.
