Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #45]
Not necessarily everything I GIFed was impressive, but I mainly GIFed thing's I liked. If Yashima had a little more time to polish his art his episodes could be incredible. I'm excited to see if he's given any fights in the next arc.

47 looks like it has a lot of animation going on, all of the stuff with Black looks very heavily animated, I love it!

Took a look at the NEP while sober and it's literally nothing like Ishikawa's work at all, and I should probably not post after several glasses of wine.
Like, almost the whole thing looks like Tate! The rocks that fall towards the start, and the smoke that pops afterwards are all Tate. The Goku and Piccolo shots already posted are definitely him, too.
The action bits towards the end aren't him, though he may well do some work there in the full episode. I way more excited now.
For some reason I can't edit the main post. Messaged mods about it, but haven't received a reply yet.

Do you think this is Tate? The nose, cheek roundness and shading make me think so, but it's so refined compared to his other Super work. I guess Tate might have actually had more time to animate this episode.

Tate did do episode 11, after all, so he definitely can draw to model if he has the time/wants to, I guess.
The ear shape matches his style, so if it's not him, he may well have corrected it.
Given it's the first episode of the arc, I'm thinking he was given some good staff, so the time spent correcting could be spent on refining the art quality across the board.
I guess we'll see!

Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #45]
The large amount of movement in all of the scenes involving Black sure make me excited. Outside of last week we've been getting so much more animation in each episode and hopefully it stays that way. If he really did have more time than usual on this episode hopefully that means some progress has been made on improving the preproduction side of things.Ajay wrote:Possibly!ArchedThunder wrote:Do you think this is Tate? Seeing more refined Tate art sure does make me wish he was also the show's character designer... But we go on about Yamamuro enough in this thread :p
Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #45]
This episode was really good considering it was a Yashima episode. The man can get work done, Kitano needs to get his stuff together. NEP looks great but so did the NEP for 45 which was just a decent ep in the end.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

I'm very excited with next episode's animation. Looks really cool!

After watching the preview thoroughly, most of it looks like Tate. However Future Bulma's face and trunks crying bit does not look like him.

Next time on DB Super
Snide jokes aside, ep 46 didnt look NEALY as bad as i thought it would. It kind of looks like super used the last 3 episodes to maybe adjust the staff rotation a bit? or perhaps they got help from an extra studio to cover some of these episode? Whatever they do, I hope it at least looks good. maybe lasts 24 episodes and has a multi dimensional plot that isnt just "bad guy go kill" Kind of like the whole cell arc but this time without rapidly switching antagonists

I know this is odd to say since i hate the Chimera Ant Arc from Hunter x Hunter with a blinding passion but I'm kinda rooting for an arc more like that, in terms of story telling but, without the 3 bullshit endings that went with it.

I heard that there was a reshuffle of the staff. So was it a minor or a major reshuffle ? So did Super get any new experienced staff members ? Also the World Trigger staff is continuing to work on Super right ?
Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #45]
Just a shuffle in the sense that some currently working supervisors who were due an episode have been given extra time:dhaval_dongre wrote:I heard that there was a reshuffle of the staff. V = Supervised
P = Paired with a regular
I made this in like 10 minutes earlier, so it's pretty shitty. Only the top few regular animators really matter.

The current schedule for most supervisors is about 5 or 6 weeks.
Tate has been due an episode for a few weeks now, so by the looks of the preview and the rotation, it makes sense that he's up next. A 8 to 9 week Tate episode will be a first. Though it's worth keeping in mind that he did do some minor uncredited work on 45.
I'll be interested to see who's working on 48. Shimanuki would be the most logical choice, butthey may bring in a non-regular like the Oka/Manabe duo. It really depends whether they've dropped off the series for good. We haven't seen them since #27. I'm dumb.
With the recent pairing on Ishikawa and Toma, and how rushed the episode was, it wouldn't surprise me if we saw Ishikawa pop up soon, too. It's those pairings that have been throwing off my guess-work.

I really want toma to handle episode on his own. Loved episode 4. As for #48 i think Ishikawa is due to do an episode. Last one he did was #41 with Toma.

Assuming Ishikawa isn't working on 47 with Tate I think he's likely working on 48.
Hopefully Yoichi Onishi comes back, maybe he could work with Ishikawa or something. Also him not being on that list bothers me since he did the better half of episode 43, lol.

I don't think we're going to see anyone handle an episode on their own other than Yashima for a long time, especially if what Kei said is true. We're probably going to continue to see 2 or 3 supervisors as well as an assistant on each episode from now on.Sodhi wrote:I really want toma to handle episode on his own. Loved episode 4. That's very true, though I was talking about supervising roles rather than key animation.ArchedThunder wrote:He wasn't working with Oka, but Manabe did work on 39.
Speaking of key animators on #39, my hope is that Yuji Hakamada gets to lead an episode at some point in the future. That'd be a blast from the past.

I am waiting for hatano, tate and king ryu combo. Really hope that happens. If next episode is that, I'll be really happy.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean, but Manabe was listed as a Supervisor on 39.Ajay wrote:That's very true, though I was talking about supervising roles rather than key animation.ArchedThunder wrote:He wasn't working with Oka, but Manabe did work on 39.

Also I didn't realize that Onishi was an assistant supervisor on 39 as well, hopefully since he came back as a supervisor so soon after means he won't be going anywhere.

Oh, what the fuck, I never noticed either of those things before. Forgive me then, I'm an idiot.ArchedThunder wrote: Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean, but Manabe was listed as a Supervisor on 39.

That's really good to know! That also explains why that episode didn't fall apart under Kitano. The more you know.
Thanks! I'll go fix up my sheet.

As for Yuuji Hakamada it is pretty weird that he hasn't been a supervisor yet, I mean he did so many Z and GT episodes and now he's poping in a lot, being an assistant on 39, 42 and 43 and now even doing some key animation on the most recent episode. If he doesn't get to be a supervisor on a regular episode hopefully he at least gets to be one on an important episode when they use 3 supervisors.
Speaking of 46, I wonder what he did on that episode. My guess would be some of the really well drawn close ups of Blue Goku, maybe even the Kamehameha, those certainly weren't Yashima at the very least.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #45]
True, though I'm still blown away by how little he actually did in the end!ArchedThunder wrote:That and the ever dominating hand of Yamamuro

I couldn't pick out any of Hakamada's work in the recent episode. Everything is either strictly Yashima-looking or 99% on-model. None of his traits that we saw in #39 are coming through at all. Not sure what that's about.
You did just make me realise that in my drunken state, I accidentally posted the 2nd key animator list under the key animator heading. Kanzenshuu's current experimental edit limit sure did come at the absolute worst time.
I'm not doing well this week, am I?

Ah, so you can only edit a post so many times? So what are you going to do when episodes come out now?
