How strong is Mirai Trunks in Super?

This Trunks is 9 years older since the last time we saw him. He shouldn't be slacking since he is the only fighter on his Earth.

I do have him considerable stronger than before but nothing extreme.

The episode summary for EP47, if I recall, said that not even the power of a Super Saiyan could handle the likes of Black (as if that's much of a surprise).

So, Trunks only being able to still access Super Saiyan Second Grade doesn't seem far off. If not, I want to say he at least has SSJ2, at best.

Have we even seen a Ssj2 aside from Raging Vegeta? (not that it matters what form he was in considering the power increase was insanely big and, as of recently, inconsistent) Although maybe it could work. He has the same hairstyle from when he first appeared which would equate to his "wavy" Ssj hair. If he went Ssj2, they could do something similar to his hair when he went back to kill the androids.

The nostalgic in me wants him to eventually get close in power to Goku and Vegeta just to feel like the days of the Super Saiyajin Trio are back. But I'll settle for him being stronger than any Z-Fighter except Goku and Vegeta. Since, as pointed out, he's the only fighter left in his timeline, that's entirely plausible.

It depends on whether he trained or not during all those years, but I'd say he's as strong as he was when he came back to his timeline; that is, Super Saiya-jin Dai San Dankai.

I think Trunks will gain a new transformation, Goku or Vegeta might pass God Ki to him somehow. I doubt them bringing the guy back without him having a new form or some ability. Actually, they might do a SSG ritual with him or something.

Right, it just makes him look weak if he's going to come back and let Goku and Vegeta do all the dirty work which will ruin his character. I'm actually hoping Black wipes the floor with Goku and Vegeta, and Trunks has to rely on himself. Let's see we have Kid Trunks, Bulma, Pan, Gohan, Goten, and Mirai Trunks. That's enough to do a SSG ritual while Goku and Vegeta hold off Black, assuming they can't participate in the ritual anymore. I'm banking on Kid Trunks fusing with his Future self to cause some crazy time crossing power-up which catches the Omni-Kings attention, or Trunks fusing with Vegeta.

FPSSj lets you power up beyond your initial limits with no buffness, even the aura is the same between these two forms in the manga. So FPSSj quite literally replaces Grade 2.

As strong as the plot demands. It is easy as that, forget about consistency, if Trunks needs to be strong, Tori-bot will make him strong (ala Golden Frieza BS nonsense).

I don't think he "needs" that form. It's a play on how Future Trunks and Goku first met. If anything, Goku is testing the power of Trunks. It's clear Goku is far ahead, as he caught the punch of Trunks when he awoke like it was nothing.

I'm very impressed with how they handled Mirai Trunks. It's a shame he did not have his potential unlocked by the Elder Kaioshin (seeing as he's still sealed).
