Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
The idea is to have everyone grade Super's arcs. Giving it a number from 0 to 100. I would then calculate the community's average and other stats that might pop out.
I have to ask for people to justify their grade, this is Kanzenshuu after all. Posts like "0 because it sucks" or "100 because it's Dragon Ball" don't fit the bill and I'll ignore them. It doesn't need to be an essay, just justify your opinion, please.
Feel free to respectfully comment on others opinions or make predictions regarding the grades, stuff like that.
Current statistics(33 inputs):
Battle of Gods
Average - 67,24
Highest individual grade - 90
Lowest individual grade -30
Revival of Freeza
Average - 45,34
Highest individual grade - 90
Lowest individual grade - 0
Champa Arc
Average - 82,94
Highest individual grade - 100
Lowest individual grade - 50
Dragon Ball Super Overall
Average - 65,19
I'll update this periodically, no deadline.

Re: Kanzenshuu Grades DB Super by Arcs!
Battle of gods arc: 76/100, this arc did it what it was supposed to do, however considering that this is an anime series and not a movie, I would have loved for some things to be expanded upon. I know some things were expanded upon, but those were in the extended cut and were not the things I was hoping to be expanded upon.
ROF arc: 40/100, Episode 19-27 were the worst episodes of Super in my opinion. It had no chances from the movies, plus the fights were piss poor. Tagoma/ginyu thing was a wasted opportunity, and piccolo died for no reason, other than i guess to add fake tension. The only thing I liked was gohan development(which has yet to be explored).
U6 arc: 88/100: This was the most enjoyable arc for me. Waiting for episodes was actually really fun and I enjoyed most of the fights. The dragon ball world expanded to new heights and we got to tenkaichi budokai and see so many of the old techniques of characters. Episodes like #39 were just straight epic.Universe 6 characters had a great personality and techniques(except frost), and I would like to see them in the near future. Other than power level and timeline issues, this arc had no problems and everything made sense. Also had a nice conclusion wrapping things up nicely.

Battle of gods arc: 70/100.
I felt this arc was much better than the movie especially the SSG transformation felt more godly and aspects of the beerus/goku fight were brilliant. However, in parts the animation wasn't at its best!
Revival of F arc: 40/100.
I just felt like there was nothing to be excited about in this arc and the movies did everything better. Tagoma was built up to show freeza training to get pointlessly washed aside for ginyu. Piccolos death was pointless and the animation was terrible.
Universe 6 arc: 90/100.
I think the animation on this arc started slowly but gradually improved which I think super is doing as a whole. It brought new characters such as Hit and Magetta that I found really interesting. The arc was full of opportunities to expand the DB story which is exciting.

Re: Kanzenshuu Grades DB Super by Arcs!
Battle of Gods: 70/100 - It was good for an introduction to the new show, with good new characters (although recycled from the movie) and a simple but good plot, being developed way better than its movie counterpart. It featured some bad animation, choreography and music (a recurring problem in Super, IMO), but apart from that, I have no major complaints.
Revival of F: 45/100 - The worst arc in all Dragon Ball, by far (and I'm including all GT arcs in that list). An unnecessary revival of Frieza, who had already fulfilled his role in the story, boring plot, lame new characters and the same problems BoG had, but worse. The only thing that could be good in that arc was Tagoma, but they managed to screw even that with that Ginyu Change.
Universe 6: 90/100 - This arc truly revamped the series. The new characters are great (except for Frost and Monaka), the plot reminds me of the old Tenkaichi Budokais (which means it's great), and they improved animation and choreography a lot (it's not perfect yet, but it gets better by the day). Some episodes (especially 39) were as good as some of the best DB and DBZ episodes. This arc was true Dragon Ball material.

