Jeez, you cant get much worse than this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ha5Cg_QsqY

(when the manga looks like this)
I invoke the Animator Draft.
DB super gets Deguchi, and Kitano gets shipped off to One Piece where he'll have a bit more time and staff to do the episodes. I also vote that DB super shows up on Yoshikazu Tomita's schedule
Deguchi used to be a lot worse than Kitano, he pretty much couldn't do a single half-decent shot.
But...i'm not sure if Deguchi improved or it's due to being paired with better staff, but his Dressrosa episodes have been pretty satisfying. His last one this week was great. It's probably a little bit of both.

That Said i have no idea why Toei wouldnt just put it in the basic anime as a filler arc. It would advertise the movie, it would put the show back a little bit, and it wouldnt leech animators from other projects.
I'm just guessing here but, that way, the movie promotion would just reach the regular audience, fans who watch the anime every week and most likely would go to the theaters regardless. A Saturday night movie always gets higher ratings and has the potential to reach a different viewership, so it should work much better for them.

How on EARTH do you get such a spectacular quality downgrade, the entire episode felt like it was Uchiyama on Steroids, hell, even that planet rotating cut looked like that Cut during the Uchiyama episode where goku fights 19, and next episode only looks worse.

This Episode was just horrid, with only one decent shot in there of Kaio's rotating Planet... that's it
The NEP for 46 looks a hell of a lot better than this episode or 24 to me.

Imo NEP looks way better than 24 but only slightly better than this ep. I really don't think this ep was that ugly. Outside of the ss3 gotenks part it was a decent-good ep animation wise. I still really like the constant waves of energy thing that they did (when gotenks attacked Vegeta, goku and Vegeta's kick, when copy vegeta and gryll stopped flying), vegeta's attempt at a galick gun, copy vegeta's actual galick gun, goku's kamehameha scene, and gotenks fusion scene.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

This might be a little cheeky of me, but it's pertinent to the point of the thread, so some of you might find it interesting.

I put together a short overview of Dragon Ball Super's production issues; why it is the way it is, and what could possibly be done to fix things.

Here it is.

Hope it's useful/entertaining/a time-killer.

Should probably post that on the reddit so that it'll get more attention. This needs to be made known. Too many people are way too ignorant. I'm not even close to an expert but you, this thread, and Jacob have taught me a lot.

Really well done and extremely informative video, Ajay. I hope a lot people watch this and take into perspective the situation regarding Dragon Ball Super's production and the production of anime as a whole because there a lot of misinformed people on the internet and YouTube is one the main breeding ground for misinformation.

Yeah, after reading the comments here i was expecting a lot worse. It was just a mediocre, run-of-the-mill episode in a long running show.
Maybe the fact it came after some well done episodes made it more disappointing, which i agree. But oh well, that's how it works.

Pretty nice!

I still think the franchise needs new, talented people that can tackle the other issues besided bad art and animation.

-Ajay's video-
A small really well done and informative video, that blows out any DB reviewer video out there. It's always good to hear someone that knows what he's talking about.
Good job Ajay! Extra points for the sexy voice.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

Wouldn't another possible fix based on Ken Otsuka's comments about how they basically had 3 weeks to animate episode 39 be to get a bunch of script writers and storyboarders together and pump out a bunch of stuff in a short period of time so that when animators finish an episode they can actually go right onto the next one?

This is single-handedly the best informative Dragon Ball-related video I've ever seen on YouTube. You're more than this community deserves.

Yamamuro's shining effects returned in the new promotional picture, and it REALLY bugged me :P
So i felt like editing them out, (i actually even redrew Trunks' weird looking ear lol)
Which one looks better?:

Wow. What an improvement. The smaller details really do make a world of difference.

I like Mai as she appears in the official promo. Trunks indeed looks better on the modified ones.

And btw, whose idea was it to make the shadows of the face that way? The way it was shaped in the original series was perfect and it gave a nice looking shape to the characters. Goku gives a total different vibe with the correct shadow and without those hideous highlights.

If this is Yamamuro, isn't anybody on Toei that has the authority to step up and fix things?

Yamamuro is probably too well-connected, being friendly with Morishita Kouzou.

Why would anyone in toei step up and fix up things just because its yamamuro, sounds really unnecessary. Even if someones does step up what are they going to do?, show yamamuro how he should do his work?

Thats not going to achieve anything though and thats the point i am trying to make. He is the character designer and has his own style whether people like it or not.
