It depends on the plot, if there isn't enough material then there's no reason to stretch it out.
The BOG arc was only 14 episodes long but due to how short the story was they had to stretch everything out, resulting in a very slow arc.
Basaku wrote:Kai-fied version of DBZ arcs puts them on around 50-eps average lenght.
The Buu arc was the only one to go over 50 with 69 or 67 (if you don't count the 2 filler episodes they left in) episodes, the other 3 were 18, 36 & 44.
It's also important to note manga original pacing and anime original pacing are two different beasts. Knowing the outline in advance changes things as opposed to minding whether they surpass the manga or not.

I don't think Toriyama is going to do this forever so it'll more than likely end when he's done but Toei will probably start a new show after it like they did with GT after Z ended.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
It's unreal to know that we'll be seeing at least 72 episodes and likely MUCH more.
This makes me so happy as a hardcore Dragon Ball fan. Sure, some episodes in the future may be blah, but some may be HOLYSHITTHATWASSOAWESOMEICANNOTWAITUNTILNEXTWEEK, as many have been recently. This includes Episodes 43 and 44.

You mean more episodes that focus on Vegeta like ep27 ? hopefully Goku will forget to set his alarm so Vegeta can take over the whole arc.
He didn't say anything about Vegeta though.. But honestly Vegeta>>>>>>Goku in super. Vegeta has really turned himself around and I think he's better than ever. Mean while goku and gohan are worse than ever..

Disclaimer: I might get into a disagreement with you. Sometimes I might even get feisty about it. I'll never harbor negative feelings because of it though. I hope you feel the same way!
I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Goku and Gohan were very badass characters in Z but in Super they've changed so much that they're barely recognizable.

Woops you're absolutely right My bad, It's 01:00 AM here, I'm a bit tired ^_^
Regarding Vegeta, I agree with Kinisking. I really have the feeling that for some reason, Toriyama understood that fans were not happy about how Vegeta turned to be kind of useless in Battle of Gods (except his epic "MY BULMAAAA). I'm glad that his role became better in Super.

Welp, I hope they don't debut that supposed SSJ White here. Otherwise white power may triumph over the evil black enemy.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Doctor. wrote:I've explained before, I'll just paraphrase myself.
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.

I don't think they'll introduce 3 new forms and still keep Goku & Vegeta below Beerus when they've been close to him since the 1st one, and Toriyama said he doesn't have any plans to make Goku & Vegeta stronger than Beerus yet. I think we won't get a new form in this arc, so Goku Black is the "next enemy" that Toriyama was talking about color-clashing with Super Saiyan White. So, if we had gotten Super Saiyan White back in FnF, we would get SS White Goku vs Goku Black...
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

It looks like black isn't used as evil but to describe whoever's appearance so hopefully whoever won't look like they fell in a can of paint like copy Vegeta.

I also think Toriyama's 'Super Saiyan White' comment may have been in jest. I don't think they would reveal an upcoming new form in the informal, jocular manner I at least got from that part of the interview - he was basically playing coy about how the new form is characterized by it's difference in color, bringing up what color they almost went with instead of blue, and laughing and saying 'I guess there's always next time!'. I'm not sure I understand why so many people are assuming it's really a thing that's definitely gonna happen, unless I missed something.

How did you come to the conclusion that it is describing appearance and not that they are an evil character?

Cannot agree more with those quotes, I don't give a damn if Super will surpass GT, I care about if this series will continue to stay decent.
Are we too old to enjoy new Dragon Ball movies/series?

Guys, I'm going to be straight with you. If you feel the show has gotten 'silly' ... it hasn't. You're just 'too old for this shit'. Seriously, 95% of the people in those boards do not fit the target demographic of the show, so don't expect the show to be 'everything you hoped for'. I'm referring to the people here who expect Super to be rich with dark moments, serious storytelling, meaningful characters etc etc. It won't. It's a show for kids. A show for kids being kids. Everyone in those boards has a manchild in him/her, clamoring to get out, and that's fine. But having unrealistic expectations (such as believing the show grew up alongside you) is naïve at best. Honestly, do you take seriously a story where the supposed God of Destruction halts his urges to blow up stuff in order to eat ice cream sundae? That's the show's silliness at full force, take it for what it is. The show hasn't matured one bit, so don't expect it too. Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm saying *that* is DB and always will be.

Maybe it's like the Red Ribbon Army where the organization itself has a name that starts with "Black"? I don't know.
The next arc starting at 47 though means this Copy-Vegeta mini-arc will probably be done by the end of 45 and they'll have another oneshot episode for 46? I can't imagine this filler arc leading directly into the Future Trunks arc.
