I was wondering something... Don't you guys think that 'cute girl' Mai is out of character? I mean, young Mai in early DB was introduced as a mysterious looking woman with cunning tactics. She being portrayed as a cute girl doesn't suit well for me.

Lol mai hasn't been mysterious or cunning for a long time now. And I can't tell the difference between the Vegeta pictures? Both are of him acting like a baby.

Seriously though, there's been no butchering of Vegeta like with Videl, even if a picture of him with a pacifier in his mouth is posted out of context.

At least in Super Videl gets to assert herself over Chi-Chi. That's a bigger win than anyone else gets in the franchise.

I always thought she was there for an excuse to get Gohan to the 25th Tenkaichi Budokai. But she and Gohan were a cute couple....til Super made it about as interesting as watching paint dry.

True still could've train her about ki and shit at least something that could make her interesting.

So it's just Toei playing games as usual.

Oh god, his new art style just isn't the same... But I don't think it's a toei only thing. She acted the same in BOG and Toriyama had a large role in making that movie. It makes sense though, I kind of feel like she got that side of her beat out during the tournament. She now knows her fighting skills really aren't special at all compared to the monsters she interacts with. That's why I see it the same way I see Gohan's treatment. It's one of the believable paths they could have taken, but imo it's the worst one.

I don't think Toriyama crafted the character interactions.

He just outlines the plot and then everything else is filled in by Toei.

Yamamuro's design. The clothing is fine but the actual character drawings look emotionless and devoid of passion.

Those were her motivations and opinions. Her personality was, in large part, feisty.

Is that why? I always thought she was supposed to be Gohan's Chi Chi since he was he was supposed to be the MC from that point on, I guess that's basically the same. Though I must admit going from a kickass tomboy vigilante superheroine to a softspoken housewife is a rather drastic jump in character in such a short amount of time.

It's also a bit strange because Toriyama is like "All my women are strong-willed because I don't know how to write other types of women". But I guess Videl's an exception. Or maybe it's all just Toei's fault. Maybe it's that.
