Veggeta saga?

Post by tainted saiyan » Sat Feb 10, 2007 1:37 am

Wow, I was watching Inuyasha on YTV and saw the DBZ season 1 commercial. They actually mispronounce Vegeta as Vague-etta. They also print it that way, as well.

Do you have to have a video for everything? :?

Anyways, this reminds me of the time when I first watched DBZ. I thought Vegeta's name was pronounced Va-gee-na. Seriously.

Man, does that bring back some awkward memories for me. My sister and/or friend had her own little inside joke with Vejita's name that... well, I think you can guess.

Hoh boy.

Well, I can top that. When I first saw the dub episodes of the Other World tournament, I kept misinterpreting "Pik-kon" as Python. Mainly in the episode where he and Goku battle Cell and Freeza in the underworld, I honestly thought I heard Grand Kaio say "Listen Python, can you go to HFIL" and Goku go "Python, catch!". Of course there's also thinking Kaio says "You fast fucking half-pint!"

Oh, wow. That last one makes me lawl. xDDDD

I guess we Westerners aren't that good at listening very closely. Otherwise we might not have these problems. I suppose it's valuable for the amusement, though. o.o

I naively used to spell and pronounce it "Kakorot" for the longest time when I first got into the series because that's how Mr. Sabat would pronounce it back during Season 3. >_O

Thankfully I've long since learned otherwise.

Er.. no.

Anyways, how recent was this 'tainted saiyan'? From what I remember YTV doesn't even air Dragonball Z anymore.

YTV does not air DBZ anymore, which also perplexes me... Just a DBZ commercial :?

Ah, I see. I thought you were referring to a new commercial for Dragonball Z being aired on YTV once more or something of the sort.

You also mispronounced their mispronunciation "Veggeta"
Heh heh, I find that funny.

Well, wasn't a commercial by HMV, or whatever kind of store would sell that?
I already mentioned this in a different topic, it's not like Funimation made the commercial themselves, so it's okay

Ocean dub Pikon is pronounced 'pee-kon'. Also, a commercial for the Freeza episodes in the UK refered to 'Sigh-yans', i.e they pronounced Saiyan correctly.

On a related note, has anyone ever called the show 'Dragon Ball Zed'? It would seem to be closer to the Japanese 'Zetto'.

Dragon Ball Zed? No, I just pronounce as the English version like one pronounces the letter "Z".

Funnily enough, I always pronounce the letter as "zed", but for DBZ, I've always said "zee". I can't ever see myself doing that.
Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"
B-kun: "What?"
Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

Z is pronounced 'Zed' in the UK and pretty much everywhere else apart from the US. personally, I call it 'Zee', just because that's how the US dub refered to it. If I'd been introduced to the show through the JP version, I would likely have used 'Zed'.
