.... Is the hair color REALLY such a big deal guys?

Dragon Ball fanbases and hair arguments go hand in hand! This is merely the newest edition to the Hair Wars.

There's nothing wrong with it, if they explain it. Jaco appeared out of nowhere and we barely got anything telling us how he got such a relationship with Bulma. It's forcing us to read the manga - use the Internet - to know what's going on. To me that's a flaw.

Then what about crossover stories like The Avengers, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles or any other multimedia story?

It's kinda of the same thing, it forces you to consume more products(side products) to have all the information needed. It's a capitalism machine that feds of the "Universe" were it happens.
It's different from extending a story into various movies/books, since those are still self-contained and you have all the information there in progression.

3 things about the hair colour:

1) he does have a girlfriend (Mai) and we all know that a girlfriend can force you doing something.
2) he was escaping from this black thing so maybe a disguise
3) Akira like blue more than purple (maybe sells better)

I think it's the fourth.

4)Toriyama always wanted Trunks to have the same hair color than Bulma, and forced Toei to change it now.
His BOG character design for Kid Trunks had blue hair too, but Toei changed it. This time Toei probably wanted to fix it too, but he was like "No,no,no, it's really blue!".

I would like a character in-universe ask him about it, but they probably will just play along it and assume he always had blue hair.
But when Kid Trunks and Future Trunks meet it will be awkward, if they don't point this out. Unless of course, Kid Trunks is conveniently out of picture in this arc.

Interestingly enough, Fuji's website lists "Light Crimson" (or whatever that awesome song was called) as the ending. Maybe that's a typo.
