Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I thought people were saying Dragon Ball Super was a flop? LOL
Toyotarō: … I get the feeling I’ve just heard something amazing (laughs). Lord Beerus and Whis turn up in Dragon Ball Super, and have become an unsurpassable wall for Goku and the gang. What do the two of them mean to you?
Toriyama: Well… First off, right now I don’t have any plans for Goku and Vegeta to surpass Beerus and Whis.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Wow, i admit i really didn't expect the episode's rating to be that high. And i heard not too long ago that an upcoming anime will be Super's lead-in, so that's another good news.Konig wrote:http://www.videor.co.jp/data/ratedata/top10.htm

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
It's completely off topic but seeing as we have spoke about One Piece here, there's some new unconfirmed rumours going around that they might be doing a live action One Piece movie.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
That was the weirdest One Piece-related news ever. It all sounds like this Chinese company came up with a hoax just to push that Chinese idol, aka "the girl from One Piece', lol. The character she was supposed to play was barely introduced in the manga and they call her like that already?Bullza wrote:It's completely off topic but seeing as we have spoke about One Piece here, there's some new unconfirmed rumours going around that they might be doing a live action One Piece movie.

The fact they announced as Luffy the actor who just won an online poll as the favorite to play the role is also fishy as hell.

Even if Hollywood were to drop a 500 million dollar budget on a live action OP movie, it would never work. OP is too supernatural/fantastical to ever work as a live action movie.Bullza wrote:It's completely off topic but seeing as we have spoke about One Piece here, there's some new unconfirmed rumours going around that they might be doing a live action One Piece movie.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Yeah I could see Dragon Ball Z, Naruto and Bleach making a good movie but One Piece is way too "silly" for it to make a good movie.
If the Fantastic Four movies tell us anything they can't get even get the stretching to look right.

8.4 rating? Interesting.
In terms of writing? Yes.
In terms of characterisation/use of support character ? Yes
In terms of the artificial, forced tension? Yes.
In terms of production values? yes
In terms of the awful OST ? Yes
I can list more reasons why this series isn't good.

And yet you keep coming here to complain. Wouldn't that time be better serve watching or doing something you like.TheDBZmaster100 wrote:8.4 rating? Interesting.

Also, believe or not, there are people who do enjoy Super, otherwise people who have stopped watching a long time ago like GT.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I don't particularly think that's complaining. He merely broke down elements of Super he finds lacking with a tone of dismissal rather than ranting. Elaboration would be welcome, especially with what he meant by "artificial, forced tension", but I don't see anything wrong with his words.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I don't mind people voicing their dislike for the show, but I don't like when people give a list and don't elaborate on it. It comes off as a hit and run to me. Also in this case, it comes off as an attempt to throw cold water on a very successful week for Super since the quality of the show isn't the main point of this thread, especially since they're framing their personal opinion as if it's a fact, which is something I always had problems with.Nejishiki wrote:I don't particularly think that's complaining. You should add in that it's your opinion because this all highly subjective. I disagree with everything you claim but that's my opinion, the only thing we can state objectivily in the context of this thread is that DBS received an 8.4 rating which means that there are a lot of people who don't agree with you.TheDBZmaster100 wrote:8.4 rating? Even in Japan they prefer darker DB.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Well, that's obvious, isn't it? There's a reason why Z is more popular than DB ever hopes to be.fadeddreams5 wrote:Even in Japan they prefer darker DB.

Which is why it baffles me that the majority of Super is the way it is and people are so apologetic towards it.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I'm sure nobody actually believes Super would be more popular if it continued with the silly gag stuff instead of doing darker stories. People are "apologetic" towards it probably because they prefer silly DB to serious DB.fadeddreams5 wrote:Which is why it baffles me that the majority of Super is the way it is and people are so apologetic towards it.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I think it all comes down to balance. Super wasn't doing the best job of it but it was generally considered at servicable. However it was clearly reaching a limit to going too far in one directionfadeddreams5 wrote:Which is why it baffles me that the majority of Super is the way it is and people are so apologetic towards it.
I mean, I love Battle of Gods. I thought it was the perfect blend of serious and funny and it's my second favorite DB related movie and clearly Japan thought the same.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I dont know how you guys know what japanese people like or dont like. The one thing i know about japan is that, they love future trunks. Even Toriyama acknowledges that.
