What was the first piece of content you saw of GT?
Re: What was the first piece of content you saw of GT?
First EVER piece of GT I saw was in my dreams. No joke
When DBZ ended, I was 12. A show which was my heart, life, soul, H20, O2 came to an end without me even realizing it was the final episode (Goku flyin with a random kid).
I tuned into Channel to watch the following week. The telecasted fuckin Digimon!!!!
I was vexed. Heart-broken. Slept. Dreamt
Scenario: a tailed-kid & adult guy (in brown singlet) standing next to each-other lookin at a White Giant from distance walkin towards them in a desert.
Do anyone recall this particular shot in GT
Yes. It was among the 1st shots of Ep 63. Kid Goku & Base Vegeta standing-up to Omega after their Fusion & SSJ4 states wore-out.
Can you even believe this? I never knew about existence of a show as GT, yet the connection I had with the show actually showed me a glimpse of GT's penultimate sequence.

Re: What was the first piece of content you saw of GT?
The old box art for Final Bout with adult base form Gokû on it, on display for rentals at a Blockbuster. I thought the character on the cover had a cute design.
Probably also their first DB thing I ever saw, before I knew what DB was.
Spoiler:
On hiatus.
Re: What was the first piece of content you saw of GT?
I don't remember the song at all, but I'm pretty sure I was introduced through a music video my brother downloaded way back in 2001 or something (back when Kazaa lite was big). It had scenes from the Baby Arc like Goku first transforming into SS4.
Re: What was the first piece of content you saw of GT?
My first piece of GT was Final Bout
A little too late but yeah, I've been officially active in Kanzenshuu for ten years

Re: What was the first piece of content you saw of GT?
You know what.. It was Final Bout for me as well... I just remembered. Can't believe it slipped my mind. I still remember renting it from Blockbuster (good old days...), while still only having just gotten into Dragon Ball. I can't even recall of the episode where Goku turned Super Saiyan had aired yet. I don't think so.
So much about it confused me, but it was my first exposure to GT, even though I didn't know GT was a series yet.
International channel was the first time I actually watched it though, and how I learned it was a series was with the SBC figures.
Also, all this talk about things like Kazaa and its malware filled-ness is really bringing back the memories! I remember downloading horrific quality files of movie 8 and 12 through this crazy program I didn't understand called "Bittorrent".
I also downloaded all of the GT songs, and me and my younger sister would listen to them often.
Good times...

Re: What was the first piece of content you saw of GT?
I hardly remember the details because I was too little, but my first exposure to GT was the original broadcast of episode 1 in Japan. I was pretty excited to the new series, but soon realized it sucked even with my seven year old brain. I clearly remember talking with my friend about how the SSJ4 form looks bad by referring to it as "Kabuki-shit" or something like that. My friend seemed to be offended and argued hard against my opinion, though. I was getting tired of the show around the Super 17 arc, and I don't remember watching the Shadow Dragon arc. Probably I gave it up.

The first episode. After Z ended on TV, GT was aired right after and I was surprised a lot that it is a new series and I didn't knew about it, as everywhere was Z.

This VHS.
I believe these were the episodes where they are fighting Great Ape Baby and Goku goes SSJ4 the first time.

