"Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
It's nice to see a new face. It's also nice to see that Tate will be the animation supervisor for an episode with Gokuu fighting a copy of Vegeta. Hopefully they are working with other good animators.

It's always great to see some new blood! Also I'm REALLY happy Tate gets what seems like it will be the main fight of this little filler arc.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
So excited! A new face and Tate handling episode 45? This could end up being a very pleasant little downtime arc.

Tate has pretty much become a regular for Super, hasn't he? Not that I'm complaining at all. More Tate is always welcome.

Can't wait to know the staff for the next episodes. The info usually appears by this time of the month, right?

Ootsuka Ken bought a book that I haven't seen before. I'm sure it isn't rare, but I think I missed the news for that one! Anyway, he also mentions something about Yamamuro I think?
Thought it might be fun to share!

Anyone seen the "Endless Eight" arc from Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya? Was watching it the other day, and the fact that they wasted 8 episodes with brilliant animation for that, and we can't even get 1/3 of the quality for Super, was just like rubbing salt in my wounds.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
KyoAni only works on about 3 project a year (as far as I know); they're not strapped for time and resources like Toei is.
Also, I don't know if it'll help, but Endless 8 was disliked for its repetitiveness back when it was airing weekly ("Kyon-kun, denwa."). It had been a while since the original 1st season of Haruhi and everyone was worried/stunned at the theory that they could "waste" 8 of their 12 or 13 episodes of season 2 doing the same episode. I don't know if it was a factor or not, but after the Haruhi movie, KyoAni never went back to animate any more Haruhi light novels. Even that Yuki spin-off that came out a year or so ago was done by a different animation company and not KyoAni.
Personally, I don't recall being overly frustrated during Endless 8; it was more a surreal guessing game to me than anything else.

Not surprised it was hated, but that just adds to my point. Some companies have the luxury of doing that kinda stuff, and we can't even fix Vegeta's nose on a still frameChuquita wrote:KyoAni only works on about 3 project a year (as far as I know); they're not strapped for time and resources like Toei is.

He bought it to study Yamamuro's designs since Dragon Ball's drawing style changes over time and the standard today is his.

That definitely makes it sound like he's going to work on some more Super episodes!alakazam^ wrote:That's the Anime Comic.Wezenheim wrote:Ootsuka Ken bought a book that I haven't seen before. Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
Briilliant animation might be result of using their own cast of writers, animators etc., like they said in this video, cast know each other very well, and know how to animate such scene, or how to drawn it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPzeO5iPJ4M Really lokking forward for 2nd season of Hibike! Ah okay, thanks a lot! It seemed like he was saying something like that, but I didn't want to go off of Google translate at all. I figured the book was probably an anime comic or something of the sort, but I didn't know one existed for 'F'! Interesting to know.alakazam^ wrote:That's the Anime Comic.Wezenheim wrote:Ootsuka Ken bought a book that I haven't seen before. I'm sure it isn't rare, but I think I missed the news for that one! I was thinking the same thing, but I also think he would've tried to come back anyway! He seems to really enjoy the franchise, and if I remember correctly he even tweeted a while ago that he was excited to see Future Trunks return. I'd love to see him provide some key animation for this arc, hopefully with some decent time. Even his repeat frames are nice!ArchedThunder wrote:That definitely makes it sound like he's going to work on some more Super episodes!

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
His repeating frame clashes are better than anyone else's on the show, that's for sure. If the Future Trunks arc is going to do what they've been doing recently and just throw shit tons of staff on every episode I wouldn't mind seeing him do like one cut every couple episodes, it'd be better than getting a couple cuts rarely and him being rushed on those.Wezenheim wrote:I was thinking the same thing, but I also think he would've tried to come back anyway! Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
I finally finished Episode #46. The preview for Episode #47 looks like it will have some cool work from Tate Naoki. I hope he isn't he only good animator working on the episode.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
Kaizawa Yukio is storyboarding and directing Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Crystal Episode #37. Don't expect to see him return to Dragon Ball Super for a while.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
At least Crystal isn't going to go on that much longer. It's only 13 total I think.JulieYBM wrote:Kaizawa Yukio is storyboarding and directing Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Crystal Episode #37. Don't expect to see him return to Dragon Ball Super for a while.
