To be fair Chaitzou does look AND sound like a child. If they're both adults I guess that's fine(at least it wouldn't be shota)but personally it would just weird me out to much. Making Tenshinhan gay would be interesting though, I don't think it would feel forced or anything.

Also considering how vocal I've seen sintzu be about his opinion towards homosexuals before, I doubt Chiatzou's size is the only thing that weirds him out about the pairing. I wonder if he feels equally weird about "Kid" Mai x Kid Trunks.

I agree with sintzu in the sense that Tenshinhan is a ripped 6' 2" fighting machine, and Chiaotzu is a ghost-looking humanoid creature, who is said to be about 4' but sometimes literally looks the size of my foot. I dread to think how that would work.

Regardless though, aside from the fact that they're just two dudes who hang out all the time, I've never seen anything to suggest that they're anything more than just two really good, committed friends and training partners, and it seems to just be "seediness" from people online. I'm not sure how reliable "Dragon Ball Forever" (2004) is, but doesn't it hint that Launch's persistence over Tenshinhan may have eventually paid off in the end, and they got together?

I don't know about everyone else, but when I was younger I'd assumed that, aside from Vegeta and Piccolo (to a lesser extent), that the Z-Fighters were a fairly close group of friends, given all that they had been through together. Tenshinhan's comments after the Cell Games about them never seeing him again make you think otherwise. It is pretty sad but true to his naturally solitudinous nature, I guess. At the end of the day, Goku had been a rival to Tenshinhan, and it was his aim to try and overtake Goku's level of power. Regardless of how unrealistic that goal had become, Tenshinhan is noted for his incredible commitment and devotion to his cause. Man, I love that character.

Tenshinhan’s Epilogue:
Stoic Tenshinhan mainly does farming in addition to his training. He can split into multiple bodies and grow extra arms, so harvesting the crops goes quickly. He was found by Lunch, who fell in love with him at first sight and had been constantly pursuing his whereabouts, and even reluctantly lived together with her; but she wasn’t cut out for farming, and Tenshinhan has no interest in romance, so she left after just a few days. After that, it seems Lunch apparently stops in from time to time.

I'm aware the more recent source repeats information from the older source, but I find it noteworthy they're sticking to their stories in recent material.

Anyway, the closest to reality to their pairing would be a adult guy with dwarfism and a normal adult sized guy. And there's really nothing wrong with that.

But that pairing isn't supported by anything in the series, while Lunch is, so they should just go ahead and give us some of that.

If that 26 year old has the size and looks of a 4,5 or 6 year old then yes.

Chaozu's not modeled after a Chinese doll: he's modeled after a Jiangshi, a specific kind of Chinese vampire/undead spirit.







They're very, very, VERY commonplace throughout... wait for it, wait for it... wuxia fiction. And Chinese folklore in general obviously. And a TON of really cheesy (awesome) Chinese horror movies from the 80s.

For the record, he's never referred to or implied to actually BE a Jiangshi throughout DB, but that's definitively where his look/design comes directly from. They're in a lot of Asian genre fiction in general, but wuxia and horror in particular use these guys a whole bunch.

Also the whole "are Chaozu and Tenshinhan fucking?" debate is beyond anciently old, exhausted, and stupid as hell. Especially once you work real life sexual politics into things: then you're just working yourselves up into a lathered frenzy over absolutely nothing at all.

1) The top left one is just from a random/generic piece of sticker merchandise sold in China. Jiangshi are pretty mainstream there: its like buying a bumper sticker or fridge magnet that has a generic Halloween ghost or a zombie on it.

2) The gif (even though you don't care) is from Kung Fu Wonderchild, a super cheesy 80s Taiwanese wuxia movie (that I happened to really love) and is about as DB-esque in its humor/wonkiness as all get out. I used it originally for the big wuxia thread.

3) The girl Jiangshi in red is (quite obviously) Hsien Ko/Lei Lei from Capcom's Darkstalkers arcade games. She's about as popular and ubiquitous in the world of anime/gaming fan art and cosplay as any character you're ever likely to find. Also the games themselves are wonderful.

4) This one I just stumbled across randomly, but evidently its from a Yu Gi Oh! card (I think it is anyway, could be mistaken on that). 'Bout the only time you'll ever see me utilize anything from that series.

5) This was taken from some random person's DeviantArt account. Just someone fucking around with computer models and made a bunch of generic wuxia characters (Taoist monks, fighters, etc).
