I know you want this thread to die, but wouldn't it be called a white-list? You'd have to manually approve all new users, require them to write an intelligent essay to get in or something. Might prove to be too much work though, but the real question is if it is less work than getting rid of the spam accounts.

I'm sure this was covered in the verification code thread, but I want to emphasize (that I'm not sure if that's the right spelling...).

Verification codes are the bane of my internet existance. Something to do with just one eye that is far less powerful than it was at the turn of the millennium... so if I ever get the chance to say that they suck, I do so... because getting a third partyy to read the thing just so I can get an account with a random blog or something is just... Grr... *praises Daizex for the not having of this ... that and it's a bit bigger of a place*.

But we all know that codes don't stop them, right? Well... not on my board anyway, leading me to believe that the codes won't last forever in the net as a whole...

... which reminds me of things I must do.

Peace then.

Ex, you should really make this a sticky so newer users can know not to respond.

Wait, doesn't this site have one of those thingies that randomly creates an image of letters and numbers in order to prevent bots from joining the forum? What good is it if they still get by?

There'd probably be like ten times more if it wasn't there.

That's kind of what I was trying to suggest, though it came out as an authorization code instead.

Think this should be stickied? Some of the newer people don't get it about NOT REPLYING.

The irony of all of this is that these spam bots will eventually even post in this thread.

Oh come on now, some of them advertise some really nice products and services that are invaluable to this organization.

True. When I first became part of this forum, I never saw any spamm posts. Now, I'm seeing them every week! Maybe it's because I spend more time here than I used to...?

No, it just started. I've been around here since May 2005 (under my brother's account), and I just started seeing the spambots late last year.

I'm thinking that it's DaizEX's popularity over the net is causing spambots to post here.

I think you guys are as bad as spambots for just posting about.... SPAMBOTS.

Don't you think VegettoEX would have done something by now if he wanted too, or if he could. Do you think he likes spending his days after he comes in from work taking the spambots off and their posts. It's not exactly fun is it. He does it regulary so just give the guy a break, and stop moaning about it. The only thing he asks of you is not to reply to them.

...and I (and a lot of the people posting here) know that...
We're just discussing why they are suddenly coming around more now. Maybe we can think of ways to get the situation under control? Sorry for bothering you Sir... (-_-)

So what have you discussed so far,

''Isn't there a way to stop the spambots, can you not get a code thingy?''

''Golly, we have a lot more spambots then we used too''

It's not really discussion, it's just complaining. You have had a responce by both Mike & even Meri just to let it go. I know you don't like spambots, who does? It's just something you have got to accept though. You find them on pretty much every forum.

Sorry to reply to this, but things have seriously got worse very recently.

If it isn't bots making obscene links threads, it's bot necroposting on topics that have been left for three years.

I hope Mike can fix this, as it's messing up my enjoyment of this great forum.

As soon as they show up, I take care of them. Ignore them. If you've been on the internet long enough, you'll know this is just part of the game. Deal.
