The New Tenkaichi Budokai ?

We know Dragon Ball likes to re-use concepts; this new Twelve Universe Tournament has everything to be the new Tenkaichi Budokai.

The old tournament was left behind the moment Goku won it, outgrowing the scope the tournament could reach. Now we have a need for it again, to keep Goku motivated, instead of just looking for a successor, like it has become the tendency since the Cell Arc.
It would keep a steady flow of new characters, even if most would be one note.
While offering chances for plots: Guy from Universe 3 " Goku, you and your crew are awesome, would you come to our home planet to help us with unmanned threat", for example.

It would be kinda like the old Dragon Ball.

The possibilities are many. I just hope it doesn't start soon. I expect at least one or two arcs before it starts.

I'm going to go ahead and predict that Goku does not win this multiverse tournament.

He only won one tournament and even that was barely achieved.

That's what I hope. With the Omni King liking the first tournament so much, that he makes it a cyclical event. The characters would always have a goal in the back of their mind. They would improve by fighting threats and learning new techniques in-between. All while introducing new characters and infinite plot opportunities.

I hope the event is like a huge festival, maybe giving the opportunity for characters like Tenshinhan and Kuririn to participate. Even if we only see them throw a punch or two, in the preliminary's. Simply to have them be martial artists again, place in the top 30 of the whole Multiverse would be satisfying enough.

I'd fucking love that. Having a new cyclical tournament would give long term purpose for training besides the old "what else are we going to do?". It would be the old format on a larger scale.

I'm hoping that the structure of the next tournament is such that it allows for preliminaries and the like, so we can see everyone shine a little bit.

Toriyama is going to have to come up with dozens of different designs for multiverse tournament. I can see Yamamuro and Toyotaro pitching in a couple of ideas as well
