There's still a Goku in the afterlife that exists in Trunks' timeline. That could easily be Goku black. The potara makes me think this is the direction they're going.

If I had to take a guess and because different timelines were supposed to be involved. I'd say this is Goku from another timeline, an evil Goku who somehow got a hold of a Potara earring and is now travelling to different timelines, defeating other versions of Goku and then fusing with them, taking their power and getting stronger each time.

If anyone has ever seen the Jet Li movie The One. It'd be something like that.

It'd make sense why he still looks like Goku even after fusing and why he's in Trunks timeline (because he'd have gone there looking for that timelines Goku).

Edit: Even worse, the gang using the Dragon Balls and rendering them inactive may be a dark retcon as to why the original timeline couldn't help themselves before Piccolo died!

I was hoping for Time Breaker Bardock, but I'm surprisingly not disappointed. I hope but doubt the earrings are Demigra's, and I don't think Trunks' hair is Super Saiyan Blue God Super Saiyan, otherwise it'd be spiked up like his normal Super Saiyan hair.

And Mai? Interesting... I suspect this is the main timeline's Future Trunks, not the original one.

I could be down for that idea about this Gokû. I've never seen "The One", but I like this theory. It would explain why he's got potara on, yet still looks exactly like himself.

I also think the earrings are what's letting him travel across timelines.

That's actually sounds like a really cool idea. It's most likely won't happen though.

I really like his design and that sinister smile on his face.

I personally hope that this is Goku, or at least a version of him. I really don't want any cheap fakes. What I mean is, I wan that to be Goku's body and power, I dont mind if he's gone evil, mind controlled or possessed. I would still like it to be Goku in some sense not just someone who is in disguise.

Also I want him to be the main threat of the arc, wither he's the master mind or the big gun dosen't matter.
