I still haven’t lived down going, “Who the heck is Tao Pai-pai?” that one time I was talking with Ei’ichiro Oda-kun. But the fact that there are still people reading the series after all this time… All I can say is; “thank you.” Really, that’s all.

The ratings show that Z in on a completely different level from everything else.
It's the only anime that can be that old and not only hold it's own against modern anime but surpass them as well.
It's the only anime that can be released as many times as it has and still sell well.
It's the only anime that can release a game every year with the same exact story and still sell well.
Cure Dragon 255 wrote:Yeah Baby! Now we are talking! I have no fear for when Super comes then!
There's a huge quality drop between the 2 and it's very childish compared to Z so the ratings will more than likely go down after the 1st few episodes.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Don't underestimate original Dragon Ball. It had Path to Power movie for its 10 year anniversary and the most viewed Dragon Ball video (in general) on YouTube is "No Balls" scene.
It's also 37% of Toriyama's story, it had Dragon Box release and even Funi one is better than Z, because it's 4:3. A lot of American fans love it more than Z, once they learned that it exists. Rest of the world saw it in order.
OG DB doesn't even need Kai treatment, filler is faaaaar more tolerable and it's usually just filler episodes that you can skip.
And it's not like people weren't sick of Raditz to Boo story in every game ever, they weren't buying it for the story, that's for damn sure.
Kuririn Fan wrote:Respect! I thought you're a Z fanboy who thinks of OG DB as a useless "prequel".
It's set before Z so it's a prequel to Z like how Z is a prequel to Super but in no way is it useless, sure you could watch Z without it but you'd get 10× more invested in the characters and world if you start with DB like it was meant to be seen.

It's not a prequel, it's one story.
Manga is first, it comes before everything, and it's called Dragon Ball from chapter 1 to final chapter 519.

I was talking about the anime but you're right, it was originally made as one story.

A prequel would imply that it was made after but takes place before the original work. The Dragon Ball anime was made before the Z anime, therefore it is not a prequel.

Kai and Gundam are the two shows I'm excited for the most to watch on Toonami every Saturday, it's like reliving my childhood, even though I've already watched all of Kai, I still hoping they have the Buu arc somehow when Kai finishes its run on Toonami.

Hellspawn28 wrote:So how many episodes of the Cell saga on Toonami do we have left before Kai moves on to the Buu saga?
23 episodes left till we get to the buu arc
So if we don't get an announcement of an FUNi English dub of Kai to be airing on Toonami between now and January 2017, something ain't right.

Rough week for everyone. Over 300,000 viewers tuned out after Kai and never came back in any capacity. They basically stuck around for Kai and then bailed.