Re: Kanzenshuu Grades DB Super by Arcs!
Battle of Gods arc: The first couple of episodes were pretty neat slice of life episodes - some may have said that they started the series off slow but I disagree. Some measure of continuity was necessary between the defeat of Kid Buu and the start of Dragon Ball Super, which fell right in place before the emergence of Beerus. Some episodes were absolutely awful in animation, especially infamous number 5. At times it seemed like I was watching a fan animation, it did not even feel like a real Dragon Ball series. But Super started to show its strength in the later parts of this arc - the Super Saiyan God transformation was spectacular and befitting of the massive amount of power Goku gained. The fight between Goku and Beerus was epic - I did not expect it to be drawn out to such a degree. The Universe almost collapsed! That's a pretty impressive display of power, although I fear it might also be contradicted in later arcs if Goku exceeds his Super Saiyan God level of power and punches someone with all of his might and the Universe doesn't shake. Overall, I give this arc a 75/100.
Revival of F arc: I enjoyed how this arc started off, it continued the food gags that have been a staple of Dragon Ball since the beginning. Vegeta begging Whis to train him was one of the most entertaining moments of Dragon Ball, and that the one food to rule them all was not a fancy dish prepared by a five star chef but rather Instant Ramen was hilarious. As with the Battle of Gods arc, there were moments of bad animation - but storywise I thought it was good. As for the fight with Frieza, it pretty much went just like the movie. The major differences were the initial assault with the 1000 warriors. There was an acknowledgement of Majin Buu's absence, and we saw some character development with Gohan (which I think might be a longer spanning plot, who knows?). He slacked off on his training and grew weaker, and he realized it - I was glad to see him commit to training once again. The death of Piccolo was kind of an echo of the Saiyan Saga and kind of sets up another running gag in the series (Goku forgetting to wish King Kai back to life), it was an unexpected moment for sure. Jaco is my favorite "new" character of Dragon Ball. Overall, I give this arc a 70/100.
Champa arc: THIS.... THIS is what I had hoped for when Dragon Ball Super was first announced around this time last year. New characters, new levels of power, new techniques and of course new gags. The heart and soul of Dragon Ball was in full display during the course of the tournament. Even the initial set up wasted no time in getting to the point. Champa visits Beerus to show off Universe 6 foods, but of course he becomes jealous of Universe 7 having Earth. So he proposes a tournament and reveals that he collected six Super Dragon Balls that were the size of planets. I have a feeling that there may be more episodes of "The Adventures of Bulma and Jaco in Space With Jaco Constantly Fearing For His Life Because Bulma Is Rather Aggressive To Him". There were a lot of moments where I laughed out loud while watching the raw - I didn't understand the dialogue, but I didn't need to. When Jaco switched places with Oolong, that was funny in any language. When Goku grabbed the Galactic King's peepee, that was funny in any language. Now, let's discuss the multitude of new characters this arc introduced. Botamo might be a throwaway character. I also didn't like Frost turning out to be evil after all - but if we see him again maybe he might have a change of heart, especially knowing that he shares the same Universe as Hit who can kick his ass in a blink of an eye, or Cabba who is most certainly stronger now that he can go Super Saiyan. Magetta was an interesting character, we might see him again. Goku has a new rival with Hit, who remains a very mysterious character. Why did he need that cube? Maybe we'll never know. Cabba was my favorite - and the potential character development between him and Vegeta is huge. I strongly feel Akira Toriyama is going to make him a new major character. The storyline was unpredictable, every episode brought new surprises, and I was chomping at the bit for the next one. Seven days is a huge amount of time to wait now, and it's all because of Dragon Ball Super. In 75 hours, 10 minutes, I'll be watching the next episode. The exact amount of time I have to wait for the next one is constantly on my mind, it has given me something to look forward to, even when there are days that I feel like there is no future for me. Saturdays are never a dull day, because I know that at night it is 9:00 AM on Sunday in Japan. This is the exact same feeling I had when I first got into Dragon Ball Z. Because of all of this, I cannot justify a score lower than 100/100 for this arc. Is it perfect? No. But it is one of the best arcs in all of Dragon Ball - so far, and it's certainly among my favorites.

