You had one job. Also I'm starting to wonder, just how long is temporary
Anyway, Nozawa is and always will be awesome, she's been voicing the Son family for 30 years, and she's rocked since day one.

So, I've been recently getting myself accustomed to subbed Dragon Ball, through the, well, first portion where I'm only up to the very beginning of the Red Ribbon Army stuff and I need to get back to it, and Super. Super is actually what finally won me over on Nozawa, I never really disliked her but getting where I have with it with her has won me over and made her Goku finally solidify to me, as well as being pretty happy that I can actually tell apart him, Gohan and Goten distinctly.

I'm sure some of you are balking at that statement, but this is the first time I've kind of gotten long exposure to all three and I'm happy to be able to find the differences in them when I wasn't sure I'd be able to before. I particularly really like hearing the difference between adult Gohan and his father, its simple but noticeable. Maybe it's not her heyday or whatever, but I'm really glad all the same. It makes me more excited when I get through more older stuff subbed, since it's finally hit that chord with me. I'll probably always have some leftover fondness for Schemmel's Goku given my age and how I got into the series, but I'm happy to have found my place with Nozawa's Goku (and family) finally. :)

Masako Nozawa is awesome. She is to DB what Peter Cullen is to Transformers: someone with an iconic voice that you can't really imagine anyone else doing.

When I first heard her voice, I was surprised because it was a little boy voice for one of anime's greatest heroes. But after a while, I got used to it and I find it gives a "Peter Pan" vibe to Goku (both are mythic manchilds). And Nozawa has voiced not just Goku, but his sons Gohan and Goten, his descendant Goku Jr, his father Bardock and his evil counterpart, giving each character a distinctly different voice that makes them stand out.

She is also a big fan of Goku, wanting to do the role as long as possible.

Beyond Dragon Ball, Nozawa has been in other renowned anime shows too:
- Pidge and the witch Haggar in the original Voltron show
- Esteban in the Mysterious Cities of Gold
- Guilmon in Digimon
- Dr Kureha in One Piece
- Tetsuro Hoshino in Galaxy Express 999
And so many others.

She is an awesome voice actor. God bless her.

No need for thread like this, Masako Nozawa is totally awesome!
I was little afraid about Goku Black as we learned she is going to voice him, as we already have Goku, Gohan, Goten, Bardock and Turles, but she nailed it!

Well, it's that time again guys! :D. Yesterday, I just happened to be looking at some Dragon Ball clips when I came across this scene and it reminded me of why I love it so much and why I think this is one of Nozawa's best scenes. Most people remember her performance from the end of the prior episode which is amazing this scene in particular was an amazing follow up in my opinion. Mainly because of one line. I really like the way they added the Oozaru roar to blend with her screams. It's very creepy in a weird sort of way but really cool. I really like whole "Stop It!" thing she kept doing. Like she was actually getting hurt. The main thing that gave me chills was that one line from earlier. "I told you to stop it!". Along with the Oozaru effect accompanied with it. The way her scream echoed with the effects for a couple of seconds with the whole scene just being quiet as well was absolutely chilling. Then she screams for one last time and finally lets the rage take over!! It's all really awesome in my opinion. I could watch it without the subtitles and I'd still be creeped out by it. It's just one of those things that completely overrides the language barrier for me.

Yup, I'll always admire Masako's approach when it comes to screaming.

Speaking of which, has she ever shared possible experiences of passing out during scream recordings similar to Sean? I would doubt it.

Thanks for this thread, I don't care for the dub fans to me Nozawa is CRUCIAL to this franchise. I could never ever watch a dub again after I've discovered her.

This is a clip of Ms Nozawa when she was cast as the Chinese god the Monkey King in a video game. It sounds pretty cool.

Bumping, but I was recently watching old episodes of One Piece.. and a lot of fans often say that Masako's Goku belongs on an elderly woman and not a male, but it's odd because for me, I've been so accustomed to Masako's Goku, that I don't feel it fits a woman character. Whenever I hear Dr. Kureha speak, I cannot unhear Goku.

Seconding this. I sometimes unconsciously call her Goku while watching OP. It can be so jarring

Nozawa is making Black's scenes extra chilling. My favourite vocal performance for him is in episode 56, especially his "Vegeta, you were a fine appetizer" line right after he stabs Vegeta. The calm tone contrasts so well with the music.

In that very moment, she knows. She fucking knows. As she handles me the nugget pieces she previously cooked for me, she leaves my room with these words: "Persona 5 is the true savior of the JRPG".
