I take it all back, the cropping
isn't the worst part of this release...damn near everything else is.
Most of this has been said so I'll keep it short but,
1) Remastering = complete failure, and
2) Everything's looks blurred and bleached out. Check out Kaio's face when he appears in the last clip, it's practically white!
And finally, the audio mixing = failure x 10.
Even the mono Japanese track fluctuates the music/SFX volumes for dramatic effect. In this new mix it's barely audible; it sounds more like someone is playing the BGM in the room next door, while the characters are screaming in your ear.
If you have this set (or the R2's), check out the speech at the end of episode 35 in Japanese. Once Goku and Krillin have finished talking, the music level increases several notches and the shaking of the katana becomes the most prominent sound. Even in a mono track the audio is mixed nicely for dramatic effect. This new dub 5.1 mix is flat and washed-out sounding throughout. Rubbish.
(PS- Ethically, I still find the cropping to be the worst.

)
EDIT:
Oh yeah, to all those people who've been popping up on this forum recently, proclaiming that this is the best looking DBZ ever...umm, I think you need to stop watching all those TV-ripped Naruto fansubs or something. Even FUNi's old 3-episode DVDs weren't this fudged-up.
