Ok...DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Toriyama said that he will save the white color for later.Beerus-sama wrote:I don't get why some people think the SSJ white would be a thing...
If a villian is going to have white hair/probably will transform in this (Most probably Goku white Black) and Toriyama said he didn't make SSJBlue SSJ White because of this then he will probably never use it as an actual color for SSJ.
maybe its just Goku Black having white hair then and not transforming into something like SSJ that happens to have white hair.

Sleeping until the tournament is over.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Why wouldn't he just mention Freeza's name directly though? The interview was fairly recent, there was no need to play coy about it. Besides, white Freeza and SSJB barely spend any screentime together and Toriyama was writing the script itself, so he knew that would be the case.alakazam^ wrote:If Blue was introduced in the movie, then that's the enemy that matters, not the Universe 6 tournament fighters (of which none were white except Freez... Frost) or the newly Goku Black. None of these two arcs were in Toriyama's mind when he wrote Fukkatsu no F and even if they were, he had no reason to change a transformation just for plotlines down the road.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:We can't know for sure. Was Toriyama talking about the next enemy that would come when the new form was to be introduced, meaning Freeza, or was he talking about the next enemy after Freeza, who turns out to be Goku Black? I think he is talking about Goku Black, because a white Goku does color-clashes more than the white Freeza he never fought with his new form, and why not just say Freeza by name instead of saying "next enemy" inside the ""?
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Why would black clash with white? If anything, they complement each other rather nicely.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:If he was planning having a "black" villain, it would color clash with the "white" hero. If he had though of any enemy besides Freeza why wouldn't he make a movie about him? He didn't even know what story to make before "F" popped up in his mind. Sure, Blue might not have fought final form Freeza but that was the form Freeza had since the fight began. Freeza transforming to Golden and Goku turning White would be the clash since the white color would have been non-stop.
I took "the next enemy" as a mental quote from when he was writing the script, which would be Freeza's status. I know this is what people cling on to not think of Freeza but I can turn this around and say that if it was the next arc's enemy it wouldn't need the "" as well.
Blue debuted in Fukkatsu no F. No one knew the story would continue. The next arc was a tournament without white people besides the Freeza counterpart. So, there was no reason not to debut White in F when he could always change the color afterwards. This, if we think he thought two arcs ahead before knowing a TV series would be made, which we know it's not something he does.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I figured he meant that Super Saiyan White would make it confusing because the villain would have white spiky hair or a shade of gray that's too similar.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
So it really was the return of Future Trunks. Well Toriyama's interview with Toyotaro couldn't have been more obvious, without mentioning the name, so it is as expected.
But Goku Black? Damn! So many theories about this will pop up until we get the explanation later on.
Right now I'm thinking different things. The copy race in regards to the next episodes with Copy Vegeta was mentioned, so maybe it has something to do with that. On the other hand Goku is dead in Trunks' timeline, so how would the copy guys come in contact with Goku? It would need to have happened, when Goku was on his way home from Planet Yardrat, which can lead to other theories like maybe his heart virus was actually some evil plot to kill him and then somehow take control of his body and or soul? Of course given that they found a cure for it in Trunks' timeline, it always seemed like it was a virus that was a bit more common, than just only ever affecting one person.
I am also thinking that Goku might have got corrupted in the afterlife or something, like Janemba, allowing him to manipulate the afterlife and living world, as he sees fit.
Or he could be controlled by Towa and Mira, like Bardock. Trunks' alternate new design those have a similar sweater to his Time Patrol Trunks outfit.

We can't know when he decided to make a new form, and when he decided to make it blue. He didn't write the whole FnF right after he heard the song.alakazam^ wrote:It was stated.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:How do you know?alakazam^ wrote:He didn't even know what story to make before "F" popped up in his mind.

C'mon, you're just grasping at straws here. He didn't have any plot though about and when he did it was about Freeza. Blue debuted in Freeza's movie. The quote was about Freeza. No, it isn't obvious. We have no idea what Toriyama & Toei had planned, if they had anything planned. We know that at some point, they decided to make a new series. Was that before, during, or after the production of the movie? We don't know. Did Toriyama have a few ideas in his head for the next story arcs of the new series? We don't know. Toriyama doesn't usually plan ahead, but he isn't writing his own manga this time, he is writing Toei's anime, so he doesn't have the privilege to come up with the new villain one chapter before his debut.alakazam^ wrote:C'mon, you're just grasping at straws here. You are making assumptions based on what you believe is more likely. That doesn't make it a fact.

To anyone who thinks Super won't last long :
"Dragon Ball came in as the company’s (Bandai) second-best-performing franchise for the year, pulling in ¥34.9 billion, a significant jump over last year’s ¥19.4 billion. The company is projecting the same ¥34.9 billion for fiscal year 2017 (with a stronger second half of the year). Outdone only by Gundam this year, the Dragon Ball franchise managed to eclipse One Piece for the first time since fiscal year 2010"

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I'm always impressed when we surpass One Piece in something. I don't know if we'll be able to pull it off next time, since One Piece has a movie in May or June, but still very cool.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
We were ahead of One Piece in 2010? What was going on in Dragon Ball then?
I guess One Piece is a volume selling juggernaut but lacks in the other aspects. The lackluster Dressrosa arc must have contributed also.

The big numbers are the main thing, it surpassing one piece is just icing on cake.Chuquita wrote:I'm always impressed when we surpass One Piece in something. I don't know if we'll be able to pull it off next time, since One Piece has a movie in May or June, but still very cool.
And we don't know if One Piece will be the only one getting a movie cause DB's last 2 were announced in July so a 3rd could be announced this July for an early 2017 release like RF.

It's possible, hard to wrap my head around that. A mostly dormant franchise (can't remember what was going on at the time), against another which had a running manga and anime. That's an uphill battle. Either I'm overestimating One Piece or underestimating Dragon Ball.VegettoEX wrote:Less a question of what was going on for us and what was NOT going on for them, methinks.LightBing wrote:We were ahead of One Piece in 2010?
