VizBigs VS Tankobon (ENG) releases

Post by AS_Saiyan » Sun May 22, 2016 3:40 am

*On this thread I'm talking specifically on the English releases, not the Japanese ones.

As of now I own two of the VizBigs voulumes, and before I went and completed the series in this version, I got some doubts and I thought about maybe getting the Tankobon version.
The VizBigs are great, but they're not perfect. The large and quality pages are very good thing, plus it includes the colored chapters. But it fails in being to heavy for holding for a long period of time. The covers and spine art are also a downfall, I don't think I even need to explain why.
Now to the Tankobon, The covers look amazing in my opinion, the spine art looks good as well, but I want to know whether it's better at the other criterias as well (easy for reading/pages aren't too small/etc..)

Are the Tankobon releases better than the VizBig ones? Should I get them instead? Or is the version I have now is the prefered version to own?

And yeah, I need to find better signature.

I personally prefer the single volumes to the VizBigs. The VizBigs aren't bad by any means, but I think the singles hold up a little better over multiple readings. The paper quality of the singles isn't quite as good, but they are more than serviceable. Plus the singles are less censored, if that's something that matters to you! The VizBigs are definitely cheaper though.

This is something that only you can answer for yourself.

- Vizbigs have better paper.
- Vizbigs have some of the color pages in color.
- Vizbigs are cheaper.
- Vizbigs are bigger and heavier (it means bigger art).
- Some Vizbigs might have more problems with the binding than the Tankobon.
- Vizbigs have a little more censorship than some versions of the Tankobon (there were various versions of the Tankobon over the years with varying censorship).

Only you can look at this and any other existing detail and come to a conclusion that suits you, because different people will have different preferences over these aspects.
