I'm really excited about Trunks' return, but I can't say the same about this new "Goku Black", if it is simply an evil version of Goku. It sounds too cliché, as we have seen this before in many different movies, series and animes. However, I liked some of the theories thrown here, such as Timebreaker Bardock, since I enjoyed DBXV, DBO and Heroes' plots.

Maybe I posted my thoughts on this new arc but I'll post them again - I'm quite excited for it. It shows that Super is ready to be serious. Nothing can be more serious than BLACK GOKU, right? Just like how the most serious genre of metal is BLACK METAL because of how SERIOUS they are... SO SERIOUS THEY KILL PEOPLE AND BURN CHURCHES.... SUPER SERIOUS.

So BLACK GOKU, I predict, is going to be tr00, grim, kvlt... heh, Goku in Corpsepaint walking in a grim forest underneath a Transylvanian full moon.

Although seriously, I think there is probably another villain at play. Why is Goku back in Future Trunks' timeline? Did they find New Namek and wish him back, then later on restoring the Z fighters? Then did he get infected or possessed? How powerful is this Black Goku? Might this involve Towa, Mira or Demigra? That could be one explanation for Black Goku - they used their dark magic on him and thus he has a black aura.

I'm already intrigued - sure, it kind of treads some familiar ground (Future Trunks), but also something totally new and weird. Then again, if Towa and company are involved, that's not really new. It will be new for the TV series, and new in that it involves the Omni-king, however.

Maybe he beats Champa and wishes for a SSG to appear (would make sense of why they say SDB's are more powerful since regular DB's couldn't do that wish.) Maybe that creates the Dark Goku.

Also, my most anticipated scene is Future Trunks telling current Beerus/Whis that Dark Goku killed the future versions of them. They're reactions would be priceless.

Decided to post my thoughts.

I have mixed feelings to this news. On one hand I am not completely happy to have Future Trunks back since his story felt complete at the end of the Cell Saga and I feel there is no reason for him for him to back other than fan service. At the same time, I am so happy that they are no using Time Patrol Trunks because I don’t want any time crossover from DBO or Xenoverse.

As for Goku Black, I am kinda lukewarm on the idea. Almost every villain from Demon King Piccolo onwards have been an evil counterpart to Goku, which you can see for yourself if you to Tvtropes. So the idea of having an Evil Goku feels recycle. If Evil Goku is a thing and, I know I am in the minority, I hope it is our Goku somehow. I find that to be more interesting than having Evil Goku and our Goku being two different characters interacting with one another. I will also rage if Evil Goku really turns out to be Bardock. I like Bardock, but he's dead and was a lower class warrior. There is no special reason why he should be spared and become ultra powerful out of all the Saiyans, especially since Toriyama's version of the character could never advance to a mid-class.

At this, I am taking a wait and see approach and I would be lying if I didn’t say that I am excited to see how Toriyama is going pull this off.

Future Gohan is long dead and Goten doesn't exist in Trunks' time since Goku died before he could be born.

Namek dragon can't bring someone back who died of natural causes as far as guru was concerned. I don't know about the new guardian

I'm on the same boat with you on bardock but even if he was classified as a low class saiyan he was still stronger than most elite, plus we only saw the end of his life. I dont know if the episode of bardock is cannon but if you include that as well him going super saiyan makes him way past a low class saiyan. But I get what you mean by him just jumping up to a broly sized level fighter shouldn't happen. I just want to clarify that bardock is stronger than your average low level.

I want to point out that "Goku" and "black" are not separated in the name. Sometimes, there is usually a dot to separate the names, like Jackie Chun = ジャッキー・チュン. But Goku Black is not "ゴクウ・ブラック", it's simply all together in "ゴクウブラック", much like Vegeta-Baby (ベジータベビー), so I'll assume that there will be a character named "Black" who absorbs or possesses the Goku from Trunks' timeline.

Unless someone who actually speaks Japanese tells me this is nonsense.

That's an even worse possibility than I thought I'd be... To possess Goku? Did Mr. Toriyama read Dragon Ball EX: Apocalypto?

Possession would be in the whole "Majin Gokû" realm....

I'd still rather it be a genuinely warped-by-some-awful-experience Gokû than anything else atm. The fact that he's "Gokû" and not "Kakarrotto" makes me think there's a limit on what his backstory is.

I'm still thinking that this goku black has something to do with the super dragonballs.
They were spread across universe 6/7 and universe 6 earth was revived so maybe it has enough power to change things in alternative timeliness aswell? Maybe the wish impacted on future trunks' timeline and the Z fighters there were wished back to life and it causes a negative impact or, the goku black was from universe 6 earth in the alternative timeline. I just think that their will be a drawback from using the wish
