Who is Goku Black? Your thoughts and theories

I see. That theory does makes sense in a very twisted way.

I was thinking more along the lines that Black Goku is our Goku from the main timeline that somehow got into Trunks' time. Like at some point, like after Goku leaves with Uub or something, an incident will happened to Goku that will corrupt him and sends him on the path to becoming Black Goku. The long-term consequences after Black Goku is dealt with is learning what this incident was and how to keep Goku from becoming Black Goku. Kind of like the storyline with the Justice Lords from Justice League.

I think one element that favors the theory that Goku Black is how the Goku we know will turn out within a short period of time was that Toriyama mentioned the arc would deal with time changing, so that could mean the cast tries to prevent that incident once Trunks realizes Black is Goku after all. If this theory is correct there should be a sign before long..

They will probably succeed and diverge time once again, but if they didn't, then Goku and Goku Black would end up as the same person at some point. That would be awesome.

I see where you coming from and would be awesome if Black Goku turns out to be how Goku will turn out if certain event isn't prevented and part of the drama is learning how to prevent that incident.

Another theory is that Black, is actually separate entity who attacks Trunks. After Trunks tries to escape in the time machine, Black manages to grab it and travel through time with him. It turns out that Black was searching for Goku for reasons, but was upset to learn Goku was long dead, but somehow hears about the time machine. So, he causes a bunch of chaos to push Bulma to use the time machine to get help from the past. Once he meets Goku and confirms he's the one he has been looking for, he forced a fusion on him using the earrings, creating Black Goku.

Of course, the problem with this theory is that Black Goku doesn't look like fuse being. Unless Goku merged with himself.

Crackpot theory: We only see half of Goku Black's face. Maybe the other half isn't Goku?

I think Black is Demigra, or Demigra is controlling and using a body of Goku (Maybe the deceased Mirai Goku) to change the future and conquer worlds.
Basically a mix of Xicor (Toyble AF) and Heroes masked Bardock but I hope it isn't.

Original BoG storyline was that the Proto-Beers had the power to infect others with evil. Because Multiverse Theory a Goku did meet this Proto-Beers,(who likely gave him those potaras) got infected, and killed everyone. Then because Time Travel, A Mirai Trunks or The Mirai Trunks came across him and is now trying to escape from him.

I think Black is likely a new enemy that can take over other people's body or can awaken their deep evil. So far, it sounds like Black is another Bebi or Babidi type of character. I still want to see more action before I make any proper judgement.

To introduce Demigra they had to tell the WHOLE story for those that doesn't play the games (like me). I guess no.
So maybe it's something like (the earring it's the same), but without the whole complications of the Time God.

It could be quoted, like "those are the earrings that turn gods into devil demon gods!", but Demigra will not show up.
So, who's Black Goku? SayanGod + earring that turn you evil.

Could be nice that those earrings work like Lord of the Rings artifacts, bending people will and call them to be used.

I'm still clinging to the hope that "Goku Black" is a red herring, but I'm guessing that the actual villain is a time traveller who's gone through history, and realising the significant impact Goku has, alter his/her appearance to look like Goku, and use his appearance to create havoc in the timeline. The enter Future Trunks...

Oh Lord, Z-One from Yu-gi-oh! 5Ds all over again. No more time-traveling protagonist pretenders for me, thank you very much.

I think Toriyama could do an Evil Goku, I am in that camp, but forcing the idea to accommodate Future Trunks creates a logistical nightmare (Goku is dead in his era, for one) that kills the fun. Of course, Mai is Future Trunks age by virtue of wish that could not be made in a timely manner in his time, so consistency is not the object here.