Re: What was the first piece of content you saw of GT?
Well, in my case I think I saw the Gogeta SSJ 4 footage between 2000 and 2002. I forgot about a VHS tape that I rented which included 3 episodes of the Super 17 Saga, which is basically Goku's Journey in Hell vs Freeza and Cell, which had me upset cause back then there were rumors of them fusing together. Also, I think I may have seen some footage of the Don Kia arc in VHS or maybe the Planet of the Giants on VHS as well. All those tapes were dubbed in Spanish from Spain, which is, awful. There were of course no Latinamerican dubs at the time. I just recalled seeing Bebi's birth for the first time on VHS which I saw was a very dark and creepy moment when he opened his eyes.VegettoEX wrote:Fairly certain for me it was my raw tape of 59, 61-64 (which I ordered alongside DBZ Movies 12/13 and Bardock/Trunks). Woulda been sometime mid/later in 1998.
Yes, I saw the end of the series (raw) before I saw anything else.
I had of course been reading about it online for a little bit courtesy of Curtis Hoffman's summaries and the rest of the fan coverage. It was still only just freshly off-the-air at the time, so in a strange way it was MORE prevalent online back then.
I totally forgot about Final Bout which is my favorite DB fighting game (Well, at least it was back in the late 90's) only second to Xenoverse. So, yeah, First time interacting with SSJ 4 Goku and seeing Super Bebi for the first time. I remember the infamous cheat codes from Gamefaqs and also the insane fake ones of beating the game 20 times to get Gotenks and Gogeta SSJ 4.InfernalVegito wrote:Final Bout I guess, but without consciously knowing it was GT or what it was altogether, since I first played it around the time the first series started airing here for the first time. I knew it had to do with Dragon Ball since Goku's kid self is in the game even though he looked a little different than in the show and obviously because the game is titled Dragon Ball which is hard to miss.
But if you mean being cognizant of what GT is, namely the sequel to the former series, then I guess around the airing of Z via downloaded clips from Kazaa or Limewire in 2001/2002. I distinctly remember a clip from the SSJ4 Goku vs. Baby fight where they are both in air and a clip showing Gogeta being formed. I think it was the recap of episode 61 with the Prologue playing.

The first episode on Toonami after DBZ had ended.

Re: What was the first piece of content you saw of GT?
On Youtube back when it was a new thing, I saw Goku and Golden Age Baby running next to each and firing blasts inside of a canyon then Baby biting the dust. I still remember how awesome I thought (and still do) design wise they looked.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

Some fansub copys of the last few episodes. I was startled to see Krillin as a greying old man at Roshi's, and was really confused as to why Goku was a kid again.

I had the same experience, this is the video in question https://youtu.be/LwzvcaylNisDaisetsu wrote:I don't remember the song at all, but I'm pretty sure I was introduced through a music video my brother downloaded way back in 2001 or something (back when Kazaa lite was big). Looking back on it now, I think that video just set me up for disappointment for actually watching GT later on.
Re: What was the first piece of content you saw of GT?
The first three episodes, before it came stateside. It's the only piece of bootlegged Dragon Ball material I've ever owned.
Instantly loved it.

Re: What was the first piece of content you saw of GT?
Oh man, this takes me back. Gotta be around 2001 or 2002, I saw an adult Trunks action figure, Super Battle Collection I believe. I distinctly remember it being $11 or so, compared to the Target across the street selling the Irwin figs for about 6 bucks. Then after some googling, finding out about Golden Oozaru, Super Saiyan 4, etc. Love it. Some next level shit, back in the day. Before the Buu Saga was even out over here.
Re: What was the first piece of content you saw of GT?
First footage was Goku vs ledgic in raw on a tv channel from Monaco. I loved it and it really gave me the wrong impression. Next was GT ep 1 on fansubs VHS in 1996successoroffate wrote:Back in my country (Venezuela) once DBZ ended, there was a 4 year Hiatus (Maybe more) before we actually got GT. The only pieces of content we had back then were small teaser trailers showing off Kid Goku in space, some posters of SSJ 4 Goku (The same poster used in Cristina Aguilera's video) which a cousin of mine had. To me the piece of content that stand out the most (even today) was the Birth of Gogeta SSJ 4, Which was like a 10 second video I downloaded online way before GT aired. The footage was the recap of the previous episode. The footage blew my mind away, I couldn't stop seeing it again and again. I even memorized the dialogue. The prologue music also fits the scene perfectly (Instrumental Dan Dan kokoro Hikareteku).
What about you? What was the first piece of footage/content you got/saw of GT before it aired?

If my memory is right, Ozaru Baby vs SS4 Goku was the first thing I saw of GT.
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

Re: What was the first piece of content you saw of GT?
Back when I was a wee lad, I remembering digging around the closet and finding a VHS tape of one of the last few episodes of GT. I perhaps watched it 4 or 5 times back then before putting it in obscurity.
IIRC, it was probably from SSJ4 Goku fighting Super Yi Xing Long, up until the end of Gogeta. I was obviously hyped, given this was subjectively the most badass part of GT.
