Dragon Ball Re-Animate - Episode Reanimated by Fans
I started a thread a few weeks ago while recruiting was still being done on this, but now it's finally done!

This was an open-to-all project for various artists to come together and re-animate an episode of Dragon Ball. Over the course of the past year and a half, a ton of artists applied for and were given various shots throughout the episode to complete before a certain deadline. I have a few shots in it and I know other members like Scarz have shots as well. Please check it out and give it a share, a lot of people worked really hard to make this happen!

Everyone did an amazing job on this! Just finished watching the video and I love it just as much as the Sailor Moon reanimate project. Give it a watch guys! There's a lot of diverse styles in this project.

That was awesome. Everyone involved this did an amazing job. One scene in particular had me suddenly bursting out laughing.
This cut. Just...holy shit. I nearly fucking died.

The only thing that bugs me is that this uses the old Ocean cast for it with the replacement music. Drives me up a wall not hearing Kikuchi because the replacement music is so generic.

Oh wow, I completely forgot this was a thing! I'm glad it's finally done and out, I'll have to watch this all the way through when I have the chance. What little I've watched of it so far though is amazing. Some art styles aren't something I think I'd normally like too much, but there's just something really charming about the way everything flows here.

I really dislike the art style, though...
Re: Dragon Ball Re-Animate - Episode Reanimated by Fans
Which art style in particular? There were multiple takes on this episode.

Honestly, I just jumped here and there; I didn't watch the whole thing. And I didn't find anything of what I watched nice looking.Nejishiki wrote:Which art style in particular? There were multiple takes on this episode.

Haha, I suppose you got a lot of bad rolls, so to speak. Maybe another time? I'd reference them if I knew most of the names, but I think a decent amount of cuts had appropriate personality. Don't get me wrong however, I didn't think everything worked, but that was a minority portion of the entire episode.
Re: Dragon Ball Re-Animate - Episode Reanimated by Fans
Well, add the fact that none of these styles I could or would ever picture Dragon Ball in; it kinda threw me off, frankly. I guess if I sat down and watched it I'd appreciate the effort to make it look like something else, though.Nejishiki wrote:Haha, I suppose you got a lot of bad rolls, so to speak. Maybe another time? Congratulations to all the animators involved, this came out surprisingly well. Frankly I think it's a miracle this even managed to get finished considering how terrible the project manager was at handling his own emails.
Would enjoy contributing to a DBZ episode at some point in the future. Preferably not organized by Mr. Tapp.

Having never seen that dub, I thought that the voice over and music placement was 100% fanmade.ShadowDude112 wrote:The only thing that bugs me is that this uses the old Ocean cast for it with the replacement music. Drives me up a wall not hearing Kikuchi because the replacement music is so generic.

There are were many art styles that I really liked from it. That´s all I need to say.
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.
Re: Dragon Ball Re-Animate - Episode Reanimated by Fans
Sorry you didn't dig it as much. But I think you should try watching it a bit more to give it a fair chance. The point of the project was for each animator to use their own unique style for each scene. It really wasn't about making it look close to the Dragon Ball series. Or even making their shot look like a masterpiece. It was very diverse collaboration that made the project special (very much like Sailor Moon Animate-Makeup was).sangofe wrote:Well, add the fact that none of these styles I could or would ever picture Dragon Ball in; it kinda threw me off, frankly. I hope someone starts a DBZ Reanimate project. I would so be on board for that one!
