Wasn't Super Buu drawing out the Gotenks fight anyway, as a precaution against Gohan's growing strength? I believe he says as much after Gohan kicks his ass.

He does, but he doesn't say when exactly he first sensed Gohan's power. He doesn't specify if it was before or after he had entered the Room, so we don't know if he was dragging the fight out in the Room because of Gohan or just because Gotenks wasn't a credible threat.Kamiccolo9 wrote:Wasn't Super Buu drawing out the Gotenks fight anyway, as a precaution against Gohan's growing strength? North Kaio says: "The Genki Dama is a technique that takes all of the Genki energy from grass and trees, from people and animals, and even things and atmosphere, and allocates a little bit from each of their energies, concentrates it, and shoots it."
Toriyama says: "In battle, the most important thing is the size of your ki, and your control over it. Ki as a concept of course includes such spiritual powers as energy [genki], courage [yūki], and right-mindedness [shōki]11. No matter how much you train, there are limits to physical strength, and the only way to overcome that is through ki. I think Goku was able to approach the mightiest warriors in the universe through strengthening his ki."

this the scene i was talking about:Darkprince410 wrote:I just looked through, and there's not one panel showing Buu actually trying to regenerate beforehand. He's just staying in that "crippled" state the entire time, with no indication or suggestion he's actually attempting to regenerate there. It'd be one thing if we saw panels during the course of his "crippled" state where he was pulling himself back together, but there's no actual indication of that.dragonballer wrote: even he didn't consider gotenks a threat there was no reason for him to delay his regeneration, since we see he was angry when he was finally back. about the drink gag scene,we saw a painel where super buu was trying to restore himself,if he wanted to recover, why he didn't do it at once? then when he was back to normal he saw how ridiculous gotenks was dealing with his ghosts and then decided to mock on him.
about goku's comments, although he didn't compared kid buu with others buus,he said that as if it was new information buu's stamina not going down.
Even if he wasn't likely faking it, that's not saying anything about his regenerative speed. That's just saying that he didn't start regenerating until later. The regenerative speed is the same, just the desire to regenerate isn't, which says nothing about the efficiency of the regeneration process itself.
As Turlast commented, all that Goku's comment about Buu's stamina was about was that he expected to be able to put a dent in it with his strength, not that it was something different than what he had seen in the other forms of Buu. He was hoping he could make some more headway with the approach he was taking to fight Buu, but his comment indicated he realized he couldn't. Again, nothing to do with Pure Buu's stamina or regeneration being more efficient than the others.
Spoiler:
it is true that buu's stamina never goes down after he regenerated, but it seems he becomes weaker when he is still hurted, otherwise punching him would be useless.

Re: Regarding the Pure Boo > Gohan and the Genki Argument.
For starters, your link didn't work properly, but I'm going off the entirety of what happened in the manga between Gotenks and Buu within the Room, so I've seen what part you're meaning. Given that we've seen regular Fat Buu and Mr. Buu, both of whom were far, far weaker than Evil Buu, regenerate faster than that, tells me that his not regenerating quickly had nothing to do with his strength or the potency of his regeneration.
Couple that with the fact that he chose to not bother attacking Gotenks when he did regenerate (instead sip on a drink while reading a magazine) and it's clear that he didn't perceive Gotenks as a credible threat at all, and that his lack of regenerating during the panels you're referring to wasn't due to an inability to, just a lack of desire for a quick response. He knew Gotenks had nothing he could throw at him that'd legitimately kill him, so he had no reason to instantly pop back to normal.
Spoiler:
Actually Vegeta indicates that it only goes down if it's Buu against Buu, meaning that any other time, there hasn't been any kind of actual stamina decrease.it is true that buu's stamina never goes down after he regenerated, but it seems he becomes weaker when he is still hurted, otherwise punching him would be useless.
Why would that need to be mentioned if he was taking actual damage during any other time he was hit?Vegeta: “…This is bad…Have you noticed, Kakarot?...The fatso’s power is falling…If it’s Boo against Boo, then he can take damage…”
Re: Regarding the Pure Boo > Gohan and the Genki Argument.
Just my two cents. One could argue that Boo's stamina hadn't fallen but there was an actual effect on his Ki when his body was damaged. Because, as we know, the physical health of your body influences how much Ki you can control and distribute across your body. If your body is heavily damage you won't be able to output 100% because your body would not be able to handle that amount. Much like how Goku damages his body trying to maintain his Kaioken. On the other side of the coin if your stamina falls then as you spend Ki it will become impossible to get back up to 100% So while Gotenks could damage Boo and get his Ki to drop because of the physical impairment that didn't matter because Boo's stamina was always full so he could get back to 100% after healing his wounds. But in the scenario where a Boo fights another Boo they do lose stamina and as such can't regain 100% effectively even though they can return their bodies to being perfectly healthy it would be something like this:Darkprince410 wrote:Why would that need to be mentioned if he was taking actual damage during any other time he was hit?Vegeta: “…This is bad…Have you noticed, Kakarot?...The fatso’s power is falling…If it’s Boo against Boo, then he can take damage…”
Super Boo(Before Gotenks injures him)
Physical Health: 1
Ki: 800
Stamina: 1
Super Boo(After Gotenks injures him)
Physical Health: 0.5
Ki: 800 * 0. 5 * 1 = 400
Stamina: 1
Super Boo(After healing)
Physical Health: 1
Ki: 800 * 1 * 1 = 800
Stamina: 1
Mr. Boo(Before Pure Boo injures him)
Physical Health: 1
Ki: 300
Stamina: 1
Mr. Boo(After Pure Boo injures him)
Physical Health: 0.5
Ki: 300 * 0. 5 * 0.75 = 112.5
Stamina: 0.75
Mr. Boo(After healing)
Physical Health: 1
Ki: 300 * 1 * 0.75 = 225
Stamina: 0.75

