Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

So I know that Wales is the one the left, but what is the other country, which has a flag with a dragon in it?

Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

Good thing Gohan doesn't look like a nerd currently, and looks better than his Future counterpart imo.Neo-Makaiōshin wrote:Spoiler:

Amusing, but I'd also cite that as the most extreme example of waaaaaaayyyyyy overthinking things from the 'power scale' angle I've ever seen, yowza.

Oh hey it's that guy. I remember him from his other stuff. Been a while. I love that ending dialogue. Writing an apology to GTcoola wrote:Spoiler:

Extreme? Nope. Just thinking a little about it makes you reach the same conclusions/problems that were pointed out. You literally have to not think at all about it to not notice it.Gyt Kaliba wrote:Amusing, but I'd also cite that as the most extreme example of waaaaaaayyyyyy overthinking things from the 'power scale' angle I've ever seen, yowza.

I did something similar (link is in the signature). I don't consider it overthinking things since the only ways to not notice these is if you're unfamiliar with the manga or, like Rereboy said, not paying attention. With any sequel, you're going to consider how it fits in and if it's consistent with major plot points presented in the original. The only way I can't think about it is if I consider it filler or another non-canon Toei movie so that it wouldn't matter how it affects the manga since it wouldn't be in the same continuity.Gyt Kaliba wrote:Amusing, but I'd also cite that as the most extreme example of waaaaaaayyyyyy overthinking things from the 'power scale' angle I've ever seen, yowza.

I also think it's pretty fair in its criticisms, except for saying that Freeza/SSB would have to be stronger than Beerus.
But more than that, the idea of Kaioshin just getting distracted and wondering all of this aloud is just golden.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!
