The long forgotten Saiyan Ability to turn Oozaru.
We only saw this happening twice during the Saiyan Saga. Vegeta seemed pretty confident about using this technique and was able to transform into Oozaru and keeping his conscious in the same process. All the current alive Saiyans have all their tails cut off which prevents the transformation.
My question is, Is it impossible to bring back this ability? Also, if such ability is ever brought back, (If we put the events of GT aside and we are strictly talking DBZ-Super here) who should be the one getting the transformation/power up?
I'm not saying whoever turns Oozaru is becoming SSJ 4 (Although, I would love for that to happen) but I think it'd be amazing if they decide to explore the idea of having someone transform into Oozaru during battle again.
If I could choose, I would say Gohan should get the privilege for two reasons. He's been out of the main picture so long that it's becoming too obvious. Also, the similarities between the Cell Saga and Goku Black Saga are making me think that the idea of Gohan becoming the Hero again is not that Far-fetched. (Future in utter chaos. Many dead and important characters dead as well (Mai and Bulma). Trunks needs help from Goku. Travels to the past.)
Thoughts?

I think that the transformation just outgrew its purpose. It multiples one's power by what -- 10 times? It's big, it's bulky, it's relatively slow, it's probably hard to see around all of that bulk, not a lot of flexibility. Super Saiyan completely outshines the Great Ape technique. It was okay in the Saiyan arc, but as the series progressed, any character could just zip around the Great Ape like it were nothing. I'm surprised that GT pulled it off lol Yeah, one could turn Super Saiyan (or whatever form) in Great Ape, but I think the transformation outlived its purpose.
With that said, Gohan should get some shine even if it's by transforming into a Great Ape. From what I understand, he needs something in Super.

Tarble is the only survivor Saiyan that can transform into Great Ape now and if he sticks just a few moments with the main cast, he'll realize that its utility is useless. You know, why turn into something that you can't control when you have the capacity to transform into something better and stronger?
That being said, I don't think Great Ape will return anymore.

I'm afraid if Oozaru's DID return, this is what would happen.

Oozaru pretty much became pointless and worthless when Zenkai and SSJ was introduced. It became doubly pointless and worthless once Godly Ki became a thing.

I have a hard time seeing why an ability which you could use in a pinch and increases your power x10 is so worthless when another technique which has the same power boost and has a 90% chance of killing you and it's awesome...
So I outside of the obvious issue of no tail I don't see why you couldn't use SSB X Oozaru outside of the fact that you would probably not only destroy the universe but all the universes.

It is indeed a pretty pointless form now due to the shift in the series, and with its obvious weakness it really doesn't serve them any purpose in a one-on-one fight (let alone a tournament) with a strong/intelligent opponent, proven by Tullece, and Vegeta. If used against Freeza's 1000 soldiers in FnF it definitely would have sweeped them with ease, but there is no real use of it in practicality I see it. Although I did like that GT tried to renew it and give its essence as a source of a final power up relapse and why the lore of the SSG really disappoints me.

If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

What if the Super Oozaru form taps into SSJG ki? O.O
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super