Re: Kanzenshuu Grades DB Super by Arcs!
60/100 BOG Arc. It did pretty much everything worse than the movies, and did practically nothing interesting a retelling can do. That said it touched up a few small things, and at least tried to add some more stakes with the universe stuff. It however has shit choreography except for a few moments. It wastes the Pilaf gang. It's in an even more boring area typical of bad One Piece. It takes away an interesting Goku moment. Begins the Gohan is shit train. Over dramatizes Vegeta and Bulma. Removes the joke of Beerus destroying earth. Silly ki dragons that could have been something, but ended up being Jojo wannabe Stands. Notorious animation. It's barely passable.
20/100 F arc. It's awful. Really. I can think of barely anything it improved. Freeza is a bit more threatening, but Goku's smart play is not even around. Vegeta's beatdown was better...sorta. Less dumb ring scene. No 1.3 million line. Blue gets a cooler reveal. That's about it. Ginyu shouldn't be here at all. Ginyu being here was a complete waste for another Vegeta kill. Tagoma the biggest promise in lunacy was completely wasted. The fighting was utter shit. Gohan sucks some more. Krillin can sense everyone, and yet is a moron for no reason. Complete lack of tension. Piccolo dies for no good reason and is wished back as it meant nothing. Mook rush which was the "best" fight last time was so lame this time. Worst shit I've ever seen.
75/100 U6. It started off poorly, but got a lot better around when Piccolo fought Frost. After that we get interesting fights. We get new characters. New reveals. Some interesting banter. Basically the only bad was LOLGOKUVEGETASHOW!, and the early poor boring animation. Other than that the fights were at least satisfactory, with a couple good ones. The first worthy arc.
Now to wait til this turns from individual grades, to OMG YOU'RE WRONG I'M GONNA ARGUE WITH YOU NOW AND RUIN THE THREAD!

Re: Kanzenshuu Grades DB Super by Arcs!
Battle of Gods: 40/100
Bad animation to the level of generating worldwide memes.
Some embarassing and convoluted moments (destroy the world if someone provoke Beerus... someone provoke Beerus... wait, destroy the world if food is bad... food is bad... wait, destroy the world if Oolong loose JanKenPo... Oolong loose... wait, destroy the world if Goku lose... Goku lose... wait...).
New important characters for the whole series are introduced, and Beerus is a big franchise element, but they're caged in the movie structure they originally went from.
Revival of F: 0/100
WTF level reachin' the stars.
Characters out of roles. Pokemon got more coherency between arcs. Gohan became a bishi, Roshi strong as a Frieza soldier, Gotenks now last 1 second, who write the script didn't watch a single episode of DB.
No need for the whole thing, the dramatic factors are gone by silly representations and rushed narration.
Rules introduced in BoG are thrown away to quickly skip this horror (you can become SSBlue by willpower... no ritual, so why the ritual in the first arc?).
And a Deus ex Machina ending that not even kids would like.
The whole bag of horrors is packaged into static frontal portraits and linear animations. It seems a slideshow of fan art.
This one smell like filler as nothing did before.
Universe 6: 80/100
The real deal. This one show the difference of translating a movie into a series and something conceived to be episodic. Perfect hype factor. More accurated animations. And this was only an introductory arc. I like almost any character, and how some will created so much discussion. There was some humour, some tense moments, some nice fanservice. I can't complain anything, if only some CGI that could have been done with more care, they look too Flash-toon like.

Re: Kanzenshuu Grades DB Super by Arcs!
BOG : There wasn't enough material to turn this into an arc, especially a 14 episode arc and it shows. The series' 1st fight which was in ep5 couldn't have been handles any worse and not only did it hurt the arc but Super in general. on the positive side of things we got a better Ssjg transformation and the last 2 episodes were great so I'm giving this a 70/100.
RF : This is the complete opposite of BOG, it had a lot that could work in an arc and overall, it did. we got to see a lot more from Goku and Vegeta's training, The Z fighters had a harder fight against Freeza and his men, Freeza was fighting dirty from the start and beat Goku up using his Golden form, the ending was extended and improved and most importantly for me, Vegeta finally got promoted to main hero status, it was his idea to train with Whis and he was the 1st to be trained by him, he reached Goku's level without the ritual and defeated his 1st main villain, Freeza. so I'm giving this a 90/100 which would've been higher if the animation during Goku's fight wasn't so bad.
Champa : Finally, after nearly 20 years we have a new DB arc and it delivered. the story expanded the universe, especially the ending with the announcement about the 12 universe tournament. we were also introduced to a new Saiyan and might visit an alternate Saiyan planet. the animation and fights were great, especially Goku's with Hit. The arc promoted 5 fighters taking on the u6 ones and it didn't happen which is why I'm giving it an 80/100.
These ratings are for Super only and are not being compared to the 3 other series.
Although there have been some missteps, I think Super has a bright future ahead of it and I can't wait to see what's coming next.

