Back then, a lot of people wanted "the worst wish ever" in ROF turn out to be Goku turning evil. This stuff never interested and we already had Turles anyway.
But damn, Toei really knows how to pump me up with their promot art. That looks beautiful.

I wanted this arc to be a long one, but after seeing how Champa arc turn out I don't have much hope.
Surprised the day came, where Trunks and Mai are officially a couple.

After Mai's voice actor comment some days ago this was obvious, but before that I never thought we would come this far.

I don't understand why they still didn't fix Trunks hair color though. There's no point in making blue now, unless there's a plot reason.

I think this is the perfect time to bring another voice actor to voice Evil Goku. Nozawa won't live forever and Toei should really think about this.
But knowing Toei instead of treasure her, they will just overwork her.

Well, let's hope this arc is entertaining.

It feels weird that people are going "YET ANOTHER EVIL GOKU" when it's only been done once. In a movie. Or twice if you reeeeeeeeeeeeaaallly want to reach with Raditz.

Counting with Raditz is stupid. That's like saying any evil Saiyan is a evil Goku. They have nothing in common, besides their parents.

Quick question, wasn't Kid Trunks's hair blue in Battle of Gods? That would explain why its blue here I guess.

Only his character design. It was fixed in the movie.
There was also C18 with purple hair, but that one never make it to the public.

Perfect Cell IS essentially how evil Goku would act. Obsessed about fighting to test himself with absolutely no regard for people's lives.

Those are just generic saiyan traits which were never exclusive to Goku. If anything Perfect Cell reminds more of Vegeta.

Indeed, you don't need to pay much attention to notice he inherited personality traits from all the characters that compose his DNA. He has as much in common with Goku as he has with Vegeta, Freeza or Piccolo.

Majin Boo is an ever more similar case. He's extremely energetic, nearly always has a smile on his face, even when causing destruction around him, has a huge appetite and has a mostly carefree attitude to pretty much anything.

That's stretching it a bit. The same thing could be said about Gotenks for instance.

There really aren't. I mean, yeah, there are a few characters who have one or two of those traits such as being extremely energetic and always seeming to have a smile on their face, but I don't know a lot of Dragon Ball characters who exhibited all of those traits in the entirety of their character.

Raditz and Majin Buu are definitely not an evil Goku. They're different characters with some similar traits. Majin buu is only similar because he has child like characteristics. Just like Goku. He's much more lazy and stupid than Goku. I would actually say Turles isn't the same as an evil Goku would be but it seems clear that's what the creators were trying to attempt.

Hope she's Mai's daughter and not Mai herself. would make more sense, right? I mean if somewhere near EoZ Pilaf and co made a wish to return to their old age, I'd assume Mai would be around what, 55 years old? I'd like to think she's around 5 years older than Bulma, give or take..

Anyways, as much as I'd want this Trunks to be the future version of the current timeline's Trunks, this isn't the case. So it's confirmed that this Trunks is the same one that defeated Cell.

I read that it's also stated somewhere that 17 had passed since Trunks returned to his future, but was it stated whether those 17 years transpired in Trunks's future or in the current timeline? Because if 17 passed in the future, that'd make future Trunks around 35 years old. He was 18 when he returned to his timeline and killed his timeline's Cell, right? As I said in my previous thread , Future Trunks doesn't look like a guy in his 30's, but then again, there's this saiyan genes issue

Unanswered questions at this point:
1. If that really is Mai, how is she so young? When exactly did Pilaf and friends wish for youth in Trunks's timeline?
2. If that really is Goku, how is he back? The Dragon Balls should not exist in Trunks's timeline
3. Is that a potara earring Goku's wearing? Did he fuse with someone? Is that why he's "evil"?

I wouldn't say Majin Boo is more lazy and stupid than Goku. I mean, the pink blob built a dog shaped house out of clay in a matter of minutes. That's insane craftsmanship skills right there. If anything, Majin Boo, much like Goku, is more misinformed than actually stupid, per se. With proper teaching, Majin Boo can actually pick up things quite quickly, just like Goku.

I actually like that design for Black Goku, I was worried it was going to be a generic red/black out fit but the all black works better. Also the earrings are a nice touch, helps him stand apart more.

Is it just me or is seeing that look on Goku's face kind of.....disturbing. Nether Ginyu or Turles looked quite that sinister. Reminds me of that nightmare Gohan had!

Thought about the same thing today. Would be interesting if they gave Goku Black a male VA to make the character more unique and distinct from regular Goku.

They also pulled a Frost with Tights by having Tights share Bulma's voice actress.

I'm good with it being Nozawa; I liked her Tullece.

I think Copy-Vegeta has a different voice because they wanted to give Whis' va something to do while he waits to reenter the show.

I wouldn't say Majin Boo is more lazy and stupid than Goku. I mean, the pink blob built a dog shaped house out of clay in a matter of minutes. That's insane craftsmanship skills right there. I have to agree here, Buu is basically taking Goku character take way what little common sense he did have and turning up the childishness. Evil, Super and Kid Buu are all possible archetypes for an evil Goku.

Goku's problem is similar to Superman's these days for me, he's become so iconic that treating him as anything but some icon you should be too chicken shit to maybe, possibly do something new with. The thing is, Superman's always in circulation, he's always gonna have a writer in one form or another come on and do something cool with him. Goku? He's been essentially off the board since GT and his development is basically over after Namek, once again, if you're gonna bring a franchise back, get someone to do cool new things with it like approach it from a different angle. I know Toriyama has his fans and all but sometimes you just need some new blood involved in the creative process.

I think it's dumb that Toei felt like shipping Trunks and Mai so hard that with no rhyme or reason, Mirai Mai is still alive, and somehow looks to be the same age to Mirai Trunks.
