What if Super had the Tokunaga score?
A lot of people are a bit wary about Super's soundtrack. Many of them make edits with Kikuchi's music inserted. Some even insert Faulconer and Yamamoto. I think one overlooked score is the Tokunaga's music for GT. I think it would suit the series quite a bit. Does anyone else agree?

I absolutely adore Tokunaga's music in Dragon Ball GT . It's so different from Kikuchi's and a lot of his pieces felt like Dragon Ball with modern taste. It worked.
Would it fit with Super? I think that if he had been given an opportunity to do the score, he would have done much better job than the current composer, even with limited budget. I do think, though, Kikuchi's recap music probably would fit better with Super's recaps.

Tokunaga's score for GT and Path To power is fantastic, and I would have loved if he made a comeback in some fashion with the new material. But unfortunately, due to Toei wanting the public to forget GT ever happened, Tokunaga most likely by proxy for being GT's main composer, wasn't considered to to the music for any of the new material or projects such as Kai, BOG, ROF or Super. And that's a shame because he really brings something great and distinct to the table.

For starters, GT is still constantly being shoehorned into all facets of merchandise right alongside Super, so there's no hidden agenda to bury its very existence. Furthermore, we have absolutely no information to even begin to theorize off of regarding Tokunaga's non-continued involvement, so to even say something like what you've said is... well... like I said, dangerous.

You're right. I should have made it clear that this was more of a personal theory, as supposed to a fact, as people could go around running with what I said as possibly a fact and that could turn into fake "information" spreading around the fandom. And we already have enough of that as it is to still deal with. I'm greatly apologise for not making it clear, I will be sure that if I make comments like this in the future I will definitively and very clearly state that this is merely a personal theory or opinion, instead of making it seem as though it is fact, unless I have the appropriate, accurate and reliable information to support my opinion as more than just an theory. That would be a dream. Either Kikuchi or Tokunaga, I love them both.
We didn't have much luck with the composers since tthen.
Sumitomo does some interesting stuff. This new soundtrack that played in the last episode when Future Trunks appeared, was cool and another one for his wins list. But he's still far below their level. Still much better than Yamamoto work on Kai though.

Having rewatched GT not too long ago, I wasn't really that impressed with the score overall. I'm not sure how else to describe it other than "video gamey" a lot of the time. Sumitomo's score has a similar weakness.

If Super had Tokunaga i wouldn't be complaining about Super's music. Tokunaga is the one that comes close to the great Shunsuke Kikuchi. He would've done a better job than Sumitomo that's for sure.

My initial response is that I'd enjoy it more (though there are a few Sumitomo tracks I think are quite good), but I'm not entirely sure Tokunaga's GT score would work outside of the pastel-hued nostalgic space opera it was originally paired with.
I found it comparably less fitting with the 10th anniversary movie, though it still worked well enough to provide a decent approach moving forward, I guess. At any rate, we'll never know.