BoG arc: 75/100 It did almost everything decent episode 4 is unnecessary episode 5 left a huge scar on Super. The SSG transformation was a lot more dramatic in Super than it is in the movie. The fights are awesome a lot better than the movie apart from episode 5.
ROF arc: 40/100 Terrible story telling 80% of the action had no choreography(off modeled as helll) whatsoever. Tagoma/Ginyu and SSB Vegeta are the best parts of RoF. The transformations are beautiful and has perfect music placement. This arc gave Super curable aids.
Champa/U6 arc: 85/100 The fights gradually gets better as more episodes come along choreography was decent. The story telling was meh but it introduce some cool concepts for the future of Super, memorable characters, interesting techniques and great music placement. Overall great arc Super is heading in the right direction looking forward for more.

BoG arc: 80/100
A decent adaption that changed up just barely enough from its source to make it worth a watch, but doesn't quite make the mark due to extending its length to about twice the running time of the film's extended cut.
RoF arc: 85/100
I feel that the arc does a lot better than the film when it comes to story even though the new content still has quite a bit of holes. also marked down due to its over-extended running time.
U6 arc: 95/100
brand new content that made it just more fun to watch and learn about the new characters. the only real issues i have with this arc is consistent with the rest of Super being its rushed animation quality, though my expectations were tempered going into the series due to it being a weakly Toei shonen.

Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
Battle of Gods: The BOG retelling was quite good despite its problems. For the most part, the Super retelling was better than the movie itself, and I freakin love the movie. Super's BOG arc fleshed out Beerus' character better, provided more lore than the movie did, gave screen-time to more characters than I expected, handled the fights better, the SSJG ritual was far more impressive and the ending was much less anticlimactic and fit in more with Beerus' character. However, there were some concepts in the retelling were really fumbled with. The movie handled the Pilaf Gang much better, the soundtrack was also superior, the movie also developed Goku's character, the movie had more well-timed comedy as a whole, the pacing during the SSG/Beerus portion of fight was not that great and of course there was... Episode 5. Which unfortunately Super will never live down. Regardless of the major misfires of Super's BOG arc, it was very decent arc at the very least. - 75/100
Revival of Freeza: Oh God. This abomination. Brace yourself folks, I'm about to go on a rant.
Okay, the arc started off fine, the slice of life episode in which Vegeta coaxed Whis into training him was hilarious. Goku and Vegeta training provided some good moments. And then Freeza came to Earth, and the arc fell off a cliff.
One of the great things about the Z-Fighters taking on Freeza's army in Resurrection F was that is was less about the Saiyans and more about the earthlings in terms of defending Earth in Goku and Vegeta's absence, but it that wasn't to be the case with Super. Instead we get Jaco sitting out of the whole damn fight, Krillin suddenly shitting himself and Gohan just... I don't even know what what to call was he went through during that arc. I still wonder to this day what happened with Gohan during the ROF arc. One second he seems like he was about to get another rage boost (yay?) and is gonna do some damage, and then... he just passess out. And Gohan has a look on his face like he saw a ghost or was possessed by a demon. Then in comes Goku to save his son's ass... again. And to make matters worse, his rage boost was just basically used as a signal for Goku and Vegeta to IT to Earth. So the whole rage boost was just a bloody red herring. Honestly, I'm starting to side with the people who say that Toei have a hidden agenda against Gohan to make him look as big as a loser as possible. What a fucking cop out that whole scenario was. But what happened afterwards was even more bullshit. Freeza's army were haplessly killed when Freeza was just powering up .I was also very disappointed that. It felt such a big waste in the end. Freeza shouldn't have even bothered to bring Tagoma and Sorbet to Earth if that was how things were gonna go down. At very least we got to see Tagoma kick ass in Super, when he didn't and should have, in Resurrection F. He feels like much of threat and has more a personality to him. But in the end he was wasted for the sake the sake of Ginyu will steal his body, on top of that they wasted Ginyu as well by having him be fodder for Vegeta to blast away. So they wasted Tagoma for a gag and then blew the gag. Ugh. I'd make a mention of Gotenks, but why bother? His presence in the arc was meaningless. He literally fused for a dick joke. The animation for the fight as a whole was terrible too. The movie version of the Z-Fighters vs Freeza's Army was just way better in every department. Oh, and Piccolo died. But... Dragon Balls, yo. You know the deal.
Total bullshit.
And then we got to the Goku and Freeza fight itself. Holy shit, what a stinker of a fight that was as a whole. Mostly off model animation, along with bad fight choreography and horrible placed music made that fight a chore to sit through. It was basically Episode 5 three times over. The only saving graces of the entire portion of the Goku/Freeza fight, was Tate's awesome cut during the SSJB/Golden Freeza portion of the battle and fixing the Sorbert Ring scene.
The final episode saved this arc from being Super 17 arc level bad. Just barely. It was pretty awesome, by my own admission. The beatdown of Golden Freeza at the hands of SSJB Vegeta was extremely well done, but I have to really tip my hat to Toei at how Freeza blowing up Earth was handled. It was way more dramatic and downright heartbreaking as we got to see the Z-Fighters showing genuine despair at Earth being destroyed, which really helped sell the event as more of a tragedy than how it was played out in Resurrection F where the Z-Fighters showed little to no care. The ending of the arc provided so much more closure than the movie did.
However, that episode it marred by one the laziest, half assed and most bullshit reasoning for a strength increase for a character I have seen: Vegeta becoming a Super Saiyan Blue without having to become a Super Saiyan God, which was stated to be mandatory for any user to achieve the form in the first place. Instead, Vegeta became a Super Saiyan Blue by just training. Question time. How can Vegeta be able to tap into Godly Ki if he's never been exposed to it in the first place? It doesn't make any sense. Super has essentially told us you don't need to become a Super Saiyan God to become a Super Saiyan Blue/Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan or attain Goldly Ki. You just need to do the right kind of training, and you're set.
Total bullshit.
I mean, if you can just train and attain Goldly Ki and become monstrously strong training with Whis' for at least 6 months, then guys like Gohan, Goten, Trunks, Piccolo, have no right not being on the same tier of strength as Goku and Vegeta are right now. They should all be Super Saiyan Blue/Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan tier strength. But they aren't because... reasons. I don't know why none of them thought it would be good idea to ask Whis to train them especially since Goku tells the Z-Fighters that is exactly how Vegeta got so insanely strong in the first place. I mean, why on Earth was the form officially called Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan in the first place? Why even bother introducing the Super Saiyan God transformation if you in the end you don't need it? What was so special about Whis' training with Vegeta that took him from SSJ2 tier to SSJ God tier in 6 months yet after Goku trained with Whis' for just two months less than that time he's still weaker than Golden Freeza? Goku should have never said in Super, when he became a Super Saiyan Blue, that the form was the result of a “Saiyan who’s a Super Saiyan with the power of Super Saiyan God”. That line, in my opinion, destroys any kind of loophole that can be given for Vegeta skipping Super Saiyan God to become a Super Saiyan Blue. It just doesn't add up. If Goku doesn't explicitly say that line, I wouldn't have that much of an issue with Vegeta going straight to Super Saiyan Blue without the Super Saiyan God transformation, because nothing is really established or implied about how the form is achieved. But Goku flat out states the basic circumstances of how he attained the form. And that's the big problem. If we have to accept that Vegeta became a Super Saiyan Blue without becoming a Super Saiyan God, then we have to ignore everything Goku said about how he became a Super Saiyan Blue in Resurrection F and Dragon Ball Super. I know Dragon Ball has had a history of breaking its own rules, but the pure lack of explanation as to how Vegeta made the leap from SSJ2 tier to SSJB tier without the use of SSJG reek of fucking laziness. The writers of Super just flat out didn't bother trying to make any sense of the scenario. It's kinda insulting. It's a big, fat fucking plothole now matter what way you look at it. And in the process: the Z-Fighters look like idiots for not bothering to ask Whis to train them, the Super Saiyan God transformation has become pointless and Vegeta is a special snowflake in the power hierarchy.
Total bullshit.
The Resurrection F retelling was one of the worst things the franchise has ever produced and I will always be belligerent towards its existence. It's absolute horse shite. It's utter bollocks. It's a waste of time and effort. The brief titbits from Vados and Champa are what ultimately kept me going during the dark days of this arc. Damn near everything in Super retelling of Resurrection F was very lackluster compared to the Resurrection F movie. From animation, to music, to fight choreography, to use of characters. Do yourself a favour and watch the movie instead. - 30/100 (30 representing the amount of minutes worth of content the arc as a whole provided that was worth a damn).
...Total bullshit.
Champa Arc: Without a doubt the best arc of Super so far and one of the best arcs the Dragon Ball franchise has ever produced. There was a bit of a rough start but it got so much better as it progressed. Hit vs Goku was phenomenal, the beatdown Vegeta received from Hit was one of the best the franchise has ever produced, Magetta was a wonderfully charming and unique character, Champa stole the show with everything he did or said, Hit was awesome in all regards, the lore provided was the best since the Saiyan arc, the ending was brilliantly handled and Omni-King was adorably great. I hated how Frost's character was wasted, Goku vs Botamo was disappointing and the summoning of Super Shenlog could have/should have been better. But everything else about this arc, from the fights, to the comedy, to the character interactions, was either good or great. - 90/100

Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
BoG: 80/100.
The added stuff was good and some of the fights were a lot better than the movie but holy hell Goku vs Beerus dragged a lot.
RoF: 85/100.
Improved the movie's story A LOT. The return of Ginyu ranks as one of the best moments for me in the series.
U6: 90/100.
Best arc of the bunch. The tournament had it's ups and downs but it was at least entertaining. Piccolo vs Frost and Goku vs Hit are easily in my top 10 of best fights in the series.

Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
BoG: 30/100.
I already had problems with the BoG film, so I guess it's expectable I would not enjoy a downgraded version that much.
Good points? Beerus and Whis as characters.
RoF: 1/100.
Oh man.
You take an already appailing movie and re-animate it ten times worse, with awful choreographic and lackluster music to top it all.
Let's get one of the most beloved villians in battle shonen and bring him back to life, but wait! Let's have him train 3 months to get to God level and then he fights the main characters, but there's more! The main characters happen to have a NEW TRANSFORMATION! so the villian gets utterly destroyed in like two hours.
What was the point?
An absolute joke.
U6: 50/100.
And then we get to the meat of the matter, the main dish, the selling point of the series.
The concept is alright, but it lacks impact. It comes by as weak.
Champa as a character is too much like Beerus for me, and I get he's his twin brother, but he lacks distintive traits that make him stand out. Vados is almost non existant, so yeah.
And then we have this new cast of interesting characters, but what the writers have done with them is the exact same thing that made GT so meh: Interesting concepts and ideas, but terrible execution.
I won't even talk about Botamo, so about Frost: he is just another Frieza when he could have been an interesting one; a twist of an already beloved character. And I'm not saying that he should be a saint or a completely good guy, but they could have made him deep, fearsome, and not so undimensional.
For the most part I like Magetta, and he's literally a big robot so there ins't much you can make with him given the series, so hes alright.
And then there's Cabba. Oh man! An actual canon Saiyan that isn't related to the main characters! When was the last time we had something like this? I won't get to harsh on this one since his character is the best thing in Super so far. At least there's room for growth! (not that I have faith in the writers tho).
What I didn't like in his fight against Vegeta is that he literally gets the Super Saiyan mode like it's nothing. Other characters suffer death and pain in order to get it and then he comes and unlocks it just by raging a bit when it could have been an important element of a future arc.
Fight was ok.
Hit is just another Pikkon, too bland to even say something about him.
-Here's this guy. He's on par with the Gods!
- Nice! But what is he like personality wise? Where does he come from? What are his motives?
-I don't know, he just skips time and stands in a corner with a serious face.
His fight against was the best fight in Super, but as the finale of an arc this important it was just meh.
As a whole, I haven't enjoyed Super very much. What could have been an amazing series with memorable fights and characters (not just Goku and Vegeta), good comedy and great adventure turn out to be a poor made, rushed, product.
The music is bad, the direction is just awful (I don't care about animation that much -only in the really important points- but what I hate is the colors, the shots, the line-art, the illumination, the composition) and the plot doesn't help either (this wouldn't be a problem if the visuals and the music were amazing and other characters got to shine).

Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
Battle of Gods: D; humor run into the ground; absolutely uncompelling fight impact and choreography; so sloppily produced we never even got an explanation on the Pilaf's gang's reduced age. An arc designed to catch audiences up who may not have seen the movie that didn't really care about catching audiences up who may not have seen the movie. Just a huge, bizarre mess.
Slice-of-life episodes between the first two arcs: A
Freeza: F; As in, eff this whole arc; I think it's handily the worst in the entire franchise, though the movie version is fun. Shout-out to Champa and Vados' introductory scene though, which is a stellar thirty or so seconds. Also that one Tate cut.
Champa: C-B? I'd probably have to give this another watch. The animation problems and uninspired storyboarding are kind of frustrating in the early fights, especially for something that depends so much on spectacle, but Goku vs. Hit is as good a final round as we've ever had. It wound up being genuinely exciting. I feel like this will hold up better on rewatches when the weekly frustration with its production problems isn't there. Hit is one of the most compelling side characters we've gotten in a while too, even though he seemed incredibly generic at the start. I really hope we get more appearances from him. I'd be happy to follow this cosmically powerful Tao Pai Pai around Universe 6 for a while.
I went with letters because fuck the police.

Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
BoG 7.5/10
- Goku Beerus fight was better than the movie, even though the animation was kinda wonky at times.
RoF 6/10
- Slice of life eps were great. Humor was awesome
- I liked the God Ki elaboration (even though it was 5% of what it should have been)
- Goku v. Freeza was awful in every respect
- Vegeta v. Freeza was fantastic
U6 8/10
- Enjoyed Champa, Vados, Cabba, Hit as characters
- Goku v. Botamo was crap animation
- Goku v. Frost had some awesome choreography, but if that was the end of Frost, it's a waste
- Piccolo v. Frost, shoulda let Piccolo have his moment
- Vegeta v. Frost, too short
- Vegeta v. Cabba/Mageta
- Hit fights
(SS Blue Kaioken was best moment in the series after Vegeta Frieza fight)
- Monaka = hilarious
- Zeno is kinda cute/funny, but I'm getting tired of the dorky character designs. Let's have a badass for the King of all 12 universes. Seems like Buu arc all over again where Toriyama has DB burnout and just goes with the wackiest designs. Hope that's not the case here
- Summoning: The digital movement/zooming was painful, but otherwise I enjoyed the summoning
- Goku Beerus fight was better than the movie, even though the animation was kinda wonky at times.

Erm, Champa is way more arrogant, flamboyant and lacks the self-awareness that Beerus has. Vados also manipulates Champa by using his own words/statements to her own accord. There are people who think she is a villain. I don't see how either of those statements are true.Avok wrote: Champa as a character is too much like Beerus for me, and I get he's his twin brother, but he lacks distintive traits that make him stand out. Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
Updated. Didn't count the last two since they don't fit the system.
I'll post my own grades soon. I've seen some interesting opinions. It's nice to see the points of connect and disconnect, some things stir people much more than others. Nice to see the nuance of the community.
Some people already discriminate the arcs by these formats, maybe for another thread. I prefer this to be in wide strokes.ChronoTwigger wrote:(suggestion: individual grades for charaters and for fights. As plotwise and for design)
So, fuck me? Yeah, I know you didn't mean it that way. This still leaves me perplexed, in the context of the thread it couldn't be more out of place.Cipher wrote:I went with letters because fuck the police.

