We literally have a handful of chapters and like two episodes of Oob to work with (ignoring GT, which didn't properly utilize him anyway) and figure out what he's really like. How on Earth is that enough for people to assume he's Gohan 2.0?

I mean, we literally have more material of brand new characters like Jaco and Tights to work with to figure out what makes them tick.

Well from his debut we now he's a shy kid who doesn't like fighting as a hobby and gets really powerful when mad, like Gohan.

Then the "nice guy who enters tournament for money to help fight poverty in a village in South Asia" is taken from Namu.

Granted, we could have seen further development that puts his character on a different road than Gohan, but it seems all the new material takes place before his debut.

EDIT: Actually though, re-reading the end of the manga, it is mentioned that Uub is the strongest in this village. So maybe he is more into fighting than Gohan.

Regarding the first one, it feels more like Goku and Vegeta are taking it upon themselves to fix a problem they're entirely responsible for. Regarding the second one, I'm pretty sure Gohan considered skipping out on the conference, but decided of his own free will to go to the conference.

Agreed on the rest though. Have Krillin pass the torch to Gohan.

I'm actually honestly pretty impressed what they did with Uub in GT. He didn't act like Gohan 2.0. None of his strength came from rage. He fuses with Buu, and then has Buu's candy beam (which he uses to create a giant tornado of ki, and then uses as fuel for a beam clash). He also lets himself get eaten by Baby so that he mess him up a bit on the inside.

You know I just realized: just what exactly makes Goku an idiot? I mean considering he knows about the internet, how to give a haircut, and give a strict lecture to Gohan about food (while ignoring the spreading flames in his hair) there has to be more than meets the eye.

Also, I think I figured out how Goku almost died in the Room of Spirit and Time as a child: he broke something, and Mr. Popo got angry. Hence 6th rule in Popo's Training.

Mainly because there is nothing within those chapters/episodes to set him apart from the Gohan/Namu/Piccolo mash up he was introduced as.

I used to be one of those who thought he had potential, that he was underutilized, but on further reflection I've realized that he's just a late introduction that offers nothing more than one of his progenitors couldn't already do. Especially the successor angle.

I agree with Zephyr's sentiment about his role in GT: the Baby arc handled him better than pretty much any other member of GT's supporting cast, and even when he lost he still contributed to the final fight from within Baby. That's more than I would have expected to see from him in any media, and I think that's more than we really needed.

Still, I would have liked to have seen Uub take a shadow dragon. If it were up to I'd give each Dragon a different Z-Fighter to face rather than have Goku beat all of them.

Also, that scene of Piccolo stalking Gohan from a building (in ep 1), would be pretty funny if Piccolo suddenly screamed: "Neeeeeerd"!!!!!!!!

Yes it is, personally I didn't like much that he doesn't share the same voice as Mirai Gohan in TFS HOT, continuity matters.

Sorry, but we honestly don't believe Zach Holzman can play the character we want for Gohan in the Buu saga like Justin Briner can. And continuity doesn't really matter to us, in that regard. They're just *too different*.
