Okay, I've got my caffeine, and I'm ready to enlighten you. Ready for this shit?
AVI is a container format, as already mentioned. Just as VOB's are the container format used on DVD-Video discs. They have nothing to do with quality, the actual compression does (MPEG-2 is used for DVD).
Now, what
you are more than likely talking about is MPEG-1, which is typically used for low bitrate/low resolution clips. Yes, of course this would not look as good as a
competantly encoded DivX (MPEG-4) file.
Make sense?

Heh I see what you did, by ajusting the contrast levels you've made the sky seem more blue than green... something for Funimation to take note of.

I'm going to be frank, here. Your complete and utter ignorance on the topics you're attempting to converse on is making you look absolutely, ridiculously, and disgustingly foolish. You're both walking a very fine line.
I need to get an "Amen" here!
Please stop the bullshit guys. Read very carefully what Acid_Reign and MajinVejitaXV have said. Especially the part out what a file container is versus the actual compression technique.

File Containers
Video Compression
My personal favorite is container is Matroska... mainly because it accepts so many codecs (codec =
Coder-
Decoder). Give me your AVIs and your MPEGs and your MPEG-2 streams, and I can make them all into MKV files, and lo-and-behold... the image quality doesn't change! What codec and bitrate the video stream uses are the primary determinants of visual quality of the video (not withstanding various encoder specific settings). It also supports multiple video streams, multiple audio streams, AND properly handles multiple subtitle streams!
My personal favorite encoder for video is X264, which will make
H.264 or MPEG-4 Part 10 AVC compliant video streams. Video quality is great for the bitrates. But encoding time is slower. My fav for audio is AAC, Nero has a free encoder for this out there and is what your iPods play (along with MP3s and whatnot).

Yay! My box set will be here in about ten minutes. Hopefully I can help out with some reviews and what not.

Yeah, but they were used for full-length movies. Like you said, that would make it low-resolution.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

I'm guessing these full-length movies were from a horrible source (You said something about the filesize being 250 megs? They should be way bigger than that. A gig or two at the most).
Anyways, when you know what to do with MPEG and all that, the videos can look very fine. And yeah.

No, 250 MB was for 22 minutes.

Make up your damned mind. First you said 250MB, then you said full length, now you're saying 22 minutes. You're going around in circles, and quite frankly your willful ignorance is annoying the piss out of me. People posted explanations and resources. Either take advantage of them, or go away.

I got an idea, let's talk about all that "900 Minutes of Uncut Action!!" from, y'know, that big orange thing...
Yeah... the last 3 pages have had only 6 posts having to do with the Season 1 set... -__-

I'm not sure there's really anything left to say about it, honestly.
You're either going to like the set, or not like it at all. It's a take it or leave it deal.
Mayhaps we should just let this thread die until the next thread is released? Because I personally don't see why this thread should go on any longer.

I agree. I vote to lock, anything worthwhile here can be brought up again easily.

WTF?
250 MB was for 22 minutes. I've never said otherwise.
Full-length movies were around 700 MB, and they are MPEG-1.
I've also said before that I have many MPEG videos, so I can have 22 minute videos (episodes) and full-length videos too.

Don't you mean
killing a dead horse?

Just kidding, you don't have to start an argument over this statement.