BoG: 50/100
Enjoyed it when it started off but started to feel like it was dragging on and I found myself really bored, especially towards the Beerus vs Goku fight IMO.
RoF: 35/100
Once again I felt it didn't start off too bad, I didn't even mind some of the changes or additions. At first I didn't mind the whole Tagoma Ginyu thing, I was like oh cool Ginyu's back. But they eliminated him so quickly and then i thought about how random it was and how it made Tagoma's potential go to waste so overall more bad then good. As for the main event, Goku vs Freeza...ugh. I can't say much other then it made me want to put off dragon ball for a bit until it was finished because I wasn't enjoying it at all. The animation certainly didn't help either. Vegeta beating down on Freeza was on par with the film imo - good.
The end bits like the Earth blowing up showing all the families really added more impact to the situation and the end party scene was a nice wrap up compared to the films rather lackluster ending ,but overall blegh - it's the type of arc/episodes I'd consider on skipping on rewatches. But to be fair I didn't enjoy the film too much either
U6/Champa: 90/100
This time a slow start, but got better and better as it went on. I like Champa, Vados, Magetta, Cabba and Hit as characters.
As for the fights, most were good or decent enough others ehh not so much. Goku vs Botamo was boring and the animation made it all the worse, however in the manga I found the fight fun and kinda cute how Goku dragged Botamo around like nothing then ringed him out. Frost I don't know how to feel about him, he was a cool idea (no pun intended) and I didn't mind the plot twist that he was evil so much but it did make him less interesting + he didn't get to do much to make himself as an interesting enough character to me. He's a character I think can potentially change once again to be more on the neutral side and possibly be an acquaintance to Goku and co. in the future. Will just have to see - I'm probably dead wrong though. As for his fights, Goku vs Frost was ok but a bit lackluster. I was definitely hoping to see more out of Piccolo vs Frost, and Vegeta vs Frost wasn't really a fight - just one hit ko.
I enjoyed most of Magetta vs Vegeta but it was a bit forgettable besides return of the final flash. Cabba vs Vegeta was sweet even if one-sided for the most part, some interesting choreography and a heartwarming ending. Cabba is such a sweet little guy, hope to see more of him and hope to get to see him trained up.
Hit vs Vegeta was domination, at least Vegeta tried to put up a fight. Liked how emotionless and intimidating Hit was portrayed like you had no idea what he was gonna do or what he was up to. That and his ability is cool.
Goku vs Hit easily the best fight to me, nice to see Goku be the battle strategist that he is and give Hit a good run for his money. Wasn't big on super blue god x kaioken but I didn't mind it either and that portion of the fight even though short made for some goosebump inducing fighting with the opening inserted song and fast paced fighting. Also nice to see Hit win even if Goku ringed himself out he was basically done for anyway as the kaioken destroyed his body. The Monaka portion was pretty hilarious to me, and sweet to see Goku rubbed off Hit maybe just a little bit to fake himself get knocked out.
Ah and the best part of all, Goku accidentally grabbing Galactic Kings dick - classic dragon ball humor. The omni-king was a bit sudden but I didn't mind, opened up many roads to potential future arcs which is always great. And he is the cutest potentially most dangerous little thing I've seen, his servants were interesting too. The dragon ball being the nameless planet was a bit predictable and cliché but nothing that bothered me too much. As for the dragon summoning, god damn that dragon is bigger than anything I would've imagined, pretty much my whole mind was melted trying to take in that summoning. And the wish Beerus made for his brother was very cute and something I did not see coming, but I wonder if wishing back Universe 6's Earth will bring unforeseen consequences...?
Overall a great arc that had me wanting to tune in to find out what happened each week and now has left me looking forward to the next arc wherever it goes.

Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
I just wrote them that way without thinking about it and was being facetious.LightBing wrote:So, fuck me? Yeah, I know you didn't mean it that way. This still leaves me perplexed, in the context of the thread it couldn't be more out of place.

Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
First of all... I want to point out my dislike towards BOG and FnF Arcs, especially towards FnF.
I want to make a comparison between the arcs and movies.
Battle of Gods Arc:
It definitely would have been a big opportunity to transform the movie into an arc, but the result was not quite the way it might have been, after all.
Contras towards the movie version and in general:
- I didn't really like that was no mention about the Original Super Saiyan God at all, neither about his conflict with the evil Saiyans.
- No mention about how Freeza would possibly know about Super Saiyan God, when Vegeta didn't.(they miss the opportuniy expand upon this)
- Dende sensing Beerus being weaker then maybe Yajibore(even if his a kami of Earth) when Piccolo couldn't having Kami already hused with him.
- The animation in some episodes(!)
- Vegeta cooking
- The lack of the Pilaf Gang scene with enprisoning Trunks.
Pros in general:
- The Super Saiyan God ritual and transformation(yeah, that's te way it should)
- The Namekian Book of Legends
I'd give it a 70/100.
Resurrection F Arc
Totally pointless boring plot. The worst Arc and idea in my opinion. The only good thing about is the SSJ Blue aura(not the form) to appear right in this Arc.
10/100
Champa Arc.
This should have been the single stroy arc to expand upon. It was handled quite well, and the episode 39 felt like a decent Dragon Ball episode. The Kaio-ken SSB was a quite good idea and it seemed to look alright in animation. The only negative point I my come up with is Zen'o's design, to be honest I don't like it one bit.