Re: Regarding the Pure Boo > Gohan and the Genki Argument.
Your entire direction is dependent on the notion that Goku was stronger than Kid Buu. Indeed, because Goku told Vegeta that they'd both lose to Super Buu and because Goku said he could destroy Kid Buu were he to reach full power, you conclude that Super Buu > SSJ3 Goku > Kid Buu. That alone is the full extent of the Super Buu > Kid Buu argument. Problem is that this line of reasoning depends on outright disregarding every statement/observation/feat made during and after Goku's skirmish with Kid Buu.LowRyder2005 wrote:The strongest foe, perhaps. Or maybe Goku/Gohan had no interest in fighting Gohan/Goku, to the strongest person willing to fight Goku would have been that Buu.There is also that quote in the Daizenshuu saying that's "Goku is always seeking out the strongest and he awaited Boo's reincarnation above all else".
I still can't help but find it slightly excessive to hang up on the literal meaning of every word from generic statements meant to portray generally applicable characters' traits to justify what happens in an entire saga that goes, at least on paper, in an entire other direction.'
As I expressed in the youtube comments that prompted to the creation of this thread, your reasoning is the equivalent to concluding that Cell Saga Vegeta is superior to Perfect Cell. Vegeta tells Goku he doesn't need to train. Vegeta states he could beat Cell prior to the fight. Vegeta is so confident in his strength that he lets Semi-Perfect Cell adsorb Android 18. Android 16 thinks Vegeta is stronger at the start. If you take these statements and observations into account and disregarding everything afterwards, then it's obvious that ASSJ Vegeta > Perfect Cell. Sure, we could consider what happens during and after the fight, but we can come up with all sorts of interpretations as to why Vegeta is still better. Vegeta lost because he was too cocky, Cell only looked better because his regenerative powers gave him an unfair advantage, Cell was more skilled, Vegeta unknowingly used up too much energy during his fight with Semi-Perfect Cell, etc etc.
It makes no difference what retroactive continuity suggest. The end of the manga can still be used as a means of interpreting events prior to Super. Thus, if there's anything in the end of the manga that suggest Kid Buu >every member of the Z senshi, it follows that the author believed Kid buu > every member of the Z senshi during the Buu arc.Plus, that statement is extremely weak as of today in trying to establish a notion such as "Buu is still the strongest at the EOZ". We know through retroactive continuity that EOZ Vegeta, for one, is miles and miles ahead of any form of Buu (unless he becomes weaker at the end of the series, I guess).
It's not a matter of "hanging onto every word", but a matter of interpreting the manga in a fashion that requires the fewest number of assumptions possible. Occum's razor if you will. I submit that the idea that Kid Buu > Super Buu requires no assumptions or acknowledgment of contradictions in the original manga. I submit that simple statements and events during and after the battle with Kid Buu confirm his supremacy amongst the Buus. You, on the other hand, appear to acknowledge that your conclusion requires that we disregard words in the manga in order to accept it.Other than that, even if you wanted, in fact, to hang on every word the Daizenshuu
Which is only relevant if you think that Goku is stronger than or equal to Kid Buu. If you take the actual words in the original manga into account, you note Goku flat out acknowledging his inferiority when he tells Vegeta that they'll all need to train hard to be ready next time. You also note Vegeta having the belief that if Kid Buu returns, it really will be the end of the world. Then there's the whole affair with the Genki Dama. Again, your argument hinges on Goku. Take Goku out of the picture and it crumblesfor the Daizenshuu themselves it is almost mandatory for Gotenks to surpass Goku after the ROSAT, since he surpasses Vegeta and "at least two other people", when the only ones stronger than him other than Vegeta could be Goku, Buu or Gohan training with the Z-Sword (since for the same Daizenshuu, Goten is equal or comparable in strenght to Gohan himself).

Re: Regarding the Pure Boo > Gohan and the Genki Argument.
for me,it is easier to explain why fat buu's regereration speed seems to be faster than super buu letting gotenks do whatever he wants with his pieces.Darkprince410 wrote:For starters, your link didn't work properly, but I'm going off the entirety of what happened in the manga between Gotenks and Buu within the Room, so I've seen what part you're meaning. since there wasn't continuous action in the scenes we don't the relative speed between the cases.
let's see kid buu vs mr.buu.
Spoiler:
for the stamina issue,it is what Hitro said, otherwise punching buu would be meanless.
