Knowing that this idea originally came from the editorial department restored a bit of my faith in Toriyama.

Oh, sure, this might be a ridiculously fanservice-y, poorly written arc, but at least I can say "Well, this arc came from the editorial department. It's probably just trying to be a toy commercial and nothing else. What was I expecting?"

At least Toriyama's input will make it entertaining. Hopefully.

Dragon Ball is making bank right now and Toriyama is happily contributing, they have no reason to end the series any time soon.

I don't think it'll end soon but when they decide to, I think the big tournament will be it's last arc which could be a year or 5 years from now.

We dont know what exactly was suggested to Toriyama, it could have just been "Bring back Trunks".
I feel like people should try to avoid jumping to conclusions since we know next to nothing.

Super as a whole has been more of a toy commercial than anything else.

I just hope they're going to actually use him in a way that justifies his return and not like Freeza where he was just brought back to sell merchandise.

I can see that happening but where do they go after taking out a threat like that ?

Dragonball Super is now turning into Fanfiction. This arc is going to be set in different places and timelines so a lot of characters will be needed which means other characters should play bigger roles and especially since it was originally the editorials idea. Just make sure there is no crap in this arc Toriyama. There will be a more complicated story will is also good.
My prediction is that when everyone was supposed to of died in Trunks' timeline they actually didn't and went to some other dimension and are now evil.

My Predictions:
Black Goku returns and kills Gohan immediately as that is Gohan's role now.
Universe 6 characters return.
The group get seperated and spread across the universe 6 and 7 to solve the problem.
Black Goku is not the only one there is also Black Vegeta, Piccolo and Gohan.

Also Goku as a villain? it's not enough that he hogs the spotlight as a hero, now he's got to be a major villain too?

I'd prefer Broly over this, and i say that as a Broly hater.

And shouldn't Trunks be only SSJ2 level? Unless he got SSJ3 which even then is pointless since Goku and Vegeta can beat guys that strong with one arm tied behind their back.

Very disappointed to hear that Trunks is returning. For God's sake ... some characters needs be left alone once their respective arcs have concluded.. (look how Frieza's return in ROF was handled, it was awful). 'Black Goku'? What ?

Agreed. Glad i am not the only one disappointed with the lack of originality in Super.

I do not see how time travel across different universes is lacking in originality, for all I know, not even american superheroes do that, It's either time travel, or multiversal travel not the two of them. If anything this could be the most ambitious story Toriyama has ever done, I'm just gonna wait until the actual arc starts, Toriyama's writing has been really good in the U6 Tournament arc, even when he wanted it to be "bright and simple" it was real good, and since he is now avoiding that wording I'm gonna support what he aims to do.

I thin this is the main reason I still prefer GT, it never wrote itself into a corner. Of course the downside to this was that it made characters look weaker than they should have been.

This is what I'm afraid of, I'm afraid that he's going to undo Trunks' past and bring everyone back so that his story won't be the serious tragedy that it's known for.

In fact, only reason they had the stupid, lame, terrible idea of turning Goku back into a child (and make Vegeta and everyone else weaker) was because they couldn't bother thinking of bigger and credible threats. In what world is that good writing? I'd rather see it writing itself into a corner eventually, if that's the alternative.

Keep in mind this is a Toei idea so chances are they're going to want Goku to be the hero.

You have good ideas but it seems like they're afraid of doing something like that, Look how they handled Freeza, even though Vegeta saved Goku and beat him they still couldn't let him have a full victory in fear of it taking away from Goku.

Trunks looks damaged and in the interview or whatever when toriyama say's that he barely escapes the future alive. I feel like that scarf is Bulma's Trust me I'm almost 100% sure about this, shit is going to down.. but everybody is jumping the gun on this fan fiction shit when they don't know what the plot really is....
