Let's pray they don't, but considering a bunch of people have bought the entire series save for 13 episodes...it'd make sense for them to fuck said people with a new release without finishing the old one :P

Why wait for a remaster (that will most likely be in widescreen, have bad remastering, and replace Makafushigi Adventure), when you can get these!

Dragonball Complete Collection Part 1
Dragonball Complete Collection Part 2

And here's a thread with some cool pics on what the boxes look like, and info and such, and links to a cheap region free dvd player.

Those Dragonball sets would actually match well sitting next to the new Dragonball Z season sets.

Recently finished purchasing all of the individual Dragonball dvd releases, except for the first one of course, due to the whole licensing problem. Boo!

Any idea when Lion's Gate's contract (or whatever it is they're using to claim these episodes) expires? Wasn't the old dub from like, the 80s or something? o__o;
Art, etc. links taken down for now. Will be updated at some point. I dunno.

The one from the late late 80s, or the early 90s would be the first of the english language Dragonball dubs. By the way Goku was named Zero, ( I think ) in this old dub XD. The whole licensing problem deals with the dub from 95' ish.

No idea if it had expired yet or whatnot. From what I remember you can purchase the first 13 episodes dubbed by the current FUNi cast in Australia.

'Tis all ye need.

Emperor Pilaf Saga, 2000's FUNi Dub, Uncut except for the first movie, which is still the 1995 dub for some reason O_o - $35.23 AUD = $27.36 USD (including shipping)
Region Free DVD Player - $30

But the first box set comes to $109.36 AUD = $84.92 USD, and that's for six of those sets plus a badass box to put 'em in. Much better deal, imo... but I guess the first Saga is all you need lol.

Hope I'm umm... helping :?

WOW what a coincidence! I just so happen to have that EXACT DVD player. I didn't even know it was region free.

That's what I said too lmao. I had the same DVD player sitting in my closet, collecting dust

It kinda gave me an excuse to seek the Australian Dragonball sets.

As hard as it is to believe there will probably be people who will like it (god forbid) so in the company's never ending bid for money? The answer is most likely yes.

Wait, it has the FUNi dub of all the episodes, but is there an option to watch the original Japanese version with subtitles?

And what was the problem with episode 73?

It's the Funi dub and JP audio for all the episodes. On the first disc of the 'Baba' set, episodes 68-72 & 74-75 have JP subtitles only. Episode 73 has dubtitles only. So if you watch the JP version, you'll have to put up with dubtitles for one episode.

^oh sweet...by the way, just checking: when you say JP subtitles, you don't mean the subtitles are literally in Japanese, right?

And are dubtitles subtitles, but using the dialogue from the dub right? Since this is apparently "bad" does that mean the dub isn't very close to the original's dialogue?

The subtitles aren't literally in Japanese, they're English text subs translating what's being spoken in the Japanese version. What you should expect Japanese subtitles from would be the Toei R2 releases, which never bothered. Just so you know, this whole "glitch" with episode 73 apparently only happens with the Madman releases, not with FUNi's to the best of my knowledge.

Personally I'd like it if they did. Whatever gets those first episodes out there, in any case.

I got the Fortune Teller Baba set not too long ago, and the subtitles looked to be the right translations, not the dubtitles. It still has all of the "Son-kun's" and "Muten Roshi" etc, etc...

BTW, off-topic, but I have only 4 more DB DVD sets to go before I have the whole series: Tournament, Red Ribbon Army, General Blue, and the Saga of Goku R4 set.

Aww, duuude. Now I have no excuse to refrain from getting the FUNi dub. Awesome. :D Now must... scrape together... enough money! Dx

Though, I'd like to know one thing: different region DVDs can all play on a computer DVD player, can't they? 'Cos at the moment, that's all I've got, and even if I get the region-free player, I don't have a TV to hook it up with... D:

I dont want them to do the whole "widescreen" thing to the series, but I would really like it if they put out nice cheap season sets.

Good luck finding a good deal on the Red Ribbon Army set. It's the only set I need to complete the series and I can't find a deal like I did with the others. All of them were purchased for $20 or less. The RRA set at Zstore.com is still like $40...so I bought 39 episodes of DBZ instead.
