"Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread

Ok, i don't know that much about the production of anime or anything about animation, but I'm pretty sure i read the other day in this same forum, that Super was getting a higher budget and that due to the ending of a series on Toei, some new people would start working on super, now all of a sudden I'm reading that a whole bunch of people are leaving. So what's going on?? Is Super going to get better or worse??

Yeah, there were some staff changes as of episode 47. It appears Chioka has left, leaving Hatano to direct the series on his own. Another noteworthy change is that Teppei Hotta, the colour designer for the franchise since Battle of Gods, has been replaced by the series' colour coordinator Yoshitaka Katō. We also lost a producer.
Dunno what's going on. I guess people don't want to work with the hellish production that is Super.

The colors and general direction seemed improved in episode 47, which is the first one with those staff changes. Considering how this staff change coincides perfectly with the beginning of the new arc, I don't think it was some sudden behind the scenes problem, but a planned move.

Too bad Yamamuro is the series' character designer. Masaki Sato would have been excellent replacement for him.

There's no sign of Trunks' backstory in the preview for 48, so maybe that's what this is about?

Given the shit he and Eguchi Hisashi talked about Yamamuro Tadayoshi on Twitter I doubt he'll be working on Dragon Ball Super.
