Why was Trunks surprised that Goku was still alive?

When Future Trunks returns to the present, he is surprised by the fact Goku is still alive in the main timeline. Why would Trunks be surprised by this if he specifically gave Goku the antidote for the virus.

Dude, remember Goku got blown to smithereens by Cell and when everyone went to the LookOut with the dragonballs to revive Goku he said that he rather wanted to stay dead so that bad guys don't show up.

Trunks was not surprised that Goku didn't die from the heart disease.

Here's the dialog from the anime:

Trunks: "Say, more importantly, where is Son Goku-san?"
"That heart disease, the one you warned us about? He just barely came down with it."
Trunks: "Is that how badly time has been shifted?

I can't find this interaction in the manga, so I'm not sure it exists. Basically, Trunks was surprised because Goku got the heart virus much later in "our" timeline than his own.

I'm starting to think this is a different Trunks with comments like this.
Future Trunks from the Cell Saga HAD to have known that Goku had the heart virus during his duration in the main timeline.
I'm sure someone told him that was the reason why Goku was sidelined for most of the arc.

Seems like he's surpirsed that Goku got the heart virus at the time. I8m assuming it's because by that time in Trunks' timeline Goku had already died from the heart virus. He thought Goku in this timeline would have already gotten the virus and been fully healed

Awesome. I just couldn't find it when I was skimming through it. The quote from the anime was easy to pull up since I all of the subtitles in a Word document (ctrl+F is my friend; can't ctrl+F the manga ).

It's chapter 348, page 3. Volume #24 if you're reading from the Kanzenban. It's the same page where Trunks describes #17 and #18's physical appearance and establishes that they're not ki absorbing types like #19 and Gero were.
