How to get subtitles on Dragonbox?

Post by EricM » Sat Feb 24, 2007 4:54 am

Is there anyway to do this? A friend of mine owns the set since he speaks fluent Japanese, and he said he'd lend it to me watch through.

I was thinking I'd watch it on my computer and load up a corresponding subtitle file in VLC or MPC. Do any such files exsist?

Thanks for any help!

Not sure if this will get locked or not but you could grab the subs off Funi's releases with tools you can find at videohelp.com and then try that through VLC.

But there could be some timing issues, though all that would take quite awhile to complete.

They do exist, but we can't talk about them in public on the forums.

Haha, just hire some Japanese guy to watch everything with you and translate. (^_~)
But seriously, I honestly don't know...or do I? Or do I not...?

Haha, my friend who owns them can translate, he's just lazy. :P

In the mean time, I wonder if I can engineer a way to use the subs from the season 1 box since the translations are pretty much perfect (?).

It's probably more trouble than it's worth since even after you rip the season 1 subtitles, the timings will probably be off from the Dragon Box. If you don't mind there being a delay between subs and audio, you'd have to shift them a little bit. It's worth a try but it might not work out perfectly.

I've been able to do it using some freeware, naturally it takes quite a bit of time to do but the hard part, for me anyway, was ripping the subtitles from the DVD's. It's cost me £25 for the Season One Boxset then £19 for each Dragon Box single, very costly but well worth it in the end.

Yeah, they do exist already. But they're bootlegs though (or at least the ones I'm thinking of are). And they do resemble the Dragonboxes to some extent. But the quality still can't touch the Dragonboxes. You could still find them floating around.
