There were all posters and stuff advertising the Universe 6 arc. They even had it on a building. I was hoping there'd have been something similar for this upcoming arc by now, it's only 13 days away.

Now that you mention it, it has been really quiet on that end. What happened to the hype building with posters and banners? Is the big confrontation so far away that it's too early to hype anything up, or did they simply decide to not bother with it? I'm leaning toward the former, personally, but you'd think there'd be some Future Trunks posters around, if nothing else. This is, after all, a major arc.

I'm really leaning towards him being a parallel timeline's Gokû now that we're already doing the "artificially created" thing in this filler arc with Copy Vegeta.

Tv anime typically don't make that much fanfare for new arcs, unless it's coming back from a very long filler or something similar. The Champa arc was a special occasion because it was like the series was restarting, they needed to make it clear that new content was about to begin. Now they have the attention already.

AGE 896 would be an extra 100 years into the future. =P

Anyway, Herms translated it as: "17 years in the future, Trunks is faced with a fearsome new foe."

That leaves it a little more vague, but not much. It could be 17 years from Super's current era, or 17 years from the last time we saw Trunks in AGE 788. I'm going to go with the former though. We should be in AGE 780, which would put Trunks coming from AGE 797 and around ~33 years old with the RoSaT time added. While I like the idea of him having a period of peace, I was hoping he wouldn't be quite that old. It doesn't really matter, but I didn't really want him to be a ~decade older than Gohan again.

I wonder if half saiyans don't age as quick also? If goten and trunks are anything to go by, they can still have delayed growth spurts. I wouldn't be surprised if goten and trunks age like a saiyan, and gohan ages like a human.

Well, the artwork for Future Trunks does give his face an older look. Not all 30-somethings age horribly or else I'd be feeling in trouble right now at the exact same age!

SO cool. I would enjoy that happening at some point during this arc. The hair on Trunks' head follows regular human hair growth; hopefully his facial hair grows at the same human speed too.

I think haircuts falls too close into GT territory for Toei to risk it. I know Gohan, Bulma, and Yamcha change hairstyles all the time (or used to), but I think part of why Gokû never changed his (in addition to the 'it would just grow back into its usual shape') is I read somewhere that one of the keys to a good character design is being able to look at a silhouette of the character and instantly recognize it. The only reason I think Vegeta even got his Freddie Mercury haircut in GT ok'd was because he dropped from main character to minor character/supporting cast. Once Vegeta became a main character again near the end of GT, that was when his hair finally started to be drawn closer to his Z hairstyle. I also think this is why the beards in Super were a quick gag and nothing more. Transformations are one thing, but Shueisha can't risk losing how recognizable on sight Gokû and Vegeta are.


As for why their hair's shaped like that; I've always figured that's just how long/the direction it grows. All hair has a pre-programmed stop length (growth cycles) built into it.

That was said in Gintama, where they spoofed the better known anime sillhouetes, Goku included.

I think a beard wouldn't fit Trunks. Too much of a pretty boy haha. I think Vegeta pulls it off the best.

The lack of advertising is disappointing, but maybe Champa arc only got so much advertising, to warn people that Super was finally moving to new territory.
People now already know Super is covering new ground, so this arc probably won't get as much promotion.

We will still probably get a promo poster, at least.
