Yet another 'New' character based off Gokus design

Might not all be canon, but that's Bardock, Turles, Goten, Goku Jr. And now this 'Black Goku' ?

Anybody else tired of them rehashing Gokus design? Not much we can do about it obviously, but still !

I originally thought you meant another shounen protagonist was announced, but even In-Universe, I am a bit tired of it. Though since Black Goku is Goku, I can let it slide. Him, Turles and Bardock were justified. Turles was a doppelganger and Bardock is his father he draws from to reinforce his destiny against Freeza.

Goten and Goku Jr. were just overdoing it for the sake of being iconic and shoving it down our throat at that point. So yes I am a bit bored with the Goku rehashes.

I wish they'd give Goten his own haircut. He gets his own in EoZ.

Gokû Jr I don't care about. His main visual difference is he has a different face.

Bardock works because all he shares is the hair and voice. He's got a different face and personality.

Turles worked for what he was; an attempt at a Kakarrotto "What if" who had a Raditz personality and Gokû looks. His hair is slightly different though, and he has a different skin color so he's closer to Bardock as a semi-doppelganger.

I can't speak for Gokû Black until I know his back story. He could be another coincidence character or he could be a genuine parallel timeline Gokû.

Well, I mean, for a character given the name of 'Goku Black', I'd be more surprised if he DIDN'T look like Goku in some way. Either way, it's always intentional. I always I thought Goten looking just like Goku was somewhat lazy. Same with Bardock, really. It affirms the idea that part of the reason why these characters are so great is BECAUSE they look like Goku. As opposed to them being, you know, their own characters.

I think Goten is the responsible for the boredom that is to see Goku's face all over the places. It's good for him that he gets his own hairstyle (which happens to be Gine's hair) in the end of Z, but it is so short that it doesn't help much either. I don't think there was a need for him to be exactly like Goku.

As said, Turles' face is intentional, they just wanted to show us what an evil Goku is like.

Bardock is Goku's father and since Saiyan saga (occuring way before his TV Special aired) his appearance had already been defined (through Raditz's words). Still, Bardock wears a headband and has a scar, making him "unique, yet an alternative of Goku".

Goku Jr... Well, he's just there. I don't think people watch the end of Dragon Ball GT and his TV Special over and over, so... He gets a free pass.

I'm up for Goten getting a new hairstyle like he did in EoZ. It's like the way Gohan's resemblance to Goku was handled, he had the Gokuu face, but also had alternate traits that made his design his own (and by that, I mean Yamucha's hairstyles lol). Goten's problem was that he was intentionally made a 100% mini-Gokuu.

I'm 100% okay with Goku Black. All the other Son Goku look-alikes were created in the 90s and I experienced those the majority of those characters for the first time between 1998 and 2002. With anywhere up to 18 years of separation between someone like Tullece and Goku Black, I personally don't feel like there's too many Son Goku clones for me to enjoy them all.

That said, I still jokingly call him Super Tullece on Twitter.

Kinda like how Mewtwo was clone of Mew, this Black Goku is a lazy copy of Son Goku

Goten & Bardock was understandable. They genetics could run in the family. Cool

Tullece was genuine suprise package. Despite his "lack of character" his identical facial look with Goku (to which not a SINGLE character frm Tree of Might made a remark) & being a villain was...intriguing to a degree

But you dont pull off da same trick again & again & goddamn. Just pallete swap & a Potara. BAM!! We have our "new" villain.

If this is the BEST creativity level TOEI can come up with, just screw any & every TOEI-related DB products.

Notice how every time Goku-esque characters pop only to get their characters flushed down the drain sooner or later. EXCEPT Goku (dat too thx to Toriyama's method of handling his main character) most Goku derivatives end up as significantly inferior character.

A good amount of the new designs are just rehashes of previous ones so this shouldn't be surprising.
