You think they even know what's going on 1/2 the time ?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

I often get a chuckle when I see guys like Krillin, Yamcha, Chiaotzu, and Tien watching Goku's battles in Super against guys like Beerus.

You have to wonder whether they are actually able to follow the fight or if they are just pretending to so no one catches on to how much of a power gap there is between them and Goku now.

It's easy to fake. Just look 45° up and say stuff like "incredible..." or "Gokuu...!" every once in a while.

It could go either way honestly. Don't forget that amidst statements of people 'moving too fast to see', we have clear indications of...well, people being able to see things later on. Just off the top of my head, Kuririn and Jackie Chun were already moving too fast for the non-fighting public at the tournament stage to see, and yet right after that, they didn't seem to have any problem seeing Goku and the old man face off. They didn't seem to have a problem with the later, much more intense tournament fights either. So if normal people can pull it off, it's not outside the realm of reason that our super-powered heroes could do the same, even if they're insanely outclassed in comparison.

I could definitely see it being something they had to get the knack of first though, like Gohan did with the Saibamen (though there he was flat out learning to follow ki period). At first they might be having a hard time following along, but the longer the fight goes on, they might eventually be able to get the jist of it. There's also the possibility that while they're not as strong as the people fighting, they could be up to par in perceptiveness. The two have never been completely on an even scale with each other, you've got stuff like Freeza on Namek being as strong as he was, but completely unable to sense ki, or Kuririn being able to sense how strong Cell really was after being kicked by him, and somehow even picking up that Trunks was hiding a lot of power too. Or even more recently, there's Jaco, a guy who it's really hard to figure out how strong he actually is, but definitely isn't near Goku/Vegeta/the people they're facing off against nowadays, and he can still follow along and catch things that others might not. Perceptiveness does not seem to be tied entirely to their level of fighting power.

Against people like Beerus specifically though? What with the whole 'god ki being too hard to sense' thing, they might have had an even harder time following along than normal though, especially at first. Through spending time around Beerus more now though, not to mention time around Goku who kinda/sorta/maybe has God ki now, or has had it, or...whatever the heck is going on on that front, they may have finally gotten inclined enough to follow along with that stuff too.

Bulma was able to keep track of Super Saiyan Blue Goku fighting Golden Freeza, and she's a normal woman with no fighting experience whatsoever.

So I think Yamcha and the others know more than she does.

Yeah but then Gohan and Krillin couldn't which was why they were so surprised Jaco could we anything.

It's not consistent.
