TheMajinRedComet wrote:Well to a dub fan like me its very cool ,because some of the voices were done by different people in the Freeza saga such as Tenshinhan. Also almost every voice actor is better now then they were in 1999, but I bet they will leave cell saga and onward pretty much untouched. They really only said that Sabat was redoing his lines, probably doing it for free. I really don't care what people say about the guy, but he seems like a nice guy who really enjoys his job and the material to me at least.
Hopefully that's what they'll do. I'm looking forward to seeing the Freeza/Ginyu saga redubbed because it NEEDS IT. The dialogue is just plain nasty.
I agree that Sabat really seems to enjoy his job and in my opinion is one of the best at his job. No other voice actor I've seen gets into his role like he does.

He gets into his roles because he plays every damn one of them. It must be pretty convenient for him being head of casting AND a voice actor. Not to mention they all sound exactly the same. Yeesh.

LOL, no. Don't get me wrong, I've met him a couple times, and I'll agree that he's a very nice guy, but this is his job, not some charity event. I can assure he gets paid for every minute spent in the recording booth.

"We stride to put out the best products in the anime business, this includes the Dragon Ball series. in order to meet many fans expectations we saught the idea to convert the Dragon Ball Z series completly in 16:9 widescreen presentation"
Whoever said FUNimation was watching these forums were somewhat wrong =P
So they're more or less redubbing from Season 3 onward huh? Too bad that I never got to see the original Freeza stuff. Some may call it a blessing, some may call it a curse, I just wanted to see what all the hubhub was about

What's he like in real life? His on-camera persona seems to be a total goofball.

Which music will Funi be using starting from season 3? Faulconer's, or the UUE music?

Bruce Faulconer's music.

I dunno, he just came off as an average guy to me. I wouldn't really call his personality "goofy", at least not to the extent where he'd stand out in a crowd (well, maybe a little).
If you wanna meet a real character, track down Scott McNeil.

I remember saying "Hi Piccolo" to him and he replied in his Piccolo voice.

I've emailed Bruce Faulconer about this. He said the music for the first 67 episodes wouldn't be his, and onwards, his music will be retained. The odd thing though, is that he said his music would be mixed into 5.1... but this.. November I emailed him, I believe, so that will probably change if it already hasn't.

Aw, one of the reasons I wanted the Freeza set so badly was because of the amusing, nostalgic Season 3 because that's when I got into the show.
Ah well, I'm getting that set anyway.

Pfft, obviously you all don't know of the awesome Garlic Jr. saga line.
"HA! PEEKABOO! COME TO BIG DADDY GARLIC!"
Seriously though, this is good. Hopefully we can get rid of those awful bits of dialogue and get something closer to the original dialogue. The UUC episodes of the Freeza saga "tried" to at least stick to the serious nature of the original, rather than go with the rest of the series and inject painful jokes and puns, one after another.
I am definately not gonna miss everything that came out of Freeza's mouth.

No worries, the dub w/t broadcast music should be left untouched audio wise, in both music and dialogue. I say this looking off of the season 1 set, all that had been changed there with dialogue was in the dub w/t Japanese music. See for yourself.
Conan the SSJ wrote:From what I noticed, they only did one instance of re-redubbing in the dub w/t Japanese music, where if you compare it to the dub w/t broadcast music, it's clearly different. Now I'm not gonna watch the dub w/t broadcast music, but for this instance, I did switch audio tracks to see if FUNi left this in. So it is as follows:
Dub w/t Japanese music - Vegeta: "That Kayoken attack is a nice trick..."
Dub w/t broadcast music - Vegeta: "That Kaioken attack is a nice trick..."
No, I'm not kidding. They actually went to the trouble of re-redubbing this one line, apparently to maintain "continuity". Though from what I can gather, nothing else is touched, though I'm basically assuming that considering "Three years ago, Planet Vegeta was destroyed" and "Raditz is faster than the speed of light" lines aren't bothered with. Do what this info what ya' will.

I'm a pretty big fan of the old Season 3 Dub although it's probably more out of nostalgia or even pity. However, does any one know which voice actors have left FUNi after that season and would need to be re-dubbed? I know the guy who did Ginyu as well as the Narrator is gone so I would assume he will be replaced by the current Narrator as well as the guy who did his Ginyu voice in the UUE (DragonBall Narrator, I believe). But here are the characters I see being redone:
Vegeta
Ginyu
Tien
Yamcha(The surfer attitude was kind've dropped after that season)
Any more?

I could see Kami's first scene when he's brought back to life, Moori, Oolong ("Hey, I'm a surfer from the Bahamas!"), Mr. Popo, and Guldo being redubbed as well. Hell, if FUNi are nitpickey enough, they may even have Sabat redub Burter for what scenes he's in just so Mark Britten can't be credited. Though you have to wonder, with my previous discovery in season 1, if the "dub w/t broadcast music" in the latter part of season 2 and season 3 will contain any of the new redubbing that seems exclusive to the dub w/t Japanese music.

I remember Kyle Hebert (Buu saga Gohan and Current Narrator) saying along with redoing all of the naration not done by him, he was also going to do Gyu-Mao's lines that were done by a diffrent actor.
